Dear Prospective Purchaser,

H O M

Welcome to your new home! This house has been my home for eight and a half years, and I hope it will be your next home. I’m getting married, and I’ll miss the house, but my loss is your gain!

One of the things I’ll miss most is the kitchen. I love to cook, and in 2008 the kitchen was redesigned and completely remodeled from the perspective from somebody who actually uses the kitchen to cook. That means that there’s tons of storage, the flow is good, there’s a big sink, and there’s a great stove. Of course, it’s not just functional, it’s also beautiful. There are black granite countertops, Kraftmaid cabinets, great LED under-cabinet lighting, and tile flooring. My fiancee and I have made some memorable meals over the years, and it’s been the scene of some fun times on my own as well. Many of my favorite memories are from the brick patio in back -- it’s what originally drew me to the house. It’s a leafy, private getaway where my friends and I have grilled many meals. There are tons of bulbs, so in the spring there’s a burst of color, then all the other plants start blooming. In the summer the Japanese maple provides shade beneath its deep red leaves. The house backs to trees, so it’s fun to just sit outside on a pleasant day and read a book -- or work from home.

E

The airy living room has been host to many fun movie nights and to game nights with friends -- nothing’s better than an evening spent sitting around a coffee table proving that you know more useless trivia than your friends! Upstairs, it’s great to sit in my office (the master bedroom) -- it’s nice to be able to look out the window and see a sunset! Of course, the walk-in closet is a great place to store all my stuff, though my fiancee is convinced it should be filled with shoes instead. The master bathroom is also a favorite, with its walk-in shower with rain shower head (a great way to wake up!), and new tile and lighting. The new carpet with softer underlayment on the top floor feels great underfoot, too. Elsewhere in the house, the big basement would make a perfect place to turn into a home theater, and it’s also got brand new carpet. The new dryer in the laundry room is great -- it’s got lots of room and a steam clean mode for getting those pesky wrinkles out. Of course, I like to get out of the house frequently, and it’s great to be so close to both Rt. 28 and I-66. Since I work in Reston, it’s easy to hop on 28 and head north, and if I’m heading into DC, I can just get on 66 and take it all the way in (or to the Metro). There’s a Giant right down the road, and a little farther there’s a great Vietnamese restaurant nearby called Pho Aura -- my fiancee and I will miss it! The elementary school is a short walk from the back of the house, which has been very convenient for voting. I’m an amateur landscape photographer and I love nature, so it’s been great to have Cub Run park a short walk (or bike ride) from the front door. Farther afield, it’s been nice to be close to Manassas National Battlefield Park, which is just a few miles down Route 29. It’s a great place to go and learn about history, or go for a job, or just to go and watch the sun set. Over the years, I’ve had a lot of great neighbors, and everyone in the neighborhood is friendly. We loan each other tools, and help out when people need help. For example, when a neighbor’s house had some plumbing issues last year and created a big mess, people from up and down the street pitched in to help clean up! It’s going to be tough to say goodbye to the house -- I’ve had so many great memories here -- but I hope that the new owners will love it just as much as I do!

-Tom
