Foreword In this book “speak to the mountain Ndumi Medupe puts the power and greatness of God at the centre of it all. From the very first devotion she encourages us to speak the Word of God to the mountain. The mountain she is talking about is every and I mean every conceivable problem you can think about such as unemployment, poverty, debt, stress, abuse, sickness, and any other form of bondage. She reminds us from the genesis of the book that nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1: 37). She reminds us from this opening devotion that the Word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, and that it is able to penetrate even to divide soul and spirit, joints and marrow (Hebrews 4: 12). I wondered why she started the book this way until I realised that because she a child of God, she was simply following the pattern of her father God. Let me explain. When Adam sinned in the garden of Eden, God with all his power and ability could not come and rescue Adam because he had already passed his powerful Word in Genesis 1: 26-28, where God had

and all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.’” Jesus, teaching about the importance of faith-filled words, advised that not only will trees obey us when we speak to them, but even stubborn, big, heavy and established secure objects like mountains will obey our tongues. The least members of our bodies, the tongue, filled with faith, can move mountains. We are then cautioned in the Bible to understand that words carry life and death (Proverbs 18:21 & James 3:6) and we are to rule or manage our tongues. The theme of this book is about the power of words that can move mountains in faith. I heard a preacher saying that words were originally designed not only for communication, but also for creating, so the ultimate objective of speaking is to see results.

6

The manifestation of the power of God was evidenced when the cursed tree withered overnight as a result of Jesus speaking faith-filled words to it. The tree could no longer survive, because it obeyed the voice of the Master. We obviously do not see trees and mountains having physical ears, but they can hear (Ezekiel 36:1-5). The same applies to our problems and obstacles in life – they have ears. They can hear faith-filled words and when commanded to leave they will go, as long as we are not full of doubt and unbelief. We were made in the image of God so we need to create what we want to see. Hebrews 11:3 says, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

in man’s nostrils, man became a speaking spirit. We know that Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead, thereby restoring our original DNA and giving us the authority to decree, legislate and create what we want. As believers in Christ, who have been given power and authority, our chief function should be to bear fruit in the Kingdom of Light. We must deal with the causes of lack, debt, curses and sickness, diseases and untimely death, marital problems, and sexual perversion. We need to look deep to find the root or source of the problem. We all know that God in Christ Jesus has given us everything that we need, as stated in 2 Peter 1:3. The key is to know Him, and that knowing can only come by spending time in His presence, praying in the Spirit and studying His Word. To study the Word of God is to divorce ignorance. Hosea 4:6 reads: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” Knowing God’s

The writing style of the book This book has some devotionals that are of a militant nature, designed for that believer whose “goods” have been taken and who wants to go on the offensive and “take back” what the enemy has stolen. Some are as bold as we read in Jeremiah 1:10 that God placed His Word in Jeremiah’s mouth to “uproot, tear down, overthrow and destroy, and to plant.” Matthew 13:25 records that we can remove what God has not planted in our lives, which includes Satanic harassment and control. We read that the Kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force, and those who know their God will be strong and do exploits (Matthew 12:11 and Daniel 11:32). The book is well balanced, as we cannot afford to live a life of fighting the devil if we do not fight from a position of victory. I have included some devotions that are of adoration, praise and worship to God, and some that are a reflection of the goodness of God in our lives. Praise and worship are powerful weapons that destroy the devil’s plan (see 2 Chronicles 20:20).

is sufficient for anything and everything we need. In addition to Jehovah, we have seen the use of compound names to define God’s character and attributes. The Word “El” was often used. It comes from a root word meaning “might, strength, power, and sovereign.” I have used the Names El Shaddai and Jehovah Tsebaoth, because I love them the most. Join me daily to express your love for Him in worship and praise. El Shaddai, my favourite name, has been derived from the word shad, meaning “breast” in Hebrew, while some scholars say it’s from Šadu, meaning “mountain.” This Name means that God is a nourisher. He satisfies, and He supplies all the needs of His people, just like a mother would care for her child. Combined with “El” it indicates that God freely gives nourishment and blessing; He sustains us. The other name I call with love is Jehovah Tsebaoth, “The God of Hosts” or “God of the Armies” as He showed Himself to Deborah when the angels, together with the stars, fought the enemy.

