Festival Easter meets ANZAC numbers explode It is game on for party lovers in Nelson with another nine events confirmed for the Game On festival during the Rugby World Cup this spring. The total number of events now sits at 23, ranging from Russian-themed concerts, to beer festivals and golf tournaments. The festival is jam-packed with activities, aimed at providing entertainment for tourists in between games and allowing locals to enjoy the tournament in their own backyard. The Rugby World Cup is the third largest sporting event in the world and three games will be played in Nelson during the latter half of September and early October. Teams to play here include Italy, United States of America, Russia and Australia. RWC 2011 regional director Susan Coleman, says she is excited about the line up and the continued interest in the festival. “We’ve now got a great range of events, and events that will appeal to a wide range of people.” The nine new events are a WOW Rugbythemed exhibition at the World of Wearable Art Museum; exhibitions at the Suter Art Gallery; a production at Wakatu Marae; Oi You! an urban art festival; live performances at the Nelson School of Music; Taste Nelson; a Russian-themed concert at the Playhouse; Mixed foursomes golf championship and a Nelson Cycle Festival. Other events include a re-enactment of the first game of rugby in New Zealand and CBD market nights.

It won’t happen for another 27 years, but that will be little comfort for workers who missed out on a stat holiday this year, thanks to Easter Monday and ANZAC Day falling on the same day. But not everyone was upset about the anomaly, with the dual holiday making it extra special for some local Christians. The annual WWI Soldiers Memorial service on Church Hill is organised by the Nelson Cathedral and Nelson City Council and Revs’ Yvonne McLean and Jude Benton were there representing the church and say it has been a special long weekend for them. The Cathedral had already hosted Good Friday and Easter Sunday celebrations over the weekend. Nelson mayor Aldo Miccio was at the WWI memorial service and says the day was special for many Nelsonians. “I was impressed by the number of people that turned up for ANZAC Day services around the region and especially the number of young people.” But for many Nelsonians the rest over the long weekend has been tempered with the knowledge that they will miss out on one statutory holiday this year with both holiday’s falling on the same day. However, there will be some wait before the next meeting of the two public holidays. Easter Monday will not coincide EXTRA SPECIAL HOLIDAY: Rev Yvonne McLean and Rev Jude Benton at a WWI Soldiers Me- with ANZAC Day again until morial service at Church Hill on Easter Monday and ANZAC Day. NEWS IN BRIEF

Voting closes tonight The race to win our front page is now in its final hours and far from the fight becoming fierce, it seems our finalists are becoming friends! The three finalists were drawn last week and have spent a week collecting votes via the Nelson Weekly Facebook page and email. Currently in the lead is Kaz Halkett who wants to put the unique fundraising team at Nayland Primary School on the front page. She has over 100 votes with Jacqui Irwin on 70, at the time of print, and Sharon Tarapipipi with 35 votes. That does not include email votes though, of which more than 40

have already been collected. The winner of the competition will get to tell us what to put on our front page for next week’s issue. But the three finalists have all wished each other luck and even voted for each other, hoping they all win and get their story in Nelson Weekly. But there must be one winner and voting closes at midnight tonight. So log on to Facebook and lodge your vote for what you would like to see on our front page. Winners will be announced in next week’s paper. To send your vote via email, sent it to editorial@nelsonweekly.co.nz.

• More than six flights were delayed arriving and departing Nelson Airport yesterday due to heavy fog. The fog, which blanketed Tahunanui and Annesbrook up until 10am, meant some flights were delayed by more than one hour. One Wellington flight was detoured to Blenheim before returning to Nelson when the fog had cleared.

• Mountain bikers can ride the Heaphy Track for five months from Sunday 1 May. It is the start of a winter-season mountain biking trial on the 78-kilometre Kahurangi National Park track that will run from 1 May to 30 September over three years. Department of Conservation Golden Bay Community Relations Manager Greg Napp said the Heaphy Track trial opened up an outstanding multi-day back country riding experience.

