New sights, sounds and smells for students Simon Bloomberg
Maitai School students will benefit from an innovative new classroom designed to help them control their sensory environment to create a better space for learning. After four years of planning and development, the Nelson special needs school opened its new Wahi Tairongo, or sensory room, on Tuesday. The hi-
tech room allows students to control the sounds, sights and smells they experience, which principal Jane Wills says has a big impact on their ability to learn. “Many of our students have difficulty making sense of the things they are experiencing and that can be overwhelming,” Jane says. “Being able to control what they hear, see and feel can help them
calm down so they can benefit from more effective classroom learning.” Jane says the sensory room will also be able to help stimulate those students who have difficulty recognising senses. “They might play upbeat music or watch a colourful visual experience and that can help them learn.” The school’s occupational therapist Emily Smith will be showing staff how to
use the room which includes a massage chair, colourful bubble tube, audio-visual equipment and ultra-violet light dark-room. All the equipment can be controlled by the students using simple, colour-coded remote controls. Emily visited schools that are already using sensory rooms to get some ideas for Maitai School’s new classroom and says the
technology is highly successful. “It can be calming or alerting, depending on the specific needs of the students, and it’s a really good learning space,” Emily says. “We want our students to be excellent and this will help them achieve that goal.” Jane says the new classroom was funded by the board of trustees’ reserve funds.
New faces around the Nelson City Council table this year are guaranteed, with two councillors confirming they will be standing down from their seats ahead of October’s local body elections. Six term councillor Mike Ward won’t be seeking re-election, stating he has “never done any more than two terms on the trot”, and Pete Rainey has also confirmed that it’s the mayor’s seat or bust for him. Rainey says that after three terms as a councillor, he is now serious about standing for the role of mayor and doesn’t want to continue as a councillor under the same regime. “I certainly wanting to step up to the next level and I want to give a clear indication to the voters that I’m serious about it,” he says. The remaining 10 councillors have confirmed to Nelson Weekly that they will be seeking re-election, and will join a

Helicopter’s leading lady recognised Simon Bloomberg Eighty-eight Valley’s Robyn Reid will be the latest person inducted into Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame, recognising achievements in a wide range of business sectors including over 30 years in the aviation industry. Robyn has been in the headlines in the last few years after she and her husband Bill completed a 10-year-long restoration of a classic 1936 Avro Anson Mk1 warplane in Nelson. But Robyn’s career in aviation started long before that and ultimately led to key roles in a wide range of business and community groups. Robyn started her involvement in aviation after meeting a young helicopter pilot named Bill Reid in Nelson in 1979. The couple married after a “whirlwind romance” and started Nelson Helicopters which led to Robyn playing a part in developing safety regulations for the industry. “Bill had been flying for his father’s company prior to us starting our own business and he always had a really good approach to safety. I think that helped us implement good safety procedures for our business too and that led to my involvement with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Aviation Industry Association,

Former props ready for big push to Fight 4 Victory Andrew Board
When two former Nelson Bays rugby props face-off at Fight 4 Victory this November it is highly likely that both will finish the fight as winners. Pouesi Fitisemanu and Joni Nacagilevu both made their sporting careers on being big men. Both played in the front row for Nelson Bays but both say they are now too big and need to lose some weight. They are hoping that training for the charity boxing event on November 5 will motivate them to lose that extra weight and make them healthier. In fact, not only are their goals from the fight similar, so too are their journeys to it. Pouesi moved to Nelson in the early 90s after a mate in Auckland announced he was heading to play rugby in the Top of the South. Pouesi asked if the club, which turned out to be Riwaka, needed a prop. They did, so Pouesi packed up the HQ Holden, drove south and began playing his rugby for Riwaka. Not long after he met the publi-
can’s daughter and found himself quite happy to stay put. “It was perfect, bach, a boat and a good woman,” he laughs. He went on to play for Nelson Bays from 1992 to 1996, before playing in Australia and then for Auckland in the NPC in the late 90s. A major knee injury ended his playing days, leaving the big prop “frustrated and angry with sport”. “It took about two years of actually hating sport. My whole life revolved around rugby, I lived it and breathed it. To have that taken away was frustrating and I probably had a little bit of anger there. Back then, rugby for me was like a release valve too. I suppose, a young islander, you get to the weekend and blow it all out and you start each week fresh.” Without rugby, Pouesi focused on family and raising his two daughters, but as the exercise stopped the weight piled on. “When you have a good wife who cooks well and I suppose it’s in our makeup, food is comforting. When I was stressed it was easy to turn to a pie or a sausage roll. Fight 4 Victory is a chance to change that.”