Faith and authority to move mountains Mountains in a believer’s life represent problems. It is anything that is adverse, a barrier, or whatever is contrary to the Word of God for our lives. Mountains slow down or impede our progress in the Kingdom of God and in life. This book is a charge to stop talking and praying about our mountains, informing God how big they are. The time to cry or moan is over. We are kings and priests (2 Peter 2:9 and Revelation 1:5), thus we must decree the results we want to see. God will not do the talking to mountains for us it is our responsibility to speak to them and see our victories in Jesus’ Name. Great faith in God is demonstrated by understanding the relationship between the spoken word and authority. The Roman centurion demonstrated his understanding of this principle by saying to Jesus, “But say the word, and my servant will be healed” (Luke 7:7-9). We are to declare the Word of God in our lives with authority and in faith. We exhibit authority by speaking to persons or things that we have authority over. We do not ask or plead, we direct. Faith involves us placing confidence in God’s spoken word and responding to it. The God-like faith will demonstrate itself by speaking and trusting God’s Word.

Commentary God wrote this word when He was angry with the false prophets who prophesied lies about the impeding judgement He would bring upon the Israelites because they chose to serve false gods. Jehovah hated this practice, but the false prophets kept appeasing people with nice prophecies which were contrary to what Jeremiah had told them. This often caused tension and humiliation. God described their prophesies as chaff, compared with Jeremiah’s which were like wheat. God maintains that His Word is like fire; it consumes everything, including sin. Fire also melts objects, thus God is confident that the fire of His Word will melt people’s hearts and turn them away from evil. He assures us that if we continue to believe His Word and speak His Word, adverse situations will soon give in, just like a hammer breaks a rock in pieces. His Word is powerful. We even see that its power can pierce through spirit, soul and body (Hebrews 4:12).

disobeying the laws of God and burning incense, a service reserved only for priests. We see in Isaiah 7 that King Ahaz was being attacked by Syria and Israel and that the prophet Isaiah brought him a word of encouragement that his enemies would not triumph over him. King Ahaz is described in the Chabad magazine as a weak and idolatrous king. When his nation faced an attack, he did not believe the prophets or the Word of the Lord. God

On the day of the battle, God told them to carry a trumpet in their right hand and a torch in the left hand. It is clear that they could not carry swords. When they approached the enemy, they blew the trumpets and shouted, “A sword For the Lord and for Gideon.” The enemy began to kill one another and Gideon and his men defeated them and killed them.

Commentary This scripture encourages us by ensuring us of God’s invincible hand. In war terminology, the word “invincible” refers to the one who is incapable of being conquered, defeated or subdued. The word “invincible” implies insurmountable; our God cannot be passed over. Will you trust Him to show off His power by His hand? Once He lifts His hand, none can reverse it. We can take solace in the fact that our God is Strong, He is Mighty, as suggested by His Name. It is a blessing to serve an Omnipotent God who cannot be defeated.

Our God, the great loving Father, displays His love and forgiveness to the Israelites after judging them for living in sin. We read in the Scriptures how the father welcomed his son back home after he had spent his entire inheritance and lived in poverty, even to the extent of eating with the pigs (Luke 15:11-32). Commentary The opening verse of Joel chapter two deals with the terrible great day of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Later on the prophet encourages the Jews to repent with fasting and wailing and to return to the Lord. He further shows that He is a compassionate God, even though He sent an enemy to strip them of their possessions, humiliating them and leaving them naked and in want. God promises to restore their fortunes, the great life they once enjoyed. We can take solace in the fact that God’s love is everlasting, even if we have gone astray, disobeyed Him and sinned. Through our repentance of the heart, including fasting, He will stop the harassment and the oppression of the devil.

Commentary God promises to deal harshly with our enemies. In this case, God promises that the enemies will be wiped out instantly, passing away like a dream. God demonstrates His weaponry by listing thunder, earthquakes and consuming fire, to mention a few. This shows that God has destructive artillery up His sleeve, and our enemies better back off or face the wrath of God.

of about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of the armies of the eastern peoples; a hundred and twenty thousand swordsmen had fallen” (Judges 7:12,22 & Judges 8:10).

Commentary This Scripture gives another account of God killing the enemies of Israel by Himself without assistance from men. Gideon and his 300 men (reduced by God from 22,000) had no swords in their hands, only a trumpet and a torch. However, when they sounded the trumpets and cried “the sword for Gideon and the sword for the Lord,” God caused the enemies to fight themselves and the total onslaught was some 135,000 people killed,

God instructed Moses to stretch out his hand – then the waters were released and the Egyptians drowned and perished. The Israelites, led by Miriam, broke into the song of the Lord and glorified His Name for such a deliverance from their wicked enemies. It was freedom day in the desert.

Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your divine provision of healing so that I do not have to spend on doctors and medication. I bless You that You heal my spirit, soul and body. I cry out in song like the Psalmist, “You sent

It was at this time that God said to His people, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). So God revealed Himself

saving me, for my enemies are too mighty for me. I love You Lord Jesus.

Commentary This chapter refers to the deliverance of the Jews from Babylonian captivity and is also applicable to the great salvation that Jesus Christ wrought for us. It is one of those scriptures that brings tears to my eyes when I think of the love of God. Yes, He does love us and wants to prove to our enemies and oppressors that He is with us. He redeems and comforts us. In earlier verses God was angry that His people had been enslaved in Egypt and oppressed by the Assyrians for no reason, and at the time of this prophecy they had been captured by Babylon. Here God gives the confidence that by going forward they will know His Name again, they shall be saved, and the earth shall see it. This time around God promises that His deliverance will be without haste, as it was in Egypt, but it will be His fight.

name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:18-19).

Commentary I am always amazed by God’s vengeance on His enemies. This scripture relates to when God promised to avenge His enemies, the Babylonians, who had oppressed His children, the Israelites. His wrath and fury were to be a testimony to other nations never to touch His people, His anointed, and the apple of His eye. The manner He was going to punish the oppressor would bring praise and glory to His Name and His fame would go throughout the whole earth.

(Zechariah 9:11-12).

Commentary Our God is a very loving God and will not allow our enemies to strip us of our children, marriages, loved ones, finances and businesses forever, if we repent and turn away from our wicked ways. God cares and is merciful and gracious. We need not be afraid but must trust in His unfailing love and His strong arm to deliver us from the enemy. This Word reminds us again of the power in the Blood of Jesus and that we are delivered and restored to better glory if we trust in the power of the Blood.

an unblemished lamb per family and sprinkle the blood on the doorposts. When the angel came at midnight, its mandate was to kill firstborns in the households where there was no blood. Today we do not have to slaughter lambs and apply the blood to doorposts, because Jesus Christ died once and for all on the cross, rose again and took His blood to the mercy seat in the throne room of God. Now we can just plead or apply the blood of Jesus Christ everywhere and anywhere – in our homes, over our children, and over anything that concerns us, including our blood veins.

Commentary When God set His people free from Egyptian bondage, He made a point that they were not going to be redeemed only to stay in poverty. I heard one preacher say that there is no redemption without substance (Psalm 105:37). When we come to Christ, we are not to remain poor or cursed. We read in the Bible that by Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, the curse and poverty were removed, we obtained His riches and we received the blessing of Abraham. We need to take authority over Satan who continues to sit on our wealth and riches and command him to flee by the Blood of Jesus. The enemy called debt and poverty must be overcome by the Blood of Jesus Christ (Revelation 12:11) to show off that we have been redeemed by God.

by the Blood of Jesus Christ. I shout breakthrough by the Blood of Jesus Christ, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.

Commentary We understand that when Cain killed his brother Abel, his blood continued to speak, asking for vengeance. That still happens today; the blood of humans and animals speak. Wicked people perform diabolic rituals by using the blood of humans and animals because they understand the power of the blood. Some use the sacrifices for wealth, fame and promotions, and some people who are in Satanic cults use it for witchcraft purposes. As believers with faith in God, we must use the Blood of Jesus Christ to speak on our behalf. His Blood can silence any wicked voice against us. The Blood of Jesus speaks against our enemies. The Blood of Jesus Christ before God speaks mercy on our behalf. The Blood of Jesus Christ is our Passover protection against plagues and bondages, yes even against witchcraft attacks.

Commentary I have realised during the past few years, since we moved to our new home some three years ago, that the devil is territorial and hates establishments or buildings occupied by Believers in certain areas. In the above Scripture, the building of the temple was underway and the enemies were unleashed against the builders, frustrating their efforts. The assurance came from God, a loving Father, that by His Holy Spirit He will drive out our mountains and they will become like mole-hills because of His anointing.

enduring love.

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:35-39).

Commentary God revealed to me that He is not the cause of the Satanic attacks in my life, but some attacks come as a result of His Word in my heart. He told me that He loves me and will fight for me if I hold my peace, trust Him, live a holy life and maintain a godly character that is evidenced by dwelling in His courts, seeking His face and not worrying about the devil.

