ENRICHMENT AT NEW COLLEGE One of the best things about coming to New College Pontefract is the chance to develop your skills and interests alongside your qualifications.

This booklet gives you an idea of some of the enrichments that we offer: clubs and societies, health and wellbeing activities, super-curricular activities to develop what you do in your timetabled lessons, and activities to support careers, life experiences and develop your leadership skills.

Enrichment activities are an important way of making new friends, trying new things and helping you get to where you want to go after sixth form college. It is the combination of your results and wider skills that will get you offers for degrees, apprenticeships and jobs. Universities and employers know that taking part in enrichment activities says a lot about the kind of person you are and the ways in which you have developed while at college.

We have something for everyone and expect all our students to take part in some form of enrichment alongside their timetabled lessons. If there are any activities that you would like to take part in that isn’t listed, speak to a member of college staff or the Senior Leadership Team in September.

Once you have looked through the range of activities at college, please complete the expression of interest form by using the link provided at the end of the brochure. Specific information about the start dates of enrichment activities, times and venues will be shared with all students in September during our Freshers Fair.

I look forward to inviting you to the official launch in September!

New for 21/22!

LIFE GROUP

In a nutshell, we discuss some of life's conundrums and some of the big questions and dilemmas life throws up sometimes so that we can feel a little more prepared for how to handle them. We don't have a plan - we just go with the flow of what's on people's minds. So far we've discussed the following questions: 'How do we grow confidence?' 'How do we connect with different people?' 'How do we stop procrastinating?'.....'What are the different types of procrastination.....? 'What happens when we die?' It sounds heavy but actually these are questions most of us have beneath the surface at some point in our lives and I guess we are just 'calling them out' to see what we can learn and discover together. The difference with this group is that we actually look at what scripture says about these things. It's not everyone's cup of tea...but it's what the human race has been asking for generations. Anyway, come along and join us if you feel curious. Anyone and everyone welcome - turn up just as you are and feel free to ask any question you like and challenge any response. If you prefer just to listen and observe, that's fine too!