Former Nelson Bays rugby props Joni Nacagilevu, left, and Pouesi Fitisemanu will face-off at Fight 4 Victory 3. Photo: Andrew Board. “I was at the last Fight 4 Victory and I was sitting with my wife and said ‘that’s me’. I think it was the next day that I texted Paul [Hampton] and said I was keen. My daughters never saw me play rugby and there was no social media like today, so there aren’t many photos or film. This is a chance to show them that dad isn’t just a couch potato.” For Joni, the motivations to take part, and the route to Fight 4 Victory, are almost identical. Joni played 1st XV rugby for Nelson College, played senior rugby in Christchurch before coming home and lacing up for Marist. In 2000, his club form led to selection for Nelson Bays and Joni
played four seasons for the Griffins before hanging up his boots for eight years. “When my girls were born I just stopped playing, keeping an eye on the family and that. After a few years of not playing I just slowly started piling on the weight. From being really involved with rugby to nothing, it got to the point where I could feel my knees wanting to pop from the weight. Doing up shoe laces was also hard.” Like Pouesi, his kids hadn’t seen dad play rugby until this year when he was asked by his old club to come and play Bs. “I turn up, play a solid 20 minutes and that’s me,” he jokes. “It has been good to be back out there, but hard.”
Joni’s mother recently passed away and he says that, and his growing waistline, convinced him to take up the Fight 4 Victory challenge. “I’m probably carrying an extra 40-50 kilos. That’s why I’m keen to give it a go.” Both men said they weren’t nervous about competing in front of a big crowd. “It’s more the rules,” says Pouesi. “Like, can I put my tongue in his ear? Us front rowers have got a few tricks up our sleeves,” he jokes. Joni says, while they’ll both be doing everything they can to win, ultimately they’ll be helping each other. “It’s a life-changing event really, either keep on going, same old thing or do something different. Doing this, we’ll be helping each other. “This is our first step for the rest of our health journey and for me that’s the biggest prize.” Victory Boxing programme coordinator Paul Hampton says there could still be another fight or two added to the November 5 card, which raises money for the Victory Boxing Charitable Trust. General admission tickets for Fight 4 Victory 3 are now for sale from ticketdirect.co.nz or the Theatre Royal.

TAB scrapped for business premises
Mel’s View
Kate Russell Plans for a new TAB on Vanguard St have been scrapped, and the site is now set to open as a high-profile business site by the end of the year. The former United Video site, located on the corner of Vanguard St and Gloucester St, was set to house nine pokie machines after the Nelson City Council gave consent earlier this year for the old building to be demolished and replaced with a TAB. But the NZ Racing Board pulled the plug on the site last month, with a spokesperson telling the Nelson Weekly that after reviewing the site they made a business decision “not to proceed at this time.” The decision has delighted community groups, who were worried about the impact the TAB would have on nearby Victory and Washington Valley neighbourhoods, as it would have brought the number of pokie machines at the Gloucester/Vanguard intersection to 27. Spooners Tunnel closed: Just three months after its opening, the Spooners Tunnel has been closed to the public. The Spooners Tunnel is temporarily closed to the public to allow structural improvements to be carried out at the northern tunnel entrance. Council Engineering Services manager Peter Thomson says the tunnel was closed to the public last Wednesday after a routine inspection. “Unfortunately, with a tunnel that is 125 years old, some maintenance issues are to be expected,” says Peter. “Spooners Tunnel has experienced a significant change in use since it was opened to cyclists and walkers as part of Tasman’s Great Taste Trail and that, combined with heavy rain over the past few weeks, may have had an effect as well.” The tunnel will be closed for two weeks.