For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Jesus also confirmed the power of His Word in John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”

harassment of the enemy and tell it to cease or stop in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Commentary The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit raised Jesus Christ from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of God; and in an instant those who believe in Jesus Christ and receive the power of the Holy Ghost in their lives have the same power that rose Jesus from the dead. We now have authority over Satan and sin. We are no longer afraid of Satan, his kingdom and his network. We can trample on serpents and scorpions, which represent demons, and nothing shall by any means hurt us. So we now have the fullness of God living in us. We are complete, lacking no power nor might in God. That is the hope of glory living in us; that is Christ Jesus Himself by His Spirit, so we have GOD in us. We are His tabernacle and we walk in power and authority. So we are no longer fearful or weak.

Day 26 I will sing of His greatness forever “God, how long will the adversary reproach? Will the enemy blaspheme Your name forever? Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? Take it out of Your bosom and destroy them” (Psalm 74:10-11).

mighty Name Lord Jesus. Amen.

The psalmist starts the song being very sad, narrating to God the damage done by the enemy, mainly the desolations in the temple where He dwells. He entreats the Lord to do something, to strike the enemies that destroyed His tabernacle. The psalmist ends the song by recounting back to God His marvellous works of old. Yes, God did drown the Egyptians in the Red Sea, He pierced the leviathan (sea monster) with His strong swift sword, and He dried up the River Jordan. He believes that if God performed such acts in the past, He will definitely deliver His people again … He is able. In the same vein, God dwells in us and He will destroy anyone and anything that harasses His temple, that’s us. He is no respecter of persons. If we call on Him and trust Him, God will help us and rescue us from the enemies that are too strong for us.

the same question remains: “How badly do you want it?”

This is the story of a non-believer. Jesus had retreated to this region, away from the crowd, after a miracle and healing crusade, when this woman, the mother of a demon-possessed girl, saw Him and fell at His feet and begged for the deliverance of her daughter from the demonic torments and attacks by Satan.

Prayer Lord, I choose to trust and believe Your promises. Even in the face of apparent ridicule and scorn I will still take Your redemption plan. I will patiently pursue You until I see the fulfilment of Your promises for my life.

Jesus refused to heal the girl and told the mother that He would not give “the children’s bread to the dogs.” Jesus likened “healing” of God’s people to bread. Her response caused the Lord to marvel. Jesus exclaimed: “Oh woman, great is thy faith.” This was in response to the woman’s reply to the Lord: ”Yes Lord, even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the Master’s table.”

take care of us, thus guaranteeing our great welfare. His Name Jehovah refers to His redeeming acts, which include dealing with whatever will take away our comfort and provision. He even told us not to worry about what we are going to eat or wear (Matthew 6:33). As a loving Father He said that if we, evil as we are, know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more shall He, our Father in heaven, give good things to us when we ask of Him? (Matthew 7:11). Will you decide in your mind to call on Him to daily load you with His benefits? He is loaded anyway; He owns everything.

power. You are my stronghold in time of trouble and I choose to run to You.

Commentary According to Isaiah 60:1, God is affectionately seen as the light, whilst David sees Jehovah as his guiding light, a counsellor during difficult times and a comforter and deliverer in all his distresses. “Whom shall I fear” can be likened to the confidence we have in our Great Jehovah that if “He be for us, who can be against us?” as per Romans 8:31. A stronghold or a strength refers to Abba Jehovah as our protector, our supporter when we are weak, our bulwark, a shield, and our defender. With God on our side we can cry out like David, and we can fearlessly enter into any battle on the strength of His abilities.

might destroy them that hate me” (Psalm 18:40 KJV).

You are mighty and strong in battle. Thanks for fighting for me. You are a great God. I thank You for Your protection.

Comments In 2 Samuel 22 we read an account of David’s praises to God for delivering him from “all” his enemies, including Saul. I like how King David carefully gives us full details of how God came to his rescue. It was not a pretty sight. God was very angry. David says in summary that ”The earth trembled and quaked, the foundations of the heavens shook; they trembled because He was angry. Smoke rose from His nostrils; consuming fire came from His mouth, burning coals blazed out of it. He parted the heavens and came down; He mounted the cherubim and flew, The Lord thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded. He shot his arrows and scattered the enemy, with great bolts of lightning he routed them. The valleys of the sea were exposed, and the foundations of the earth laid bare at the rebuke of the Lord, at the blast of breath from his nostrils. He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.” See Psalm 18 as well.

