KRASNODAR CITY LIMITS

KRASNODAR CENTRAL DISTRICT

KRASNODAR HISTORICAL CENTER

The territory is located in the Southern part of Krasnodar, to be more specific, in the Central District of the city on the river Kuban which is the natural border between Krasnodar and Adygea Republic. At the moment there are mostly 1-2 story warehouses with no improvement, the land lookes abandoned. Access to the river is blocked. According to the Master Plan of Krasnodar, this territory is supposed to be built up with residential multifamily houses up to 20 levels with a recreational zone. Regulations for high-rise buildings are only affecting the Historical center of the city, but as we can see on the third picture, the territory is located right next to it. Master Plan also points out the need to design a bridge over Kuban river. So, the project of 40 hectares land includes multifamily houses with open and closed yards, one school, three kindergardens, a shopping mall, a restaurant and more. Yards are perfect space for both children and adults as there different zones with playgrounds, benches and a huge variety of sport fields. There is also undergroung parkings for residents alongside ground parking lots for visitors. Waterfront is now open to the public: you can walk there, watch the riverflow or ride a bike.

These multifamily houses have 6 floors, with decreasing height towards the river. Some of the appartments have big terracce, and I believe those will be very popular as Krasnodar is a southern city with warm climate. Since the buildings are located on the biggest walking pathway of the site, ground floor is designed to include commercial spaces and offices. This lets residents get everything they need in a walking distance. Disability access, no parking in the yards, spacious appartments with big windows and balconies. Symmetry is the focal accent of the main facade and it is being stressed by the color palette which helps us to feel the shape of the buildings. Material of the facades - natural stone tiling.

This historical Park in Kolpino, Leningrad oblast, is mentioned on the maps dated 1902, but the year it was found is still unknown. Summer theater was set up here in 1907 which looked like an open air stage where different kinds of perfomances were held. The park was open during summer time only. In 1970, this site was officially named as Kolpino Park, which actually united several parks and lands. Nowadays Kolpino Park operates all year round, there is a stage, a playground for children, bike rentals, amusement park and a boat station. Apparently, the land could be improved and used more efficiently and this beautiful place could include more attractions for visitors. This is how the project started. The main entrance greets visitors with the information cab and then they proceed to a mini flower park, which leads to the Cultural Center - the biggest building on the site. The idea of the Masterplan was to create a continuous pathways with different ‘stops’ such as Cultural Center, skate park or a cafe. There are three cafes now with various cusine. Another goal is to improve vegetation and plant new trees, check out the planting map. There is also car access to the site but no transportation is allowed on the territory of the Park except for the Fire Department. The amusement park is to be relocated closer to the waterfront and right next to it there should be organised a beach zone. This measures will make the Park more popular among the residents. Also, there are a lot of hidden and quiet places on the pathways among the trees. Some of them are very romantic!

ESPLANADE ‘THE NATURE OF RUSSIA’

TUNDRA

TAIGA

GRASSLAND

SEMI-DESERT

MOUNTAINS

The main idea of this project is to unite the existing site of the Museum called ‘Russia - My History’ with the Entertainment Complex by designing an esplanade which shows diversity of the nature in Russia. The land is divided into several natural zones just like the territory of Russia: tundra, taiga, grassland, semi-desert and mountains. Each zone is a modern and colorful representation of the particular ecoregion. Vegetation and plants are the main tool for this kind of stylization but they work alongside art objects and small architectural shapes such as benches, sculptures and gazebos. There is a navigation map at the entrance, which leads to the grassland where you can see the wheat ear shaped lights. This is a symbol of Stavropol region! Then, visitors proceed to the semi-desert, which is represented by a sandbox and a skatepark. There is also a nice and quiet place in taiga: you could read a book under huge trees. The mountains are basically the hilly landscape, unusual shapes and a climbing wall for children.