Thousands mark ANZAC Day at dawn parade Around 2000 people rolled out of their beds to pay their respects at the annual Dawn Parade in central Nelson on Monday. The parade, from Millers Acre to Anzac Park, was followed by the traditional pomp of the service, including the singing of the New Zealand and Australian anthems, the lowering and raising of the flag and the playing of the last post. New RSA president Buzz Falconer addressed the crowd to say he was thrilled to see another strong turn out from Nelsonians. Again, a strong feature of the crowd was the number of children present, many wearing medals from past relatives. RSA vice president Barry Pont, says the service was another memorable one and the support and respect shown by Nelsonians meant a lot to the veterans who were present for the early morning

service, which started at 6.15am. “It was very, very good. Each year the crowds seem to be getter larger and larger, with fewer of us,” he joked. Also in the crowd were four Vietnam veterans from Australia who were in Nelson visiting. Barry says they were impressed with the signing of the Australian national anthem, the first time it has been done for the Dawn Service in Nelson. But it wasn’t just the Dawn Service attracting all the people. The mid-morning service in Stoke attracted around 700 people says Nelson mayor Aldo Miccio, who attended both services, along with the World War I service at the Church Steps. “As a nation we still draw inspiration from the sacrifices that were made in past conflicts so it’s great that so many people come out to support ANZAC Day.”

Mums run for healthy hearts More than 600 women have donned red over the last two years in the Jennian Homes Mothers Day 5km and Averil West, Nelson’s Heart Health Advocate of the Heart Foundation, is ready for another wave for this year’s event. The bulk of the field are “completers rather than competitors” says Averil, which is the philosophy behind this event where women come out to support a charity with a focus of stopping New Zealanders dying prematurely from heart disease. “By joining us on May 8 women will help raise the awareness of the problem and can take our heart health message out to the wider community. We need everyone to take steps to make changes that will give them long-term better health.” Start and finish of the event is at Jennian Homes’ Champion Rd premises, where principles, Simon and Kylie Collett and their team have actively embraced the event to show their support for the work of the Heart Foundation. The course, other than one road crossing, is entirely traffic free, providing a safe event says Averil, especially for the many mum’s pushing baby buggies. All event and entry information can be found on www.nelsonevents.co.nz where online entry is now available. Lions collect 70kg of coins from library It’s a good thing Nelson Pakeke Lions member Roy Chandler likes heading to the Elma Turner Library. He, along with other members of the group, have had to regularly visit to empty the massive amounts of coins donated to its Heads Up collection. The Heads Up campaign gives people an opportunity to drop in any old or foreign money which will

be swapped at the Reserve Bank and donated to charities benefiting youth in New Zealand. The drive started last June but the popularity of the tins at the Nelson library has meant an extended stay says Roy. “It’s been a really successful fundraiser but I didn’t think we would still be taking as much as we are out of one place. The library has been fantastic, so much has been

donated there and the library staff have been very helpful.” More than 70kg of old coins has been collected from the library. Tens of thousands have been raised in the national drive so far and Roy says the tin will continue to stay at the library until the coins dry up. “People are obviously still happy to bring in their old coins so we will continue to collect them.”

HEART LADIES: Carolyn Campbell and Shelley Burge, will again be there ready to hand out the tees.

Man arrested after stabbing attack Nelson Police have arrested a man following a brutal stabbing in Richmond over the weekend. Detective Pat Nally, of Nelson, says police have spoken with the three people they believed were present during the attack and have subsequently charged a 28 year-old Richmond man with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. A 22 year-old Richmond man was stabbed multiple times in the head, face, throat and shoulders about 12.30am outside the Richmond police station in Queen St. He was previously known to police. The victim was walking along the street on crutches and was accompanied by a woman when the attack occurred.

His injuries are not life-threatening and he was treated at Nelson hospital and has since been discharged. The arrest was made after police called for information from the public about the attack. Pat says business owners were quick to offer surveillance footage.“I’d like to thank the public for coming forward so quickly and also the business owners who have taken time away from their families on a public holiday to make video footage available to us.” The man arrested has been bailed to appear in the Nelson District Court on Wednesday 27 March. Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the attack.