We are to trust in the peace of God, knowing that He who has begun a good work in us will complete it until the coming of Jesus Christ (Philipians 1:6). So, no fear is allowed in God. We must REST in the finished work of our Lord and Saviour King Jesus Christ.

Commentary It is impossible to trust God and be fearful at the same time. Anxiety is from the pit of hell, a cousin of doubt and unbelief, and comes as a result of focusing on circumstances instead of looking unto Christ, our great Intercessor. It is to this end that the Lord admonishes us to depend on His Words as they are life and spirit

Prayer I take authority over the spirit of fear and anxiety. I declare that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of love, power and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). I pray in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

(John 6:63). Although we have all the promises of God, we still have our enemy, Satan. He does not fold his arms, but he roams around like a lion seeking whom he may devour, using fear, doubt, anxiety and unbelief. Our part in the fight is to stand on the promises of God and to believe that blessings, wisdom, glory and honour, might, power and riches are ours by faith in Christ Jesus (Revelation 5:12).

darts of the enemy and to move mountains.

Commentary In Ephesians 6, Apostle Paul listed the armoury for warfare that the church needed to wear. One of them was the “shield” of faith, with which to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. The Roman soldiers’ shield was like an oblong door that was wide and long in length and would cover the soldier in battle. God told Abram that He would be his shield and a protector. This “door” prevented the enemy’s access to Abram, and now to us. The shield safeguards our emotions, defends our minds from demonic assaults and shields us from the arrows that the enemy shoots in our direction in order to arouse a spirit of fear inside us. We are to take up the shield and quench the fiery darts of the enemy. We serve a great God, always ready to help us in time of need.

around us, we should all desire to concentrate on the main thing in the Kingdom of God, i.e. His Word and His Face. This involves continual, intentional communication with Him, practicing His presence by giving thanks, praying in the Holy Spirit and singing hymns to Him, to mention a few. If we continue in some of these godly disciplines, Christ becomes formed in us and we increase in the favour or grace of God. I believe the key to experience the above Word in our lives is to love Him dearly with all our heart, soul, and strength and to love our neighbours as ourselves.

wealth, whilst sinners gather and store. So sinners do the chasing of wealth and saints do the receiving, provided the latter are pleasing to the Lord. I believe that the saints will gather all this wealth, provided they have God’s agenda foremost in their minds. We need to develop strategies as to what we will do with the wealth transferred from sinners to us. Well, I will build cities, schools, clinics, beautiful homes, and I will feed the poor, as per Isaiah 61:4 “They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.” So we have our job descriptions, namely to please the Lord.

We find him in this chapter singing, hopeful and joyous about the victory and triumph that he expects from God, as he believes that God will still deliver the Jews just like He did when He parted the Red Sea, when they crossed the Jordan River on dry ground, and when Joshua defeated the seven kings. I was shocked, blessed, embarrassed. I kicked myself. on the cross and rising again. When Jesus cried on His cross, “It is finished” (Tetelestai), He meant that He had done all that the Father had sent Him to do, which included fulfilling the law, and paying in full the eternal debt owed for the sin of mankind (Colossians 2:13-15). It is finished! At the cross, God kept His promise to crush Satan’s head through the bruising of His Son. The power of sin and death was vanquished once and for all time. Since then we have been reconciled with God.

Day 49 Power belongs to God “God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord belong mercy and loving-kindness, for You render to every man according to his work” (Psalm 62:11-12 Amp).

Commentary

The mere fact that you are reading this book, and you did not die when the enemy wanted to kill you, is a sign that your God is powerful. In Job 40:5 we see that God is not obligated to repeat Himself. We therefore have a responsibility to believe in Him and trust in the power of His Word the first time we hear or read it.

Prayer

David lets us in here to understand that once something is mentioned twice, it gives us assurance that it is true. Whatever God has spoken to us in His Word, it stands; it is irreversible. God cannot lie, nor will He alter what

down our enemies” (Psalm 60:12 NLT).

I appreciate You for Your mighty deliverances. I praise Your Name forever. I will tell the generations to come of Your great deliverance in my life. You are indeed holy.

