Brothers, During the January Meeting of the Trustees, Master, Wardens, Secretary, Treasurer, and the Finance Committee it became apparent that our Lodge has been operating in the “Red” for the last few years. During this meeting it was decided that a motion should be made during the February Stated Meeting to change our present dues structure, this motion has been made and seconded. The motion consisted of a raise in our present dues from Fifty (50.00) to Fifty Jeff Byrne Five (55.00) dollars and a change in the wording of our by-laws from Worshipful “Grand Lodge Assessment” to “Grand Lodge Fee’s”. This would Master 2013 allow the cost of Insurance charged to us by the Grand Lodge and the Assessment for the George Washington Memorial, a total of Five (5.00) more Dollars as of this time, be added to our present annual membership fees. Making a total increase of your yearly membership cost from Seventy Five (75.00) to Eighty Five (85.00) Dollars… This motion has been tabled to our March Stated Meeting to allow discussion. Members will be able to voice their opinion; out of respect to the other Members of the Lodge, please come prepared, you will be allotted 1 minute to express your position… The Trustees are also working on updating and correcting our By-Laws. Over time some of the phrases and words that have been used in the past have lost or changed in their meaning, the Trustees will present a list of purposed changes at our April Stated Meeting for your consideration. A vote on all the purposed changes will be held during our April Stated Meeting. Please plan to be present at both Stated Meetings. Please mark April 30th on your calendar!!! A Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Nellis Lodge will be held at the Orleans Hotel and Casino, Starting at 6pm with NO HOST Cocktails, dinner and entertainment (The Roast of Our Charter Master W Al Schouten) to follow. The cost is 30.00 per person; tickets are available through the Secretary or Me. I would like to thank all the Brothers who are participating on our St Baldricks Team!!! Donations are off to a great start, thanks to “Hap” Hendrix. “Hap” will be knighted this year; this is the Seventh time for him to participate in this very worthy cause!!! Our Team is scheduled to have their time in the Barbers Chair at approximately 3:30 on March 2nd, we will be gathering at McMullan’s at approximately 1pm, to get prepared for the “Chair”!!! Don’t forget to wear a Masonic Logo shirt… Please remember to check our Web Page for calendar updates (Degrees and Practices) and “Like” us on Facebook!!! Fraternally Yours Jeff

The majority of my articles will be based on masonic education. March 3, 1753 George Washington received his Fellow Craft degree in Fredericksburg Lodge in Virginia. Washington promotes words, "private virtue and public prosperity" and advocate for religious tolerance March 6, 1775 several black men, including one named Prince Hall, were initiated into Freemasonry in Boston. This marked the beginning of what became a huge movement or organization in the United States known as Prince Hall Masonry, Senior Warden composed of African Americans. On March 6, 1775, Harold Scalzo, Jr. Prince Hall and fourteen other free African Americans of Boston were made Master Masons in an Army lodge attached to one of General Gage's regiments, then stationed near Boston. This lodge granted Prince Hall and his brethren authority to meet as a lodge, to go in procession on St John's Day, and as a lodge to bury their dead, but they could not confer degrees nor perform any other Masonic 'work. March 17, 1848 the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Washington DC was established March 9, 1822 a national Masonic Congress was held in Washington DC, in the U.S. Capitol building. On March 23, 1887 Sir Arthur Conan Doyle received his 3rd degree in Edinburgh Scotland. He was knighted on August 9, 1902. On March 25, 1902 Sir Winston Churchill received his 3rd degree in Stud holme Lodge #1591, London. Our annually baseball night will be May 30, 2013 at 7:30pm. The Las Vegas 51’s will be playing the Reno Aces and will be $1.00 beer night. The tickets will be $10.00 includes a 51’s baseball hat. Ticket will be available later this month. See me for tickets. Friends and family are welcome. Congratulations all my brothers who are celebrating birthday in March. On the level Fraternally Yours Harold Scalzo Jr. Senior Warden

Masonic Youth Observance Month The Founders of the Masonic Youth Organizations Ethel Theresa Wead Mick (March 9, 1881 – February 21, 1957) is the founder of the Masonic girls' organization The International Order of Job's Daughters (now known as Job's Daughters International) and served as its first Supreme Guardian. She was born in Atlantic, Iowa to William Henry Wead and Elizabeth Delight Hutchinson Wead, the youngest of four siblings. She was brought up in a close-knit, very religious family. Her mother read stories from the Bible every evening and often made reference to the Book of Job, hoping that her daughters would become "as fair as the daughters of Job". This influence eventually resulted in the founding of the Order of Job's Daughters in 1920, so named in honor of her mother. The group became International in 1931 when a group opened in British Columbia, Canada. Wead met William Mick while attending Creighton Medical College in Omaha, Nebraska. They were married in May 1904 and had two daughters, Ethel and Ruth. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies including oil painting, singing, reading, traveling and participating in several different fraternal organizations and civic clubs. She died in Cleveland, Ohio, and is buried in Omaha.

A business and community leader in Kansas City, Land served as Imperial Potentate of the Shriners and is revered today as the Founder of the Order of DeMolay. He became a member of the Ivanhoe Lodge #446 on June 29, 1912 in Kansas City. His position was the Secretary of the Social Service Bureau of the Scottish Rite Bodies. Married Miss Nell M. Swiezewski on September 15, 1913 at Budd Park Christian Church, his best man was Sumner N. Blossom. He died on November 8, 1959 and is interred at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City.[2]
The idea for the order of the Rainbow for Girls originated with, and the Ritual was written be Rev. W. Mark Sexson, a Minister in the First Christian Church, a Past Grand Master and a Past Grand Patron (in Oklahoma). W Mark Sexson was born in Missouri July 8, 1877. As a Rainbow Girl we recognize this day each year as the Founder's birthday. W Mark Sexson became a Master Mason in Indiana, achieved the 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite in Oklahoma, was a Royal arch Mason, Grotto member, Past Worthy Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Knights' Templar. My brothers if you have not experienced the 29 degrees of the Scottish rite you should take a look at them. They give you more meaning and light on the three Masonic degrees you have already revived. The Master Mason is the highest degree but the 29 Scottish Rite degrees can give you more meaning of what Masonry. Is about as well as supporting the speech clinic. If you would like to hear more you can contact me at mclarkmjc@gmail.com. you will not be disappointed. The reunion is coming up in April an we need your application before then to be accepted.
