Brethren,
Unfortunately Nellis 46 has developed a disturbing problem whereby 28 Brothers have failed in this duty. But what I find even more of a concern is that we have lost touch with those Brothers.

During our April Stated Meeting I remarked how the best fundraiser we have each year is collecting on our dues. As a member of the Fraternity one assumes many responsibilities and duties, one of which is the prompt payment of his annual dues.
In an allegorical sense our fundraising/dues issue is actually a brotherhood and communication issue. The lack of payment is only a symptom of a greater problem: that of having lost touch with so many of our members. I entreat each of you that if you do not find this trend alarming, you should. Harmony is the support of all institutions, especially this of ours, and it appears that we may be out of harmony in this regard. While it is necessary for us as an organization to address the financial component it is more important for the long term health of the lodge to maintain good communication with its members. If you happen to be one of the members who has not paid his dues for this year (or perhaps 2014 as well), we understand, what concerns us is we have not heard from you! In this day and age there are many ways to make contact with us: phone, mail, email, Facebook, our website and of course the best way would be to attend our next Stated meeting. If you are on Facebook simply perform a search using Nellis Masonic Lodge #46, all of our other contact information is conveniently placed on the front page of this Trestleboard. Sincerely,
pleasant and cordial. Along this vein I would offer up some interesting trivia.
Unity, is special among brethren. ... Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
In ancient Israel, heavily fragranced (precious ointments) oils were poured on the heads of people to be honored. ...It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments... . (I always wondered what that meant)
As we each aspire to be brothers in the belief of god, we are then all covered by the protection of god. We are then endowed with life forever. ...As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore... . As it happens, Mount Hermon sits between modern Syria and Lebanon. Mount Zion is where Jerusalem was built and is also known as the temple mount. King Solomon's temple originally built on Mount Zion, was destroyed in 587 BC by king Nebuchadnezzar II By the Plumb,
Dennis Tyson