Commentary The title of this psalm is for teaching. David composed most of his songs/psalms as a reflection of God’s deliverance, provision and favour in his life. In this instance he starts by complaining, because the nation was feeling the effects of God’s displeasure under king Saul’s rule. During this time the nation of Israel experienced defeats and plunder by the enemy. David ends the psalm happy, jubilant, enjoying the victory from God. At this conquest he defeated 12,000 men. The point of writing the psalm was to tell the next generation of the mighty acts of God. David knew the authority, power and favour of God in his life, thus by faith he called on God and expected Him to answer. We also need to imitate David and tell it on to the next generation; tell about the mighty deliverances and victories of God in our lives. We are to praise Him always. God has given us the power and authority to tread on our enemies.

(Psalm 35:24).

You are able to save us to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25). Also, thank You Lord that our enemies do not triumph over us because You favour us (Psalm 41:11).

Commentary God loves us so much that He wants to be the only one to discipline us as His sons, hence His fury and anger are against our enemies. There are times when it feels like He does not care, as if He has allowed our enemies to afflict us to no end, but the comfort is that He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. He promised to give us a way of escape with every temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). We can rejoice then, knowing that our enemies cannot gloat over our temporary circumstances, which the Bible calls “light temporary afflictions”. In Micah 7:8 we read the same admonition of our enemies not to be happy over our fallen state because the light of God will shine and He himself will plead our cases by His blood and bring us victory.

Commentary Today we learn of the strength of God. He is a refuge (Psalm 46:1) that we can run to in times of trouble or when the storms of life hit us. God, by His Holy Spirit, guides us when we call on Him. We can rest in His shelter where no enemy can penetrate. We further learn that God is our hiding place, our rock where we can take refuge (Psalm 18:2). Trust the Lord to be your hiding place so that He can surround you with shouts of deliverance (Psalm 30).

Commentary This Psalm is said to have been penned around the time of the Babylonian captivity of the Israelites as they could not understand how the wicked could flourish. However, they took solace in the fact that God was their strength, their “rock, refuge and defence.” The golden question is: “Who do you run to? Do you have other gods? Who is your hiding place?” We also read how David boasted in Psalm 30:7 that God was his hiding place from trouble and He surrounded him with songs and shouts of deliverance. I also choose God to be my lot, my portion, my inheritance, my only “God” and I forsake all other gods. So this choice prevents me from bowing before any other god.

suggests his confidence in the salvation of his God. He knows that God is with him, as promised in Isaiah 9 verse 6. With that assurance, he knows that no enemy can stand against him. Romans 8:31 also says, ”If God is for us, who can be against us?” David learned to trust in the salvation from the Great Jehovah. We are further admonished in Isaiah 60:1 to arise from the depression that the multitude of circumstances brings.

Aaron, representing the tribe of Levi, also brought his rod, and the following day, as a sign that God had called, pre-destined, chosen, anointed and appointed him, his rod had budded. But more than that, it flowered and produced fruit, the almonds. If God has called us, He will separate, sanctify and set us apart and SHOW OFF to our enemies that He is on our side. Kingdom of Light by the blood of Jesus Christ.

“He said, ‘Who are you?’ And she answered, ‘I am Ruth, your servant. Spread your wings over your servant, for you are a redeemer’” (Ruth 3:9).

Commentary The “nearest kinsman” or “kinsman redeemer” is a Goel, that means someone who redeems/rescues a person or property. It is to buy back. In the case of mankind, Jesus Christ bought us or redeemed us, and translated us from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of God. We are free from poverty, sin, sickness, diseases, curses, and ignorance, and we are protected from our enemy. There are many promises of God that give us the assurance that in Jesus Christ the enemy cannot snatch us from His hand.

that I am in the light and that I am wiser now. I love You Lord.

Commentary Christ Jesus delivered us from the darkness that blindfolded us, and that includes ignorance, sin and eternal misery in hell. Deliverance means rescued or release or discharged, so when we come to Christ the debt we owed is settled we are free from the penalty or we released from the effects of the obligation, we now belong to the Kingdom of God, He owns us and is our Master.

Commentary This was the second plague to be encountered by the Egyptians as God wanted to free His people from their 430 years of slavery. God used frogs to show the Israelites that the God of their fathers was alive and worthy of their worship and to show the Egyptians that their gods were nothing. Frogs had a special meaning to the Egyptians because they worshipped a frog-headed goddess of birth called Heqet. Frogs were thought to be sacred and were not to be killed. God, in His infinite wisdom, is able to use anything to bring our enemies to their knees. Let us therefore cry to Him to fight our battles while we maintain an attitude of continual praise, worship and study of the Word.