Brook Sanctuary delays bait drop Kate Russell The Brook Waimarama Sanctuary Trust’s controversial pest removal programme has been deferred until next winter, due to wet weather delaying the completion of the pest-proof fence. In May, the trust received resource consent to conduct aerial drops of brodifacoum, a toxin manufactured for eradicating mammalian pests, as part of its long-term plan to create a pest-free habitat in Nelson. The sanctuary initially planned the operation to take place between July and October this year, but trust general manager Hudson Dodd says a wet winter has put work behind schedule. They have until Septem-
ber 30 next year to complete the operation under the current consent. “We knew we were looking at a tight time frame for this year,” says Hudson. Our latest forecasts indicate the pest-proof fence is not going to be completed before the recommended deadline for the highest chance of a successful operation, which is October 31.” Best practice states that aerial brodifacoum operations should be conducted between May and October, and Hudson says contractors and volunteer teams have been working as hard as possible to complete the fence. “The unfortunate fact is that, because of this abnormally wet winter, we’re behind schedule,” he says.

Harris Builders nail top awards
The Nelson Marlborough West Coast Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards were tinged with sadness after Harris Builders stole the show, winning five awards including the Supreme House of the Year. One of Nelson’s most respected and award-winning builders, John Harris died suddenly in May this year, aged 53. John’s wife Jo accepted the award on behalf of her late husband, adding a sombre note to Saturdays gala dinner at the Rutherford Hotel. “He was an amazing builder who was known for his quality workmanship, so this year’s awards were very emotional,” Nelson Registered Master Builders president Paul Brockie says. “But we were all glad Jo could come along – John would have been very proud of her for getting up there and accepting the award.”

Life Education founder steps down Andrew Board
Since it was established 14 years ago, Nelson’s Life Education Trust and its memorable mascot Harold the Giraffe, has passed its message of health and respect to thousands of Nelson and Tasman children. And the man who started it all is now calling time on his stint with the trust. In 2002, bank manager Chris Buckley was working at Westpac in Nelson. The bank was a national sponsor of Life Education Trust, but the trust wasn’t set up in the top of the south. It was then that Chris’s boss at the time tapped him on the shoulder and asked if he wanted to get it off the
ground. “I thought ‘cheers for that, not that I have enough to do’. But when you understand what it’s all about and the success that it’s actually had - it teaches kids that we’re all special - I was happy to be involved.” The initial tasks included raising the profile, setting up the trust, raising money, finding suitable trustees and employing an educator. The trust hosted golf tournaments, cooked barbecues and knocked on doors for sponsorship, but Chris says the support of a business couple set the trust on the path to success. “We were very fortunate that we had a benefactor

early on, Roy and Renate Savage. Both were from Nelson and went on to have very successful business careers in New Zealand and Australia. They had a synergy with Nelson and it was a concept close to them. They were very, very good to us and effectively helped us get the mobile classroom.” Another key to the trust’s success was the quality of their educators, says Chris. “We’ve been blessed with the calibre of educators that we’ve had. Michelle Andrews was the first one and she was brilliant, absolutely brilliant, and really helped us make a success of it, but all of the educators since have been

They are special people.” Chris’s involvement hasn’t just been as the chair or trustee, he also took the opportunity to wear the Harold suit and was able to see up-close the impact that the trust was having on local kids. “When you see the mobile classroom full of kids, there is an excitement there. They listen and they all want to
ask questions. You see the excitement and the pleasure that they get out of it.” But after 14 years Chris says it’s time for him to step off the board and let the “younger generation” take it forward. Current chair of the trust, Michelle Fitzgerald, says Chris has left a huge mark. “He’s made such a massive contribution. He’s just been fantastic. He’s been a great
representative and we’re sad that he’s leaving, but we also know that he’ll be there to help us out if we need him.” In summing up his time with the trust, Chris says he was “stoked and proud” to leave the trust on a high and will always take an interest in the trust’s work. “Once you’ve been in the system you can’t kick it out.”

