THE FIRST READING: READER:
A Reading from the Word of God written in the book of the Prophet Jeremiah Chapter 2 beginning at the 4th verse.
Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel. Thus says the LORD: What wrong did your ancestors find in me that they went far from me, and went after worthless things, and became worthless themselves? They did not say, "Where is the LORD who brought us up from the land of Egypt, who led us in the wilderness, in a land of deserts and pits, in a land of drought and deep darkness, in a land that no one passes through, where no one lives? I brought you into a plentiful land to eat its fruits and its good things. But when you entered you defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination. The priests did not say, "Where is the LORD?" Those who handle the law did not know me; the rulers transgressed against me; the prophets prophesied by Baal, and went after things that do not profit. Therefore once more I accuse you, says the LORD, and I accuse your children's children. Cross to the coasts of Cyprus and look, send to Kedar and examine with care; see if there has ever been such a thing. Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods? But my people have changed their glory for something that does not profit. Be appalled, O heavens, at this, be shocked, be utterly desolate, says the LORD, for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living water, and dug out cisterns for themselves, cracked cisterns that can hold no water. !3

THE EPISTLE READER:
A Reading from the Word of God written in the Epistle to the Hebrews Chapter 13 beginning at the1st verse.
Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured. Let marriage be held in honor by all, and let the marriage bed be kept undefiled; for God will judge fornicators and adulterers. Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, "I will never leave you or forsake you. So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me? Remember your leaders, those who spoke the word of God to you; consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Reader: Here ends the Reading ALL: Thanks be to God.
GRADUAL HYMN
O Word of God above, Who fillest all in all, Hallow this house with Thy sure love, And bless our festival. Here from the font is poured Grace on each sinful child; The blest anointing of the Lord Brightens the once defiled. !4
Here Christ to faithful hearts His body gives for food; The Lamb of God Himself imparts The chalice of His blood. Here guilty souls that pine May health and pardon win; The Judge acquits, and grace divine Restores the dead in sin. Yea, God enthroned on high Here also dwells to bless; Here trains adoring souls that sigh His mansions to possess. Against this holy home Rude tempests harmless beat, And Satan’s angels fiercely come But to endure defeat. All might, all praise be Thine, Father, co-equal Son, And Spirit, Bond of love divine, Where endless ages run.
THE HOLY GOSPEL The Lord be with you. And also with you. A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke Glory to Christ our Saviour. On one occasion when Jesus was going to the house of a leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal on the sabbath, they were watching him closely. When he noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, he told them a parable. "When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honor, in case someone more !5
distinguished than you has been invited by your host; and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, 'Give this person your place,' and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, 'Friend, move up higher'; then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. He said also to the one who had invited him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." The Gospel of Christ Praise to Christ our Lord.

From the Rector’s Notebook Greetings: The Festival of Dedication of the St. David’s Church begins today. The week of services is meant to be for us a time of revival and renewal. Festivals of Dedication and Patronal Festivals are important to the life of the respective parishes as we lift our hearts and voices to almighty God. Although the two are observed in the same way, they do not mean the same thing. Patronal Festival for example centers around the Feast Day of a particular saint. Dedication Festival is the annual commemoration of the day of consecration of a church building. Such observances can be traced as far back as the fourth century. Ours is a celebration of the rededication of the church building after massive repair and restoration. There will be those who will come from across the Diocese to support us and to be with us during the week; however this is not an indication that we are to look to their presence alone to fill our church. Some of our fellow christians will contract buses and other forms of transportation in order to be here, and we truly appreciate their presence as we extend warm Christian greetings to them. Primarily the time of revival and spiritual renewal is meant for members of the parish in order for us to grow together in Christ and as we deepen the fellowship among us
!7
Most of all there will be the messages from God that will be brought by the specially selected preachers. Each preacher brings deep spiritual insight, biblical knowledge and many years of liturgical and pastoral experience and are all enthusiastic about being with us. We tend to worship at set times for Sunday Mass; the festival however, allows us to meet, greet and interact with fellow members of our congregation. While we all have or particular schedules; let as mark off these four extra services scheduled in our parish for this week and make every effort to attend. At the end of this liturgical and spiritual exercise let us seek to perceive what message or messages that God almighty has for us, both as individuals and as a parish family. Let us pray that by the offering of this week of thanksgiving, that our Lord will have mercy on us and on the whole world. Your friend and priest, Noel A. Burke, MA (The Rev’d Canon) Rector Notices and Announcements BIRTHDAYS THIS WEEK 1st Inez Agard, Jean Farmer, Rowland Kirton-Browne. 2nd Mavis Mann 3rd Samantha Peterkin

HEALTH CORNER By Dr. Sophia Marshall MULTI-PURPOSE VINEGAR Vinegar can be used as a safer alternative to many cleaners. The vinegar that you buy in the supermarket contains 5% acetic acid, which has antimicrobial properties. In another words, vinegar can act as a disinfectant. Here are a few ways that you can use vinegar in your daily chores: Reduce dust and grease Concerned about those dirty ceiling fan blades; then wipe them with white distilled vinegar. This helps to reduce the build up of dust and grease. Give a shine Add one-half cup of vinegar to one gallon of water and mop floors to give them a shine. Toilet bowl cleaner Stains can be removed from the toilet by adding 3 cups of vinegar, leaving it for 30 mins or more before brushing vigorously and then flushing. Deodorises the refrigeratorPlace 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in a glass and put it in the refrigerator. This removes any smells within 2 days. Cleaning the refrigerator Mix equal amounts of white distilled vinegar and water; this is perfect for cleaning the refrigerator. Annoying ants Regular wiping of counter tops and floors with vinegar can get rid of your ant problem.