Commentary When Balak hired Balaam to curse the Israelites as they approached Moab, God proved to be their Father and only blessings came from Balaam’s mouth as he tried to spew curses. Even attempts of witchcraft or divination failed; he could not condemn or curse them and Balaam exclaimed that they were special people. Jesus Christ became a curse for us so that the blessing of Abraham might come upon us. Hence we cannot be cursed, nor can we suffer torment through divination or witchcraft, because God is with us and we are His righteousness. The Blood of Jesus Christ destroys every curse or witchcraft spell.

In fact, the Bible gives us an account of how the devil had a conversation with God, requesting permission from God to attack Job’s wealth, and God agreed to remove His covering and protection. In my 20 years of walking with God I have realised that such attacks are part of the Christian walk; Christ even told me to expect them (John 16:33), even though He said that He is my Intercessor, as well as the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 7:25 & Romans 8:26). He further gave me authority over the devil and Satan, and the kingdom of darkness will not harm me (Luke 10:19). per Psalm 5:12, You surround me with favour as with a shield. I honour and bless you in Jesus Christ’s Name.

I am convinced that the favour of God is a force we need daily. In this psalm David had experienced some temporary setbacks, for in verse 5 he says, “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favour lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” It looks as if he had been arrogant or prideful, as in our text he exclaims that when God hid Himself he was shattered, but when God restored His favour he became secure or strong as a mountain.

Commentary This scripture gives us a good illustration of how omniscient our God and Father is. He knows the plans of the enemy and has provided special weapons for us that we might be informed and use them to defend and protect ourselves from Satanic attacks through the full armour that is available for us in Christ (Ephesians 6:8-10).

Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, I give You praise for Your divine protection. I thank You that the enemy will not penetrate Your wall of fire. I am protected and covered. I love and bless You Lord. I honour You, Abba Father, greatly.

The above scripture was penned at a particular time when Jerusalem was a city without a wall. She was naked, vulnerable, and open to attacks. In those days, a city without a wall would be like an army without guns. Now, with broken-down walls, God Himself would be a wall of fire to them.

Commentary The Holy Spirit is the One of the Holy Trinity remaining on planet earth to wage war on our behalf and to convict sinners of their need of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, amongst other things. The scripture reminds us that our Lord Jesus Christ will send the Spirit to drive our enemies away like a mighty flood. We cannot go on in life afraid of demonic attacks. No, we have the Holy Spirit in us and upon us to wage war for us and give us victory. So back off devil! The Holy Spirit is here to put you to flight.

Jesus first called His disciples, He borrowed Peter’s boat for preaching, and after He had finished, He asked Peter to lower his nets. Peter obliged reluctantly. Peter was a seasoned fisherman who knew that no fishing was done in broad daylight, and also that they had tried all night without success, so there was no hope of any fish at day break.

Yes, I now know that my Heavenly Father has blessed me with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus and has given me everything that pertains to life and godliness.

Commentary The Bible is full of scriptures that give assurance that God wants to and has already blessed us. At the garden of Eden, as a result of sin by Adam and Eve, we lost the great fellowship with God and were subjected to a curse of hard labour, toil, poverty, sickness and disease, to mention but a few. Jesus Christ, the seed of the woman that crushed or defeated Satan at Calvary, restored all that we had lost in the garden. Therefore sin, poverty and curses are gone (2 Corinthians 8:9 & Galatians 3:13-14). Instead, we received authority and dominion over sin and Satan.

all my heart, soul and strength, and also to love my neighbour as myself. I purpose to do that by the power of the Holy Spirit as I know that You are a jealous God.

Commentary In Bible times milk and honey were chief dainties, and honey denotes external delight. The point in this scripture is that if we turn to God with our whole heart, not only will He subdue our enemies, but He also promises to fill our mouths with good if we do not bow to other gods but love Him only. God promises to give us “honey from the rock.” That means unexpected income or wealth or delight or success. It means open doors that no one can shut. Yes, it means victory in hard places because God is with us and our hearts are towards Him.

the world”. (John 16:33)

Hope deferred is the same as hope displaced, which seems to make us remain on a never ending roller coaster ride from hopeful to hopeless. It can even progress into anger at God and others. According to Strong’s Bible Dictionary, deferred means to “delay” or “draw out,” which implies that the thing hoped for is probable and will eventually come to pass. God’s promises are true, but His timetable is rarely ours. Hebrews 11:1 reads, “Now faith is being sure of what

we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” We can be sure to receive what we hope for, even when it remains unseen, if God Himself promises it to us. Hope is displaced when we assume that God will do something for us merely because He has done it for others.

