HEAVY DUTY PRECISION SPINDLE Spindle, gears and spindle shaft are all made of high grade alloy steel, heat treated and precision ground. The spindle,supported by P4 class bearings, are precision ground and carefully assemble to guarantee superior dynamic running accuracy.

Greater Machine Weight All major castings are heavily and symmetrically ribbed to increase dynamic stability and keep harmonic vibration to a minimum during heavyduty machining. Overall machine weight is more than the weight of competitors’ models, in some cases over 20 tons more.

Bearing On Feed Screw High rigidity cutting conditions are assured on the feed screw by using 60° P4 class 7 back to back angular contact ball bearings.

Extra -Wide Square Slideways Great span between columns. Extrawide square slideways on three axes feature full support for increased stability and low vibration. All slideways are hardened to above HS65 ( HRC50), coated with Turcite-B and precision hand scraped. One Piece Base and Column One of the most important features on the Viper double column bridge VMC is the one -piece base. Unlike conventional structure jointing by welding method, Viper’s unusual one-piece structure effectively solves problems of insufficient rigidity and excessive vibration during heavy machining process. The entire structure is manufactured from high quality GB300 or GA350 Meehanite cast iron, specially heat treated and stress relieved to ensure that the structure remains free of distortion for life of the machine.

Avoid Thermal Displacement and the Generation of Unbalanced Torque The spindle head and Z-axis transmission mechanism are in the same center line to avoid thermal displacement and the generation of unbalanced torque. The spindle, spindle motor and ball screw are also positioned on a center line. The Z-axis feed mechanism employs a double hydraulic counter-balancing device. Z-axis ball screw is located on the gravity center of Z-axis to minimize unbalanced internal stress while assuring outstanding static and moving accuracy.

PULLEY SPINDLE Features maximum rigidity and provides high chip removal rate. Forced chiller system circulates oil through spindle casting for higher rpm performance. Ideal cutting material: Aluminum, cast iron and mild steel. ( Standard )

PRECISION SPINDLE The spindle, supported by P4 class precision bearings, is precision matched preload and carefully assembled to guarantee superior dynamic running accuracy.

QUALITY MATERIAL The spindle, gears, and spindle shaft are all made of high grade alloy steel, heat treated and precision ground.

GEAR TYPE SPINDLE Gear -Type Spindle

TWO SPEEDS AND IDLE RUNNING Featuring a powerful 30 to 60 hp (30 minute rating), high torque spindle motor and an ISO50 spindle that ensures a high level of machine precision and cutting power. Two speed spindle selection, high and low range offer ample power output for low speed heavy cutting applications, and high speed selection for finish cut machining. Idle running allows for convenient setup of workpiece. The maximum rotary velocity of the spindle is 6000 rpm and on select models for 8000 or 10,000 rpm. Choice of four spindle speeds. Choose 4000 or 6000 rpm on the gear transmission headstock; and 8000 or 10,000 rpm on the pulley transmission headstock.

UNIQUE SPINDLE NOSE DESIGN

• Specially designed for deep drilling and milling operations, this long nose spindle provides deep pocket milling without chattering.

• Unique tool release design eliminates damage to the spindle through a floating clamping and unclamping system.

Direct Drive Spindle

Features spindle stock cooling. Force circulation cooling is applied to gearbox bearing and gears, reducing thermal strain to a minimum and increasing machine accuracy. ( Optional )

DIRECT DRIVEN SPINDLE *

The dual-winding 10000 rpm, 35 hp high torque motor spindle with direct coupling delivers 326 ft - lbs at 500 rpm. It increases accuracy and extends spindle life. The spindle isolates heat generated by its direct motor so it is not transferred to the spindle. Pulley and gear transmission noise, gap and vibration are eliminated. The spindle’s float clamping and unclamping system eliminates bearing pressure. Low expansion is achieved with ceramic bearings which feature light weight and low centrifugal force. ( Optional )

COOLANT THROUGH SPINDLE Coolant through spindle operates via high pressure pump ( 360 psi with factory components or 1200 psi with USA made components ) that supplies coolant to the cutting edge.
