The site plan (to the right) is of the National Art Gallery in Ottawa (hexagon patterns). The majority of the intervention is underground and can only be seen above ground with subtle clues.
THE SITE
THE INTERVENTION
he architectural interventions themselves are unfinished; they constantly burrow farther into the ground to accommodate for the constant additions of unfinished work. This is done using drills, scoops and pumps. The storage of the work can
be hazardous; spaces open to the elements cause damage to the work. Some of the documents become too withered and destroyed before the staff can properly finish and store the plays, choreography and musical notes.

he three sections shown are an attempt to extract design forms from the concept drawing. Each section was drawn in basic form on 3D modelling software and then printed on paper of the same size as the concept drawing (44” x 30”). The sections intend to represent the concept; they show that the building envelope is both vague and defined when constructed underground. It supports the issue of “self vs other” that the concept drawing explores.
Charcoal, pastels and acetone transfers were used to complete each drawing in a similar method to the concept drawing. Each section shows the different architectural structures that are meant to house unfinished work while also being unfinished themselves. They expand underground to ensure the unfinished works are mostly kept from clear view.

The goal to be achieved is full (while respecting cultures and beliefs) integration into a society. This raised the idea of weaving; weaving two or more strands, fabrics or materials elegantly into
a uniform fabric. The fabric creates a unified entity while maintaining its individual elements; there is a vast amount of connections in a fabric. This is the cause of its appeal and structure.

St. Luke’s Park
he site chosen for the housing development is located at St. T
Luke’s park in the city of Ottawa; the streets surrounding this small park are Frank, Gladstone and Cartier Street and act as transitions between fully residential and small commercial/residential areas.
Gladstone Street is the street that contains commercial buildings and is home to many small shops, restaurants and bars. Weaving the two building types of commercial and residential is also another goal for the housing project and seems feasible; the majority of buildings in the area are low to mid rise.

THE ISSUES
The goal of this project is to create a research centre for the town of Almonte in Ontario, Canada. The type of research project was the choice of the student; my research centre is built for the purpose of developing urban wind turbines due to many

issues with large commercial turbines placed around rural areas. Almonte is a small town with a potential to grow. This mirrors the current state of urban designed renewable energy.
Issues associated with commercial wind turbines include gears in the generators
malfunctioning, birds being killed by turning blades, disturbance of people and animals (caused by noise and shadow movement) and built-up ice being thrown from the large blades during winter season. Due to these issues, the constant goal of this proposed research building is to maximize
efficiency and reduce disturbance issues of urban wind turbines which would reduce the demand of commercial turbines. The building will be a necessary asset for the teaching of current turbine technology, production of prototypes and testing of prototypes.

h e site of the project is a small town called Almonte in Ontario, T
C anada. The proposed program for the project made the design very malleable; a smaller town equals less surrounding buildings to consider. There were many challenges, however; the new
research centre was to represent the town by being placed in the centre. More specifically, the building was to be placed on the site of Almonte’s town hall. The interaction between the town hall and the research centre was a difficult task to handle
Because the town is very small, the construction of a large educational centre will have a large impact on many aspects of the town. Also, because the research centre is geared towards urban wind turbine studies, a study of the urban setting is crucial. Therefore, a skyline of the town was created for the purpose of this project.
THE NOLI MAP
T he noli map shows the centralized location of the town hall, the migration of buildings around a body of water and the large percentage of residential buildings compared to industrial buildings. The wind rose for Almonte can be applied to the noli map to determine that the area has a variable wind speed throughout the year in many directions.

One can note the water on the right side of the image; this water is the main river that runs through the centre of the town and is situated beside the proposed research centre.
there is another entrance attached to the rear of the building and connects to the old railway tracks. The exterior sheathing of the building is re-furbished wood; this material is similar to the town hall’s brick because of its porous properties. The texture of the two materials, however, are different.
RAILWAY TRACKS CAN BE SEEN ON THE UPPER LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE IMAGE. ELEVATIONS PERSPECTIVES ways; the fans placed in the center of the tower naturally cool and ventilate the building during the warm summer months. The tower also contains circular staircase and is lookout tower; this surrounding landscape. The Tower is also used as test tower for wind turbines. Windows, crevices and beams are designed in the tower facilitate these test turbines as well as act as sculptural elements classrooms, offices and a small library (left hand side of the section). The tower also acts as symbol for innovation and creativity while visually connecting the proposed design with the existing town hall. PLANS
I began to experiment more with charcoal drawing after graduating from my bachelor’s of architecture degree. I feel there could be something useful in the strokes, scratches and rubbing of the ‘dirty’ medium on paper. want to develop these drawings into something unique and clear—to develop it into a signature. I want to take the spatial layers of these drawings and turn them into something more—to turn them into spaces. I find the hardest part of these drawings lately is to find a story and meaning to them. The excitement of the drawing has no depth without trying to find a meaning. think a drawing style like this has a lot of potential to be something great. I also think these drawings could be easily cast aside or ignored if attention, care and hard work are not given to them.

developed a love for photography during my undergraduate degree at Carleton University under the guidance of my professor David LePage. see photography as a combination of documentation and a way to tell a story. have been using photography lately purely as an emotional and visual record of my travels to different cities and places as have moved from Canada to Europe since 2018.