Food, fun games and activities, prizes, bouncy castle—heaps of fun for all ages

Numerous air-raids struck Founders Heritage Park, as locals got a first hand experience of war over Easter. Nazi soldiers, air-raids, machine gunshots, wartime food, seminars from international historians and a locally written drama were all on show at the fourth annaul Lest We Forget ANZAC event, as entrants could see, feel and taste the experiences. Nelson’s Dramatix Theatre Development Trust team put on another tremendous two days of interactive living history for hundreds of people visiting the heritage park. Organiser TJ Ramsay writes an original piece of theatre for the event every year, and this time it was Nylons and Knicker Elastic, which focused on nine English women and girls caught in an underground bomb shelter in Broads Green during a 1940s air raid. “Broads Green was a real underground railway station which was bombed in 1940. Though this play is set in 1943, Nylons and Knicker Elastic is a remembrance of such times, places and people who met through extraordinary circumstances,” says TJ. Wartime food was on the menu for the first time in the four years the event has been running. Carrot jam, trench pudding and woolton pie was available for those dearing enough to try the rations. Sirens sounded warning entrants of the coming air-raid. You could either flee to the neighbouring shelter, or watch on as soldiers combat the sky with rifles. Wartime firefighters were even on hand to extinguish any damage caused in the attack from above. A confronting Nazi soldier kept locals on the guard, requesting to see identity papers at any time. The papers were handed to all participants as they arrived. Acknowledged Pacific War expert and author Bruce Petty held seminars to the public, giving them an informed detail READY, AIM, FIRE: Michael Chubb and Darrin Ellis fire during one of the of war. Nelsonians still head to ‘soggy’ Mapua fair Despite a boggy Mapua fair grounds, thousands still braved the poor weather to attend the popular Mapua Easter Fair on Sunday. From hot donuts and coffee to arts and crafts and the ferris wheel, the Mapua Easter Fair was once again hit. Perhaps not for icecream makers though with people in search of something to keep them warm or dry. Several Nelson stall holders made the trek into Tasman territory for the popular Easter fair with many saying it was great to see so many braving the damp and cold to support the event. The event raises money for the Mapua School and Mapua Playcentre.

e d n a r g o h muc Nelson art off to cheer up Haiti Hundreds of special messages and artwork dedicated to Haiti are being personally delivered by Emily SansonRejouis this week. Last year Emily set up the Kenbe La Foundation charitable trust to provide educational opportunities for children in need. The foundation is in memory of her husband, Emmanuel Rejouis, and daughters, KofieJade, 5, and three-year-old Zenzie Rejouis, tragically killed in the Haiti earthquake. The foundation also established Purple Cake Day as a specific day to celebrate and connect children from around the world. Emily will spend three weeks in Haiti working on the co-ordination of a school building project. With her, she is taking piles of colourful artwork, designed by Nelson school students at the Kids 4 Kids art program on Purple Cake Day, to help decorate schools and orphanages in Port-au-Prince, who themselves celebrated Purple Cake Day. “It’s really symbolic because the children of Haiti don’t have access to paper and pens, let alone something to decorate their classrooms and make them lively,” Emily says. Special messages of support and flags, designed by children throughout New Zealand and the United States, have also been packed in her suitcase. This trip will be the first time Emily has returned to Haiti since the quake, however, she says it will be a “really positive journey” doing constructive work, helping the Haitian community. She would like to thank the Nelson community and the local children who have connected with the children of Haiti. “It’s the support of the community that has made this happen.”

More ANZAC Day photos Hearing Advantage - Hearing For Life Hearing loss can develop at any time. The most common cause is nature. Our bodies simply weren’t designed to function perfectly throughout the whole of our lives. While not everyone will experience hearing loss as we get older, the majority of us will. It is as normal as graying hair or changes in eyesight. There’s no reason to ignore hearing loss, so if you are experiencing hearing difficulties, having your hearing tested by a Hearing Advantage audiologist is a great start to regaining the sounds you love.

David Canning

David Canning is not a time waster. Since moving to Nelson from Christchurch after the earthquake he has already proven why he had such a fantastic reputation in the garden city – he gets things done. Since starting at Harcourts Nelson in March David has been actively seeking business and already has eight listings to his name after leaving 25 behind in Christchurch. David started as a Real Estate agent in September 2009. He was named as Harcourts Canterbury Rising Star of the Year (rookie) in March 2010 and was the number 10 agent for Harcourts Canterbury (out of more than 500 agents). David has over 10 million dollars worth of settled sales to his name in just a year of business, and is well on his way to 20 million. When you employ a real estate agent you want someone who is committed to getting the best result for you. David brings people and property together and he consistently achieves sales in all price brackets and all market conditions. David works with his partner Hayley Elkins who was also named Rising Star of the year at her previous company. Together they have four children and he says Nelson is the perfect place to bring them up. “I’m excited about being here, we love the lifestyle and look forward to being involved in the community. If you would like to hear more about David’s enthuastic approach to selling your home, give him a call today.

