Happy Mother’s Day, May The 4th be with you!

May is full of holidays, commemorations, proclamations, awareness events, Star Wars celebrations, and tacos, yes… tacos! The 2nd Sunday of May we internationally celebrate Mother’s Day. I would like to personally wish my mother, Berardina Tedeschi, a very Happy Mother’s Day. I couldn’t have asked for a better role model. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without your unconditional love and support. Thank you mom, for being the best woman I know. Your strength, honesty, courage and resilience make me incredibly proud to be your daughter. To all mother’s, grandmothers, great grandmothers, and foster moms, I wish you all a very Happy Mother’s Day! Remember, successful mothers are not the ones that never struggle or get frustrated; they are the ones that never give up, despite the struggles and continue loving unconditionally. Observed yearly on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is a federal holiday that commemorates all men and women who have died in the line of duty while serving in the military for the United States of America. This 2022 Memorial Day will be celebrated on Monday 30. President Biden will give a speech on this day, and usually parades and other celebrations are hosted across the Nation to remember our fallen soldiers that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Please take a moment to remember them this Memorial Day. Multiple small businesses will be offering magnificent Memorial Day and Mother’s Day specials, one-of-a-kind offers, and fantastic discounts on merchandise, products, and services. media franchise observe it by rewatching the Star Wars movies, wearing costumes, sharing movie quotes and posting funny memes on social media. The date was chosen for the pun on the catchphrase “May The Force Be With You” as “May The Fourth Be With You.”

Also in May, many look forward to “Cinco de Mayo,” which is a holiday that celebrates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. Cinco de Mayo is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, but in the United States has evolved into a huge commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage. The Holiday is frequently confused with “Mexico’s Independence Day,” which in reality, takes place on September 16th.

Finally, I want to bring your attention that May also marks Lyme Disease Awareness Month.

Even though Lyme disease may not be too common here in Florida, you can still get infected. Take it from someone who is currently battling this debilitating and life-altering condition. I spent several years not knowing what was wrong with me, not understanding why I was feeling so sick and tired all of the time, until I was properly diagnosed by an infectious disease doctor. Fighting Lyme has been an uphill battle, but with the proper treatment, I am finally feeling like myself again. It’s been tough to open up to everyone about this, but if I can help raise awareness with my own story, then so be it. If you’re struggling to find a proper diagnosis, and you believe it could be Lyme related, please feel free to reach out to me directly at carla@nnlflorida.com and I will gladly share the health resources and specialists that have helped me live a healthier life, despite my diagnosis.

Until next time,

Carla Dubis Tedeschi