DAVITT ROAD
Placed in charge of creating and submitting the amendment application for this project. The project is currently in the working drawing stage and has undergone minor changes in order to satisfy building code. This submission involved setting up a series of drawings showing proposed versus granted drawings and highlighting the changes made in the working drawing stages of the design. The amended set of drawings included highlighted floor plans, elevations and building statistics.
CRODAUN
Residential project in which assisted in the submission for planning approval to Kildare County Council. Working with 3 to 4 team members, we finished drawings for duplex and terraced house layouts submission (Plans, sections, elevations). Ensured consistency with graphics and set up drawing sheets for submission using AutoCAD. Created site model and brief shadow study for submission using Google SketchUp/ AutoCAD. Additionally assisted in completion of contiguous elevations; added detail to drawings and incorporated landscape into elevations. Also assisted in other minor documents.
MALAHIDE ROAD
Participated in the submission of this two tower apartment scheme for planning approval in order to meet submission deadlines. Completed sections & elevations using AutoCAD and provided additional support for completion of floor plans. Calculated floor areas and recorded statistics for schedule of accommodation and housing quality assessment. Also assisted with physical submission of project for planning approval.

ICON ARCHITECTS
WATERVIEW CONDOS
Waterview Condominiums consists of two high rise buildings in two phases. I entered the project when Phase 1 was breaking ground and Phase 2 was going through site plan approval for an additional six stories from the original design. SPA was completed by ICON while the construction drawings were given to a drafting company called TechniCAD. was tasked with minor revisions for resubmission of site plan approval (co-ordinating with building permit drawings from techniCAD, creation of black line drawings for marketing purposes and review of building permit/construction drawings).
5451 LAKESHORE ROAD U.C. TOWNS DEVELOPMENT
U.C. Towns is a joint project in Oshawa, Ontario. Canada with ICON Architects and Cassidy and Company. The three phase project consists of multiple blocks of six-eight townhouse units. The buildings were four stories in height which is not permitted in single family homes; a code consultant filed a code report to the city of Oshawa with additional code requirements to ensure the safety of the occupants in the proposed buildings. ICON’s role was to review/stamp the drawings that Cassidy and CO. had created for submission and to perform monthly site visits with final reviews to permit occupancy.
5451 Lakeshore road was a development with seven highend regular townhouse units. The narrow lot size only permitted an entry/exit lane with one block of townhouses. The townhouses were larger in square footage than a typical townhouse and were specified with higher quality materials. had taken over the submission of the site plan approval while also creating a set of drawings for building permit submission. Construction details were created by referencing previous construction drawings from ICON and TechniCAD.

PWC BREAK ROOMS & ATRIUM STATE STREET BANK
The PWC break rooms were prefabricated to reduce the amount of time required on site. The room partitions were created using glazed and paneled crittall walls and were installed at early stages of construction to also act a hoarding during the interior fitout. Careful planning was required to meet the tight deadlines requested by the client. I had surveyed and designed the layout of these two break rooms including the furniture, crittall walls, kitchen and services. was also responsible for creating drawings/visuals for client approval, managing the procurement of finishes, furniture and equipment for this project.
Involved in this project to work with the architect on approving bespoke front-of-house designs for the building’s canteen. This involved developing servery counters, pay counters and self-serve counters using Sketchup 3D and V-Ray for initial approval. Fabrication drawings were then developed and later approved via viewpoint for final production. The work involved developing finish details for stone counters, joinery, tile, powder coated panels and stainless-steel panels. Services were incorporated in counter designs including waste, water supply, electrical outlets and required isolator, pole spur switches. Responsible for sourcing and ordering tile finish on-budget and matching architect’s specifications. Worked with stainless steel fabricator for steel frame and metal panel details. On-site duties included site survey for fabrication drawings as well as on-site coordination with stone contractor for final counter-top details.
DUBLIN AIRPORT LOUNGES
Kaneco was hired to survey and assess the food offers of five Dublin Airport lounges including the proposal of a new lounge. was placed in charge of carrying out detailed surveys of each lounge kitchen/servery space and working with a Kaneco director to propose improved cooking layouts. This task proved challenging as space in each kitchen lounge was quite limited. There was an element of determining how Mise En Place could be used in each kitchen depending on each offer intended. The proposal of a new lounge also offered the opportunity to build a larger kitchen as a “support” or production kitchen for the other kitchens using packaging and hot hold equipment. Layouts were proposed for each kitchen using AutoCAD with detailed legends of proposed equipment.