Want to make your own power? The team at Freedom Energy can help you achieve your goal. It does not matter if you are based in the urban area, you too can operate a photovoltaic power system on your home or business. With a grid-tied system you do not have to be without the convenience of your appliances and you don’t have the hassles of maintaining a battery to store your power. What is grid-tie? It is a technology that allows you to produce power and supply it back into the grid, earning you credits, and you can then consume power when you need it. If your system is matched to your consumption it is possible to achieve electricity neutrality over the year. The team at Freedom Energy has a combined 25 years experience in Nelson/Tasman with both grid-tie and stand-alone power system design, supply and installation. They select from a wide range of quality products to tailor a system to suit your needs and are strong in after-sales support. Freedom Energy will liaise with the power and lines companies to get the forms completed. Phone Jon 0274 676 527 or Bruce (03) 526 8089 today to discuss your requirements today.

Making concrete look attractive is no easy job, but local firm ConcRetex Nelson LTD have it down to a fine art. They are the makeup artists of the concrete world. Geoffrey and Phillip Chilton are the father and son team with over 20 years combined experience working with concrete, and they don’t mind being called makeover specialists or even concrete beauticians. They carry out concrete resurfacing, grinding and polishing that turns ordinary old concrete into something you can be proud of. They specialise in resurfacing existing concrete and can complement your existing decor with an unlimited range of colours. These coatings are hard wearing, slip resistant and come with a 5 year warranty. Grinding, polishing and sealing your existing concrete with a range of finishes is also an expanding part of their business. These finishes are suitable for: New and existing homes, kitchens, laundries, particle board flooring, fibro board, basements, patios, driveways, pathways, steps, and swimming pool surrounds. They also have a “Stonerock” system which can give concrete and block walls a realistic rock finish. They go that little bit further by taking a “before” photo, where possible, and with your quote you will receive a computer generated “after” photo. To give you an idea of what the finished job will look like.

Janette Ley, Lorraine Archer, Colleen Poulter, Taryn Beattie, Eileen Beattie and Gerald Beattie from Hubbers Flooring Xtra receive their award from Allen Parsons from Cavalier Bremworth.

Local Company wins National Award The team at Hubbers Flooring Xtra have been named Cavalier Bremworth’s number one dealer for provincial cities across New Zealand. This award recognises the outstanding customer service provided to clients from the moment they walk into the showroom, through the whole process from product selection to installation and after sales service. Cavalier Bremworth facilitates the award, but actual results are obtained from customer surveys. “Gerald and his team should be really proud of

this achievement. It proves that their customers appreciate the awesome service they provide. Normally it is a fairly close competition, but this year Hubbers Flooring Xtra was very clearly the winning store,” says Allen Parsons, National Sales Manager for Cavalier Bremworth. Hubbers Sales Manager, Taryn Beattie says “we are absolutely delighted, particularly because this award recognises every single team member and acknowledges the fantastic effort they put into ensuring our customers are happy.”

Each week two photos of the museum’s “glass plate” collection will run in Nelson Weekly and Waimea Weekly with the goal of exposing the photographs to more people in the region in the hope that information from readers will be passed on to the Museum. Right: Unnamed woman and child, Nelson Provincial Museum, Fletcher Collection: 2295. Below: Nelson Port, Nelson Provincial Museum, Sclanders Collection: 9311. Can you tell us more about these photos? Bridget Budget answers your questions Q: I’ve been told I should save a percentage of my income. If this is true, how much should I save? A: Saving money regularly is a good habit to get into, whether you have a goal or not. But before saving consider what debts you have. If you have high interest debts such as credit card, overdraft and loan debt, then pay those debts off first. If you are paying mainly interest every month off these debts, it could be years before they are paid off. Here are some saving tips:  Make a budget of income and outgoings so you know how much extra money you have to pay off debt or save  Pay off high interest debt first by automatic payment  Once this is paid off, keep saving the same amount; you won’t miss it  Put money you save in an account that is hard to access, so you won’t be tempted to use it  Consider joining Kiwisaver How much? Some financial advisors suggest saving 10% of your income. We suggest you make your own decision based on your budget and goals. Remember, $100 per week for 3 years could turn into more than $17,000 because of compound interest. Get organized with your money, become debt free, and save for your goals. If you need help with your finances, come and see us. We are a free, confidential service.

