Route Map for Chartered Accountant in India Chartered Accountant is a respected title in India. Every commerce student dreams of becoming a CA at least once. The prestige of CA is not only in name, but it is one of the highest-earning positions in India. A Chartered Accountant is the only person in a company who can certify the financial statements. Whereas, ICAI is a government body in India that handles the exams from its curriculum to degree distribution. Only 2,50,000 chartered accountants are working all over India, and this is a shocking figure because 50,000 students register for CA final exam every year. The CA exam is as tough as that
of the administrative services. Last year’s passing percentage of students in CA was only 18% of the total. But if you prepare for the exam in a planned manner, then nothing is impossible. First Milestone: CA Foundation Course Foundation is the entry stage of the CA journey. Foundation is the new form of CPT ICAI has included it to improve the admission process. So becoming a CA, you have to first register with the foundation. Students can register for this course from class 10th onwards. Candidates who have graduated from commerce can directly apply for admission to the second-level intermediate.
Students can fill the registration form by visiting the official website of ICAI. After the success of online registration and depositing the prescribed fee, you have 7 days to submit the hard copy of the online form and the following documents. ● Attested copy of 12th admit card and mark sheet issued by a valid board ● The latest colour photograph of the student should be pasted on the online registration form. ● Foreign students attested certificate of their nationality. ● Special category students like sc/st or OBS have a verified certificate, and disabled people are also instructed to attest to the certificate. ● Attested copy of 10th Admit card or Marksheet.
Once you are done with the registration process, ICAI will send you the course material at the address given on the form. To get admission to the CA foundation, you have to pay a fixed fee. The fee structure for Indian and foreign candidates is as follows.

Direct entry route vs CA foundation
The Direct Entry Route facilitates direct admission to Intermediate. Let us know which students ICAI gives direct admission exemption. Commerce Student- Commerce graduate students have a chance to skip the foundation, but to be covered under ICAI exemption, the student must have passed graduation with at least 55% marks. Non- commerce Student- If non-commerce graduates want to take advantage of the direct entry route, they must have passed with at least 60% marks in graduation.
Ex- CS Student- If a company secretary student opts for CA course, ICAI has placed him in the direct admission category to prevent one year of repetition. CMA Students- Passing the CMA course to intermediate level also has the right to skip the foundation in CA.
CA INTERMEDIATE Intermediate is the second stage of CA; only students who have passed the foundation or through direct entry get admission in it. Each level in Chartered Accountant in India has a separate registration. To register for Intermediate, you have to go to the official website of ICAI and open the student tab. Fill up the registration form again this time, it’s not going to be that complicated. After completing all the formalities and depositing the prescribed fee, submit the following documents to the nearest office within 7 days. Admission to Foundation 12 or an equivalently recognized mark sheet would have to be submitted. Students coming for direct admission have to submit their graduation or post-graduation mark sheets. And intermediate students in CS or CMA will have to submit the relevant certificate or mark sheet. The latest clear passport size photo should be affixed on the online registration form. Foreign student needs to submit their nationality proofs. Students belonging to SC or ST category will have to attach a certificate. Also, disabled candidates can attach their certificates to earn respective benefits from ICAI.
Practical Training
Practical/Artichleship training
The practical training or article ship is an important part of the whole CA course. This training allows you to put into practice the concepts learned in the theory course. Training exposes you to professional methods. You can learn the tricks to establish yourself in the business world during this training. The duration of practical training is of 3 years and whoever has completed intermediate gets admission in it.
Third Milestone for Chartered Accountant in India- CA Finals Now you are only one step away from becoming a chartered accountant in India , the CA final is the toughest level. There is no direct entry rule in the final, and only the students who have passed the intermediate get admission in it.
Students have to repeat the registration process again for the final as well. Fill the form given on the website and submit the following documents to the nearest office after 7 days. ● Nationality proof of student if he/she is a foreigner ● Special category and disabled students need to submit respective certification ● The student needs to pay 22,000 rs. to get the study material.
So once you clear all the hurdles then ICAI certifies you to sign any financial statement which will be valid everywhere.
