We Will Always Remember Their Sacrifice

Memorial Day is a time to remember the heroism of the men and women of proud military serviceheroes that span several generations, who paid the ultimate price with the unwavering belief in a larger cause: To love and protect one’s country.

While the service members we honor today came from all walks of life, they shared several fundamental qualities. They possessed courage, pride, determination, selflessness, dedication to duty and integrity – all the qualities needed to serve a cause greater than oneself.

The impact of this ultimate sacrifice ripples through our communities. The loss of a service member touches more than just the lives of their loved ones and friends. When their stories are shared in our neighborhoods, our homes, our schools and our places of worship, these men and women become a part of the collective identity of our communities.

At NEC Co-op Energy, we are grateful to have veterans within our ranks, and we are proud to serve veterans and their families within our community. In addition to providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy, we care about the military community and show our appreciation through our actions and ongoing commitment to them and their families.

As you go about your holiday plans of backyard barbecues, pool parties and time spent with family and friends please remember why we celebrate. This Memorial Day we honor the brave men and women who have given the highest sacrifice. Without their heroic commitment and actions, we would not be able to enjoy the many freedoms we have today. I hope you will join me in pausing to reflect on the bravery and courage of our country’s active military, veterans, and their families. I am especially humbled by those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy freedom.