LETTERS

TO THE EDITOR

Nelson council still intends to notify a resource consent in the near future to lift noise levels in parks adjacent to residential areas. This comes in response to complaints that council is not complying with its current consents or district plan (council agenda, April 21). Rather than comply with the law, council intends

to alter the rules. Several times, in writing, council has stated that the public will be able to make submissions about the proposed increase in noise levels. There is no reason to believe there would be compliance with the new consent when council has frequently breached its own noise rules during the last 12 years. The process council is using to make the changes is improper. Yours sincerely, Dan McGuire, Nelson.

Young local boxer takes SI title IN BRIEF fooTbAll: FC Nelson College were handed a 6-0 defeat by Richmond Athletic in the top of the table Nelson Pine Industries division one clash. While still a thrashing, it is the lowest score a team has held Richmond to all year. RUGbY: Press Cup action kicks off this Saturday with Nelson College set to tackle new boys Nayland College at 12noon. Star players Mitchell Drummond, Thor Manawatu and Steven Soper are currently at a New Zealand under-17 training camp in Dunedin but will return for the round one fixture to be played at Nelson College. ATHlETICS: Baylor-bound sprinter Alex Jordan has been selected to represent New Zealand in a 4x100m relay team at the Kawasaki Golden Grand Prix in Japan next month. He will run along side the country’s fastest sprinters David Ambler, Carl Van der Speck and Isaac Tatoa. RUGbY: Wakatu Marist and Galbraith Group Nelson both enjoyed away victories on the weekend. Marist survived a late comeback to beat New World Huia 24-18 in Motueka, while Nelson left it late to beat Stables Waimea Old Boys 22-21. No 8 Jake Cooley scored on the whistle to win the game.

Sean Davies isn’t the tallest athlete in town, but he sure packs a punch. The 13 year-old Nelson College student was recently crowned the light flyweight South Island novice champion in his first official bout. The Fighting Fit Boxing Club member started boxing four years ago but he says it was an on-andoff thing. He started up again just before Christmas and has been going to the Wakatu Estate gym three times a week since. Sean started sparring a couple of months ago and was entered into the novice championships in Christchurch recently where he was up against Christchurch local Connor Roberts, who already had two fights under his belt. “For Sean in a debut that’s a fairly big step up,” says coach Steve Mitchell. Sean is the youngest fighter to be put out by the boxing gym and Steve says the win just made the experience that much sweeter. BOXING YOUNG GUN: Nelson’s Sean Davies won his first ever Sean says going through boxing match in Christchurch recently. Photo: Teresa Hattan. the ropes before his first

fight was the most nerve wracking part. “You actually know you’re doing it then.” Steve says a lot of parents are fearful of boxing as a sport, especially with young lads. But Sean’s mum Judith says boxing has changed her son’s life. “We’re really pleased, it’s made him better at school, it’s made him more organised, and it’s made him proud of himself and given him confidence.” Judith says the gym has provided her son great role models. “He looks up to all the other boys and they have such a good atmosphere here. He comes in to a really good environment and I know they can only inspire him.” Fighting Fit provides young men like Sean a place to control their natural aggression, and Judith says Sean’s five sisters certainly appreciate it too. The Nelson champs are taking place in August and Sean is hoping he will be able to compete and add another title to his collection.

Local pool star wins u19 national title Phillip Rollo Tim Shanaher is Nelson’s latest New Zealand Champion. The 15 year-old claimed top honours at the New Zealand Clubs Under 19 Junior 8-Ball Championship in Palmerston North last week, and took home a giant trophy and $200 prize money. And he did it in convincing fashion too, beating Tokoroa’s Daniel Wilkinson 4-0 in the grand final. “It hasn’t really sunk in yet I was pretty stoked when I got it and I couldn’t stop smiling for the first couple of hours,” Tim says on his victory. Tim was one of ten pool players

representing the Nelson Suburban Club at the tournament, three of which made it through to the semi-finals. Nathan Geddes, 18, and Tim’s older brother, Michael, 17, also made it through to the playoff. Tim was pretty happy to go further than Michael, but they never got to play each other, being on opposite ends of the competition fixtures. “It’s always nice to beat your brother. I try to do better than him every year and I got him this year. “He was still really proud of me and he made it to the semis so he should be proud of himself, and I think he was.” Having two other Nelson team-

mates in the semi finals made the gameplay less nervous for Tim, but he admits he was still “shaking in his boots.” Tim completed two 8-ball rounds at the competition, where he sinks every single ball before the opposition even gets an opportunity to make a shot. Tim will be hoping to be the first person to win the national championship for a second time, at just 15 years-old, he even has the chance to make it a threepeat. Brittany Kidd, 13, received the award for Sportsperson of the Tournament. The 2012 ClubsNZ Junior Nationals will be held at the Nelson Suburban Club.

