Climb Definitions For any climb to be rated (receive a climb score/category) it must be at least 500 meters in length with an average grade of 3% or more. All climb scores are based on distance, grade/elevation change, and maximum elevation. The combination of these factors drives all final climb categories and there is no subjective analysis used in the final scoring of any climb score. All other climbs that do not meet the criteria for HC to Category 5 are simply too small to rate and can usually be crossed easily by bicycle, running, or walking. The original concepts for the MapMyFitness categorization of all climbs came from the categorized climb ratings given by the UCI for races like the Tour de France and other professional cycling events. Our methodology is unique in several ways to allow for categorizations to be relevant for all sports and we added an additional difficulty with category 5 climbs. HC climb - "Hors Categorie" - (a French term for above category) climbs are the hardest rating/score given to any climb. All climb scores are based on distance, grade/elevation change, and maximum elevation. The combination of these factors drives all final climb categories and there is no subjective analysis used in the final scoring of any climb score. HC climbs will traditionally be very long (over 10 miles), very steep (average grades above 8 to 10%), or very high (above 11,000 feet) but again some extremely steep or long climbs could alone qualify it as an HC rated climb. Category 1 Climb - These rated climbs are the next most difficult after HC climbs. The exactly same methodology is used in determining their difficulty as HC climbs but they fall next in terms of overall difficulty. All climb scores are based on distance, grade/elevation change, and maximum elevation. Category 2 Climb - These rated climbs are the next most difficult after Category 1 climbs. The exactly same methodology is used in determining their difficulty as Category 1 climbs but they fall next in terms of overall difficulty. All climb scores are based on distance, grade/elevation change, and maximum elevation. Category 3 Climb - These rated climbs are the next most difficult after Category 2 climbs. The exactly same methodology is used in determining their difficulty as Category 2 climbs but they fall next in terms of overall difficulty. All climb scores are based on distance, grade/elevation change, and maximum elevation. Category 4 Climb - These rated climbs are the next most difficult after Category 3 climbs. The exactly same methodology is used in determining their difficulty as Category 3 climbs but they fall next in terms of overall difficulty. All climb scores are based on distance, grade/elevation change, and maximum elevation. Category 5 Climb - These rated climbs are the least difficult of all the categorized climbs. The exactly same methodology is used in determining their difficulty as Category 4 climbs but they the least difficult of all the rated climbs. All climb scores are based on distance, grade/elevation change, and maximum elevation.

Day 1 - Sunday 17th October Mount Annan to Goulburn Today’s ride Overview • Following an exciting morning at church including a barbecue breakfast fundraiser we’ll set off on our journey. Pastor Andrew will pray for us and release us following the Praise and Worship time. • This day may prove to be one of our most difficult days. It’s predominantly up-hill to Goulburn with the first two thirds of the journey the toughest before it flattens out a little as we get close to the top of the Southern Tablelands. • Due to the later start we will keep on the Hume Highway to Mittagong and then get off the main road there. • It will likely be quite late in the day when we arrive in Goulburn but Day 2 will prove quite a deal easier so that will help. Details • Total Distance: 146 km • Devotion: Prayer of release by Pastor Andrew • Departure Time: 10.00 am approx. (arrive at church by 8.00 am) • Number of riding sessions: 4 • Anticipated breaks: • Break 1: Snack - 35km - Near Bargo exit • Break 2: Lunch - 71 km - Moss Vale • Break 3: Snack - 110km - Canyonleigh Road

Day 7 - Saturday 23rd October Morwell to Melbourne Today’s ride Overview • We’ll we’re nearly there! • After about 20km of low to mid range hill climbing early in the day we’ll be on the dead flat all the way to Melbourne. • We’ll put in quite a long ride before our first break but the last 10km will be a sharp descent so we shouldn’t notice it too much. If the hills get too much before that a 5 minute breather on the way up may be in order. • Although we’ll do our best to stay off the main highway there is one section of about 5 km that we’re set to ride on between Yarragon and Damum. Our support crew can go on ahead and try to scout us our a path that keeps us south of the freeway if possible. • We’ll hit the outskirts of Melbourne at about the 135km so we’ll need to look out for each other and rely heavily upon a support vehicles for support.
