SHECHEM CHILDREN’S HOME
QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER Q2, 2024
A FAMILY RESTORED
This quarter, the story of transformation continues to unfold. From April to June 2024, we cared for 21 children, with each of the 9 boys and 12 girls journeying towards healing and restoration. Six of our survivors were referred to residential facilities for specialized rehabilitation, while four others were joyfully reintegrated with their families, marking the start of a new chapter in their lives.
With the support of World Hope International and a multidisciplinary team, including the local Barangay, funding was secured to repair the house. Once the renovations were complete, meetings and activities helped prepare the family for the children's return.
One of Shechem Children’s Home's most important responsibilities is ensuring survivors are placed in safe, nurturing environments
Deborah (17) and Cyrus (15) were set to reunite with their biological parents, but concerns arose due to the family’s economic struggles and the poor condition of their home. The parents worked hard to provide for their children, but their income barely covered daily needs, and their home, with its deteriorated roof and rotting wood, was unfit to withstand storms
A new BEGINNING at Shechem
On May 3, 2024, Deborah and Cyrus were joyfully reunited with their parents. Overwhelmed with gratitude, the family saw this as an answer to their prayers. Shechem is thankful for the spiritual growth of these survivors, who now see God’s hand in their healing. Plans are in place to protect the family’s future and prevent further harm, ensuring they can move forward in faith and stability
The reintegration story, like our renovation project, highlights the power of your support in helping us rebuild lives and create spaces for healing and hope.
We’ve completed 47% of the renovation, but additional work is needed for the kitchen and roof, which isn't covered by current funds. The Shechem Board approved replacing the roof and expanding the kitchen with more restrooms. We await the architect’s scope and estimate. Despite challenges, we trust in God's provision and thank our donors for helping us build not just a house, but a true home.
PARTNERS IN HOPE
Still, resilience thrives here at Shechem.
In the midst of these physical challenges, we’ve also been blessed by incredible partners. One such blessing came in the form of a vibrant and joyful visit from the students of
But it was more than paint and brushes. These students led the children in games, devotions, and even a day of swimming to escape the summer heat. Their love and energy have given us all a reminder of what is possible when people come together for a shared mission
They didn’t just leave their mark on our walls with murals, they left an imprint on the hearts of our children The playground has mirror our that
The journey we walk alongside the children at Shechem is not always easy, but with each step, we see God’s faithfulness and healing work in their lives. “ ”