Pole artists compete for Miss Pole Queen crown Jessie Johnston Things got pretty steamy at the The Playhouse on Saturday night during Miss Pole Queen New Zealand 2016. The competition was created by Trina Duffield, owner of Dynamite Pole Studio in Nelson, and Saturday night was the very first edition. “There’s a lot of people in New Zealand who do different styles of pole, [many focusing on] the fitness element, we incorporate it in all pole that we do anyway, but a lot of people like the theatrical, glamour side of pole, where you can dress up a bit more and really perform,” says Trina. “I wanted to make something that was a bit more empowering for women and could just showcase the performance, theatrical, glamorous side of pole.” Due to an unfortunate flight cancellation on the day, the tenth competitor was unable to make the event, leaving nine, including two locals, to battle it out for the title of Miss Pole Queen New Zealand 2016. The winner was decided by a judging panel of three pole experts comprising Douglas Seivers Jarrett, Erin Polaschek and Fontaine Bradbury, who made the trip from Australia. “We had girls who had been pole dancing for 2 years, right up to 10 years,” says Trina. “It was definitely good to see girls coming up on stage, especially those who have only been doing it for 2 years, and giving it a go, experiencing being in a competition and putting a routine together. I definitely think it was a really good standard and next year people are going to come back and be even better.” In the end it was Auckland pole artist Eriko who
took out the top spot, winning the crown, sash and trophy, a $150 pair of heels from Kandy Bling, her very own pole from event sponsor X-Pole, a $150 custom-made costume, a free photoshoot, plus, a goodybag full of vouchers and clothing. If people missed out on watching Miss Pole Queen New Zealand, they can keep an eye out for it next year as it will be held in Nelson once again, or head along to Trina’s other pole competition, Pole Stars, which will be coming up on October 8 this year.

Soldiers plan reunion The funds left in a mysterious bank account will be put to their intended use later this year when a group of retired soldiers from the Nelson Marlborough West Coast Regiment have a reunion. We are all well into our seventies so it will be a bunch of old fellas getting together and telling lies.” Pete says they expect around 50 people to attend the reunion. Ford owners celebrate founder’s birthday Jessie Johnston

They come in all shapes and sizes and this Sunday, Nelson Classic Ford Club vehicles and owners will hold their annual cruise out to Rabbit Island to celebrate Henry Ford’s birthday. Born on July 30, 1863, Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company, a name that has become synonymous with reliability. Whether it’s a Model T or a brand new Ford with the latest vehicle technology, everyone is welcome to attend the birthday celebrations that generally attract around 100 cars. Ann Holmes recently joined the club after purchasing a 1964 Ford Falcon, prior to that, she and her husband Dave had been members of the Model A club. In fact, with their new addition, Ann says they have a Ford car from just about every decade except the 1950s. “We’ve got lots of Ford’s, it’s just easy to get parts and repair them and, with the Ford Falcon in particular, it’s a car I remember from my childhood,

noreen and Selwyn Hannah with their 1965 mark 3 Zephyr 6 that they will be taking along to the nelson Ford Classic Car Club's celebration on Sunday. Photo: Jessie Johnston. that’s the attraction I think.” Selwyn and Noreen Hannah will also be there on the day with their 1965 Mark 3 Zephyr 6. Selwyn’s first Zephyr is still on the property, it sits by the side of the house but is in no fit state to drive after it was wiped out by a truck in central Auckland, a particularly devastating accident for Selwyn who had put a lot of money into achieving its mint condition. Selwyn and Noreen originally started owning Ford’s as they made great family cars, always capa-
ble of towing the caravan on family holidays. Having owned over 50 cars since 1968, Selwyn has had experience with a number of different vehicles, including a dabble in Holden, but has always returned to the tried and trusted Ford. Sunday’s event will be a great opportunity to view some of best Fords in the Nelson region. There will also be a sausage sizzle and, of course, a birthday cake. Once the cars are set up, the public will be able to view them from about 11am.

