UW environmental power couple Susan and Steve Carpenter spend their free time restoring 100 acres of prairie in Wisconsin’s Driftless Area. The married duo met on campus as graduate students, and both went on to work for the university: Susan as the Arboretum’s native plant garden curator, and Steve as a (now emeritus) professor of limnology and integrative biology.
