Brothers, We have had an exciting year so far!!! Let’s look at what has happened recently… St Baldrick’s Team Nellis 46 F&AM raised over 8000.00 to help aid Children’s Cancer Research and Treatment… Nelson Sardelli was awesome by raising over 4500.00 on his own for this great charitable foundation… We all look a little funny running around with no hair…

Jeff Byrne Worshipful Master 2013

I really enjoyed our March Stated Meeting; it was opened by W. Al Schouten Pm. After 50 years he still has the stuff, a great job was done by all the Officers in assisting him!!! Al will be back for our December Stated, to close out the 50th Anniversary activities of our lodge… The Present… We will be voting at this months Stated Meeting on the purposed ByLaws changes and dues increases. There will be no discussion at this meeting as an opportunity for that was provided at the March Stated Meeting… The Future… A lot of excitement is in store for our Lodge… The 50th Anniversary Celebration of Nellis Lodge, “A Roast of W. Al Schouten PM.” will be held on April 30th at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. It will start at 6pm with “No Host” Cocktails, with dinner at 7pm. Tickets are 30.00 per person and are available through the Secretary or myself. Ticket requests/checks can be sent to the lodge in care of W Bro. Jim and the tickets will be mailed to you… Our outdoor degree will be at High Twelve on May 4th at Rainbow Canyon Ranch… Please see W. Mike Clark for room and meal reservations. This will be pretty much the same as it has been for the last couple of years… Social hour on Friday night, degree on Saturday, Sporting Activities afterwards followed by another Social hour, breakfast CONTINUED 5

on Sunday and the ride home. The candidate slated for this degree is Rick Wall; please make plans to join us for this great Nellis Lodge Tradition!!!! Oh, by the way… There have been several complaints that Brothers cannot hear what is going on during lodge and suggestions that a “Walking Mike” set up would help… There are several questions that immediately pop up… What kind of system will best work for us? How much will it cost? Where will the money come from to cover the cost? Who will install it? I am looking for a Brother to volunteer to head a committee to answer these questions… Until improvements are made in the sound system, if you are having difficulty hearing what is going on I would recommend that you sit to the East Side of the Lodge as most of the conversations are directed to the East… Remember… Like us on Facebook, to chat with our Brothers and check our Web page for schedule changes and Calendar updates!! Fraternally, Jeff

Harold Scalzo, Jr. April 24, 1901, President Theodore Roosevelt received his 3rd degree. Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt (October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919) was the 26th President of the United States (1901–1909). He is noted for his exuberant personality, range of interests and achievements as a naturalist, explorer, hunter, author, and soldier are as much a part of his fame as any office he held as a politician. Roosevelt was 42 years old when sworn in as President of the United States in 1901, making him the youngest president ever; he beat out the youngest elected president, John F. Kennedy, by only one year. Roosevelt was also the first of only four sitting presidents to have won the Nobel Peace Prize.