Woodburner Plan Change decision notified
Pre-election report The 2016 Pre-Election Report provides information to promote public discussion about the issues facing Nelson City Council in advance of the upcoming elections. This report will be available from Council’s website, libraries and Customer Service Centre from 29 July.
YOUTH COUNCIL UPDATE We have recently heard the outcome of our submission on the Annual Plan and are pleased to say it was positive.

Applications are open until 5 August 2016 for a Remission of Rates for Heritage Maintenance. Rates remission is provided to assist with the preservation of Nelson’s heritage by encouraging maintenance of heritage buildings. Ratepayers who have Group A or B listed buildings that meet certain criteria, including a commitment to maintain their buildings, may apply. Information has now been sent out to eligible property owners. For further information or assistance please contact Richard Frizzell, Environmental Programmes Adviser on 546 0423.

In our submission, we expressed our appreciation of Council’s desire to actively engage with youth, as they are a valuable part of society. We are happy to know that Council wishes to work with us to help identify the key needs for youth in the region. We spoke in support of Council’s proposal to make a pedestrian only area at the top of Trafalgar Street, between the intersections of Selwyn Place and Hardy Street. It is our belief that this would create a more positive atmosphere in the inner city. Our survey results show that the majority of Nelson youth also supported this. Council is now investigating the summer closure of this area. We said we would be interested in contributing ideas into any engagement process that may be undertaken by Council regarding the development of Rutherford Park. We feel the developments will be of benefit to the wider community. Council has welcomed the potential for our input.
Remission of Rates for Heritage Maintenance 2016 – 2018
Council has notified the Commissioners' Decision on the Woodburner Plan Change (PCA3). The Plan Change proposed to allow ultra-low emission burners (ULEBs) in airsheds B2 (Stoke) and C (Brook/ Atawhai) immediately, and made future provision for ULEBs in airsheds A (Washington Valley/Hospital) and B1 (Tahunanui), subject to air quality improvements. It also made provision in the future for people to make a non-complying resource consent application to install a ULEB as a result of air quality improvements. The decision accepts this proposal and supports ULEBs in airsheds B2 and C. However, it removes the future provision for ULEBs in airsheds A and B1. The Commissioners' decision is that: • In Airshed B2 an additional 1000 ULEBs would be permitted in new homes, homes without burners, or where replacing an authorised burner. • In Airshed C an additional 600 ULEBs would be permitted in new homes, homes without burners, or where replacing and authorised burner. • In Airshed A, no ULEBs will be permitted unless replacing an existing authorised woodburner.
• In Airshed B1, no ULEBs will be permitted unless replacing an existing authorised woodburner. • Council is required to keep a register of ULEBs and interested parties. • Council will display a list of authorised ULEBs on its website. The decision is subject to a 30 working day appeal period which closes on 26 August. Council recommends that people wait until after this date before making an application for a building consent to install a ULEB.
Viewing the decisions on submissions The full report “Decisions of the Hearing Committee on Submissions” is available for viewing at: • Nelson City Council Customer Service Centre, Ground Floor, Civic House, 110 Trafalgar Street, Nelson • Elma Turner Library, Halifax Street, Nelson • Nightingale Library Memorial, Tahunanui • Stoke Library, Putaitai Street, Stoke • Online at nelson.govt.nz/ woodburner-plan-change To register an interest please contact Planning Adviser Chantel de Ru, Chantel.deRu@ncc.govt.nz, phone 03 265 6930.

