Creating green corridors to link biodiversity
Stockport is a town in Greater Manchester, England, that has a long history of industrial development. However, these industrial activities have left a lasting impact on its environment, such as air pollution, water contamination, and loss of biodiversity. Although some of the effects of the Industrial Revolution have been reduced over time, Stockport still faces challenges in achieving sustainability, which is defined as meeting the current needs of the population without compromising the needs of future generations. My aim is to address these challenges by applying sustainable design principles to the urban landscape of Stockport. By doing so, I hope to enhance the environmental quality, social equity, and economic vitality of Stockport. I will also align my work with the Climate Action Now plan that was adopted by Stockport Council in 2020, which sets a target for Stockport to be carbon neutral by 2038 and for Stockport Council to be net zero by 2030.

Defragmentation of the natural habitat
Preserving the character of stockport
Designing with the contours
Opportunity for the community to participate in community gardening to connect with nature and strengthen community bonds
Passive designs for houses
Conservation of biodiversity in our ecosystem
By connecting the existing natural habitat/existing patches by biodiverse green spaces to emnhance and conserve the biodiversity.
Interpretation of the Stockport site through Catherine Dee’s approch from the book ‘Form and Fabric’. A sketched understanding of the environmental quality of the place.
Zoning spaces which can be design inclusive, suitable for housing, soil rejuvenation and preservation of existing natural habitat.
Housing placed on top of the heighest contour for the view of the river and serene nature. Green roof for housing provides a blend with the surrounding vegetation and not fragment the natural habitat.
Houses staggered and intergrated with the existing vegetation as a sustainable and passive design approach. By giving green roofs for the houses to blend in the surrounding and not fragment the natural habitat.
One notable aspect of Stockport’s architecture is the extensive use of brick structures throughout the town. This architectural character of Stockport can be brought for the housing as a reminder of industrial past.

Sudini Jaipal Reddy Memorial is located on the banks of Hussain Sagar Tank bund in Spoorthi Sthalam, Hyderabad, India. Reddy’s allurement for capitalism, feminism, socialism, and other political ideologies are represented by the central 10 petals that is the heart of the memorial. The users get a peek into Reddy’s passion for environmentalism as they take a trip down the forest park. His life as an agriculturalist, politician, and further beyond are explored as the users venture deeper into the memorial.
The Sculpture garden has indigenous trees planted around. Each plant blooms in each season thus creating a different atmosphere every time throughout the year. The plant that blooms during July, the month of his death anniversary is planted behind the sculpture to bring the message of hope and signify compassion, love and warmth. The user reaching the Sculpture garden can sit and relax in the seating areas provided which are inscribed with texts that provide all the insight one needs to know about S.Reddy and his fascinating life.
