Affordable Summertime Happiness
As a diehard bolts fan, I want to take this opportunity to say congratulations to the Tampa Bay Lightning for advancing onto the next round of the playoff series. It is looking like a three-peat, and I couldn’t be more proud of this incredible team. Summer is almost here, and so is the 90+ degree weather! Despite the heat, the humidity, and those afternoon showers, Tampa Bay is full of unique activities you can enjoy throughout the hot days of Summer. Here’s a list of some of my favorite activities you and your family can enjoy this Summer 2022 in Tampa Bay and surrounding areas without breaking the bank. 1. Beach it Up! - What better way to spend a weekend than soaking up the sun, playing some volleyball, hunting for seashells, enjoying a cold beverage, and exploring the 700+ miles of coastline that Florida has to offer! 2. Make a Splash! Take advantage of community pools, City of Tampa Parks and Recreation pools (free with REC card), splash pads, and places like the YMCA Tampa pools. 3. Go biking around your neighborhood, join a cycling club, and meet some new friends! Biking is a fun activity you can do with your whole family. If you’re looking to join a local group check out the Tampa Bay Cycling Meetup, One Love Cycling Club, and Psyclepaths, amongst others. 4. kayaking/paddleboarding - Some of the best spots include the Hillsborough River, Little Manatee River, Myakka River, Withlacoochee, Rainbow Rivers, Suwannee River, Chassahowitzka River, Silver Springs, Caladesi Island, and Weedon Island Preserve. 5. Try a new restaurant! Explore a new neighborhood where you don’t normally eat at. Become inspired and get ideas from our local advertisers; take advantage of their Summer Specials, offers, and coupons advertised on all editions of Tampa Bay News and Lifestyles. a beautiful sunset festival night. Sunsets at Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach operate year-round from two hours before, until two hours after sunset, weather permitting. The nightly sunset celebration features artisans, street performers, and world-famous Pier 60 sunsets. Current hours are 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. 7. Take a tour of Tampa Bay via water taxi, Pirate Water Taxi, or any other water vessel! Choose a day to explore and see our beautiful city of Tampa Bay from a new point of view. 8. Attend a free concert at Curtis Hixon Park during their Rock The Park series. Rock the Park is a free monthly music series showcasing Central Florida’s musical talents of all genres. Join us on the FIRST THURSDAY of every month at 6:30 pm at Curtis Hixon Park in Downtown Tampa, FL. 9. The Ringling Museum of Art - Admission is FREE on MONDAYS! One of the most photo-worthy museums around is the Ringling, located in Sarasota. This 66-acre estate was the legacy of John and Mable Ringling. The Ringling Museum of Art is The State Art Museum of Florida and has a remarkable collection of artwork, statues, circus history, and so much more. Be prepared to spend a whole day here, it’s worth it! 10. On a trip budget? Don’t worry, we live where others vacation! You don’t need to get on a plane to enjoy a luxurious experience in Paradise. Visit resortpass.com today, it makes exploring all the local resorts easy by selling you day passes to pools, spas, and access to all the amenities at some of the best hotels and resorts in town. Some hotels include The famous Don Cesar Hotel, The Fenway, and the Epicurean hotel.
I hope that gives you a few options to choose from when you wonder what to do this Summer.
Until next time,
