On Dec. 20, Amityville Memorial High School held a festive, holidaythemed Battle of the Classes in the school’s gymnasium. The culminating event for Spirit Week, classes

competed against each other in numerous games such as Hungry Hungry Hippo, a potato sack race, a balloon pop relay, hula hoop pass, and tug-of-war. Classes from each grade level filled the bleachers

as they proudly cheered on their respective classmates. After a competitive afternoon of events, the sophomores emerged as the winner of Battle of the Classes.

Classes competed against each other in tug-of-war at center court in the high school’s gymnasium.

Students also teamed up to play Hungry Hungry Hippo.

Recipe Of The Week: Outrageous Barbecued Nachos Serves 4-6

3 ounces (about 1 cup) pulled pork 3 ounces (about 1 cup) pulled chicken 3 ounces (about 3 slices) sliced and chopped barbecued brisket 1 1⁄2 cups favorite mild barbecue sauce 3⁄4 (10-ounce) bag tortilla chips 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese 1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese 15 pickled jalapeño slices Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 400 F. 2. Combine the meats and barbecue sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat. 3. Spread half of the tortilla chips on a small cookie sheet. Cover the chips with half of the meat and sauce. Top with half of each cheese. 4. Repeat the process on top of this layer, using the other half of the ingredients.

Winter Long Island Restaurant Week Starts January 26th!

The tri-annual and award winning Long Island Restaurant Week is warming up the winter season with an opportunity to bring customers into Long Island restaurants in the off season! In a recent survey sent to diners, over 70% said they are very likely to dine out during Restaurant Week again in the future, and more than 45% said they dine out twice during the promotion. The Winter edition will take place from Sunday, January 26th to Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, with several prix fixe options. Restaurants may offer a $24 two-course lunch, a $29 three-course dinner menu, a $39 three-course dinner menu and/or a $46 threecourse dinner prix fixe.