Keeping in the family Phillip Rollo Nelson Suburbs stalwart Ian Coles only had one eye on his son’s Mainland League football debut on Saturday – the other was on his own game. As Alex Coles kept goals on the number one pitch, Ian was playing at the same time on the next pitch over, for Nelson Suburbs second division team. Alex made two impressive saves late in the game to keep Nelson Suburbs in the lead and hold on to a 4-3 victory over defending champions Woolston Technical. Alex impressed on debut, but the pouring rain and his foul-friendly defenders didn’t help as he conceded two penalties in quick succession midway through the second spell. Ian, on the other hand, helped keep his side’s unbeaten record intact with a 7-1 win. Even though he could not watch the full 90 minutes, Ian managed to see Alex concede all three goals. “I’d just glance over every now and then. It’s hard to watch too much, otherwise I’d be letting in ten goals.” But the Suburbs veteran says it was a proud moment to be playing next to his son, especially in his debut match. “You talk about loyalty, I’ve been at Suburbs for 26 years, so it’s a pretty proud moment when he makes LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON: Goalkeeper Alex Coles made his Mainland League his Mainland debut.” football debut on Saturday while his dad Ian, also a goalkeeper, was playing on the Ian, who is rated very highly by his local counterparts, was a Nelson representative next pitch over. Photo: Phillip Rollo.

from 15 years-old and went on to play for Nelson United in the National League and was a member of the first ever Nelson Suburbs side. When Alex was born his father “secretly” wanted him to follow in his footsteps and become a goalkeeper, “much to his mother’s disgust.” Alex rose to prominence in goal for Nayland College at the National Secondary School Football Championships, where he wore the number one jersey in a third place finish. He then went on to be selected for the New Zealand Secondary School team for its home series against Australia and a tour of Canada one year later. A shift to Dunedin for varsity nearly ended his career when he broke his leg training for his Southern Premier League side, Mosgiel. He only played ten matches in an injury plagued next three years. But he’s back in Nelson now, injury free, and wanted to get back in to football. A kick around with his mates brought back the burning desire to make it at the top level locally, and Coey Turipa’s departure left a gapping whole in the goalkeeping box at Nelson Suburbs. Alex described the conditions as a “goalkeeper’s nightmare” on the weekend, but some key saves late on suggest we will be seeing more of Alex throughout the season for Suburbs top side.

Stoke back to winning ways

Two of the squad’s youngest members delivered Easter treats as Accesman Stoke took all points against ENZA Riwaka on Good Friday. Impressive winger Brett Ferguson and hooker Nick Max, both in their first year of senior rugby, crossed over for tries as Stoke hung on for a 37-28 win, thanks to some stellar goalkicking from halfback Shaun Begg. Tasman Makos centers Sione Holani, who was returning from injury, and Jack Umaga tore through the Riwaka backline early on. The game looked destined for a win as Stoke led 27-7 at halftime but a patchy second spell would have had home fans chewing their fingernails as Riwaka tried to force a comeback. With a 20 point buffer Sione and Jack were taken off and “things just didn’t quite gel af-

ter that” says manager Brian Hutchison. Loose forwards John Duff and Jared Aberhart had another solid display and warmed to the challenge of Riwaka’s barnstorming No 8 Lucuster Mati. But Stoke hung on for victory in the first of the round two fixtures. Stoke’s depth will be tested over the next few weeks with 12 injuries to the current squad, the worst of them being first five-eighth Cody Christensen who looks set to miss another five weeks with a shoulder injury. Stoke take on Stables Waimea Old Boys at Greenmeadows this Saturday. Stoke’s 34 points came courtesy of tries from Siaki Peti, Nick Max, Jack Umaga and Brett Ferguson. Halfback Shaun Begg contributed four conversions and three penalties to cement the victory. Stoke midfielder Sione Holani takes on the Riwaka defence at Greenmedows last Halftime score was 27-7.