(Romans 4:17)

Commentary Abraham waited for 25 years for the birth of his promised heir and son Isaac. He believed God and trusted Him to be faithful. As we continue to draw closer to the end of this age, it has become more and more important that we walk by faith! There is never a time in our lives that we will not need to exercise our faith, so we need to keep it strong! If our faith is weak, there will be no answered prayers. We have to understand that it is impossible to please God without faith. (Hebrews 11:6)

heritage, my treasure; it’s all that I have. That means that you can strip me of everything – my car, my house, etcetera – but don’t take away God’s Word. I remember Jesus Christ in John 6 telling us that His Word is life and Spirit. The Psalmist was so much in love with the Word of God that in the same Psalm, verse 14, he declared, “I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.” Furthermore, in verse 162, he says, ”I rejoice in your promise like one who finds great spoil.”

Day 91 My identity in Christ “I said, ‘You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High’” (Psalm 82:6). “Jesus answered them, ‘Is it not written in your law? I said, you are gods’” (John 10:34).

Join me to change things … let us legislate, decree things, and establish heaven on earth. If things don’t go right in our land, including social and economic injustices, yes terrorism and senseless killings, then it is to a great degree because the Church has failed in her duty to bring justice and behave like a king.

Prayer

Commentary Our Heavenly Father expresses His dissatisfaction about our sloppy attitude, displayed by our neglect of justice for the poor. He observes that we have allowed the wicked to oppress the poor even though, as children of the Most High God, we could have done something. He advises that we have neglected our role to legislate, decree things and ensure justice happens. He goes on to say that because of our poor attitude we will die like mere men, even though we are kings.

194

Heavenly Father, I repent on behalf of the Church for having neglected our rightful place. We failed to reign as kings and we have not brought justice for the poor. Forgive us and restore us to our rightful place of dominion so that we will legislate as kings and bring justice for the poor, thus changing the course of life. I now agree with Jesus Christ that I have power and authority over the enemy because I am a god and a child of the Most High God.

with revenge. It is therefore not some irrational burst of divine anger, but rather the exercise of divine justice. In this case, we hope in God to avenge us against our adversary. The expectation is that the Righteous Judge will deal, and He does deal with our enemies in His wrath. The Bible is full of God’s promises to pay us back for evil done to His children (Psalm 94:1).

His words blessed me, and I continue to meditate on the above Psalm which lists all the wonderful mighty acts which God performed from the time the Israelites left Egypt until the time of Samuel’s ministry. In some instances the Israelites did not believe that God would deliver them, and they provoked Him to anger by worshipping other gods. Bruce Wilkerson defines “limiting God” as drawing a line or mark that says, “God, You cannot go further than this.” He reminds us that God is great and cannot be confined to our small thinking capacity. Andrew Womack, on the same subject, reminds us that God is so huge that even the universe cannot contain Him (1 Kings 8:27).

Commentary We all know that our battle is in the mind, or our soul, the area that includes our will, emotions and the mind. It is an area that is subject to the attacks of the enemy. In many cases he tempts us to reason out how God will deliver us; he inflicts doubt and unbelief in our minds, causing us to fret and panic. Sometimes he causes us to worry about how we are going to overcome situations. All these negative emotions are contrary to God’s ways which require us not to look at things around us but to know that the things we see are subject to change. God expects us to be still and to know that He is God.

RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT When you have been born again, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit and with power; He will help you to serve God and to live victoriously over sin and Satan. So pray this prayer: ***** Father, as Your child in Jesus, I desire to be totally an instrument for Your Kingdom to manifest through my life. I desire to receive Your Promise of the Holy Spirit to those who believe. Jesus, my Saviour and King, baptize me in the Holy Spirit so that the power of Your resurrection will work in me and transform me according to Your will. Holy Spirit, empower me and fill me to overflowing. I hold nothing back from You. Work Your gifts in me and through me, all of me, so that the Father’s Kingdom may be manifested in and through my life. I ask this in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!

When I rise to worlds unknown, And behold Thee on Thy throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee. (Scripture references: Deuteronomy 32:3-4 and Isaiah 26:4)

Be of sin the double cure, Save from wrath and make me pure. 2. Not the labour of my hands Can fulfil Thy law’s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone. 3. Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to Thy cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress; Helpless, look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the fountain fly; Wash me, Saviour, or I die. 4. While I draw this fleeting breath, When my eyes shall close in death,