Maitai Water pipeline duplication – Brook Valley
MEETINGS
The next stage of the long-term project to duplicate the Maitai Water Pipeline is now underway in the Brook Valley. Fulton Hogan, Council’s delivery contractor has established a site office and storage area for the project at Andrews Farm (pictured). All pipe materials are now in Nelson and site preparations are complete. The initial construction phase from the Dun Mountain Trail towards the Water Treatment Plant is in progress.
Track detours Part of the new water pipeline transitions along the Codgers Trail (from Blick Terrace) for approximately 330m. Access to the Codgers Trail and Tantragee Saddle is now detoured via the Tantragee Road. Please be aware you will be sharing the area with construction traffic so please take extra care. This detour is expected to be in place until mid-August but other track detours will be needed later in the project.
All physical work is scheduled to be completed by late February 2017 followed by a two to three month commissioning period.
Background A safe and reliable water supply is essential to the well-being and sustainability of our community. A long-term project to improve water pipeline security from the dam to the city is being undertaken over many
years, the most recent stage being the duplication of the section of pipeline from the dam to the treatment plant, completed in 2014, which now provides a more secure supply line to the treatment plant. This current stage, from the treatment plant to Brook Street, was originally programmed for 2020/21 but was brought forward following the Christchurch earthquakes.

• Spark • ASB
The accessible car parks have been installed to better serve older or less physically able residents who struggle to walk any distance. A mobility parking permit must be displayed when using these parks. The permit also allows holders to stay for longer – two hours instead of the standard one hour limit on the rest of Trafalgar Street. Mobility parking permits are issued by CCS Disability Action, refer to nelson.govt.nz for more information.

Clayton and Josh rule on home motocross track Jacob Page Sports Editor

Clayton Roeske and Josh Coppins were the best of the Nelson riders at the Nelson Motocross Championships at 88 Valley over the weekend. While Saturday’s weather held, the overnight downpour made for tricky racing conditions on Sunday, which meant the competition was cut a race short. Clayton, from Nelson, finished second in the junior feature Dash for Cash to Dunedin’s Grayson Veitch in what was a gripping two-rider shootout. The lead changed three times in one lap before Grayson won. The experience of Josh saw him win the senior Dash for Cash as well as win every senior MX I
event. Clayton dominated the 125cc 15 and 16-year-old class while Marshall Phillips from Christchurch won the 12 to 14-year-old 125cc class. Nelson’s Madi Berry was on the podium for the women’s racing for the weekend, while Nelson’s Luke Heaphy won the mini races. Race organiser Bryan Heaphy says all the riders did a fantas-

selves. Bryan says more than 140 riders competed in 13 race categories, including several current and former national champions keen to test themselves on the redesigned track. The next major event will be the Top of the South Secondary Schools Motocross Championships at the same venue on August 21.

Guildford in doubt for Makos squad Jacob Page Former All Black winger Zac Guildford’s time as a Mako may be over before it’s begun. The Nelson Weekly understands the 27-year-old, who signed a Tasman contract in April, may be a glaring omission from the Makos’ Mitre 10 Cup squad which will be announced on August 6. The union’s chief executive Tony Lewis admitted to nelsonlive.co.nz he was unsure
if the player would be included in the squad. Guildford’s career has been plagued with off-field issues and the most recent setback forced him to leave the New South Wales Waratahs last month during the Super Rugby campaign “for well-being reasons”. When asked if Guildford would play for the Makos this year, Tony Lewis said “I don’t know”. “We are in communication with Zac and it’s fair to say that
he is evaluating everything in his life at this point,” he said. Guildford quit French club Clemont Auvergne last year, halfway through a two year contract. He was considered an important signing with Tasman’s wing stocks under injury clouds. Both Viliami Lolohea and James Lowe have battled injuries during the Super Rugby campaign. The Makos will face Waikato in Blenheim on August 21.

Federal upset Aotea Kiwi to make hockey final Jacob Page
Fourth-placed Federal timed it right to topple top qualifier Aotea Kiwi to reach the Top of the South men’s hockey final this weekend against Tasman. Federal won the semi-final in Blenheim 3-1 to earn their spot in the decider and record their first win against Aotea Kiwi this season. Their reward is a showdown with Tasman who proved too strong for a faltering Stoke side 6-1 in Nelson. Federal have also not beaten Tasman this season. Tasman coach Tim Kerr was delighted with the effort of his team to bounce back after a heavy 5-2 loss to Federal Titans the previous week, “The guys all went away and worked on their individual skills and it showed. “We got a couple of goals and the confidence grew through the team and we made the most of our chances.”

Drew dots down twice as Wanderers reign supreme Jacob Page Wanderers prop Drew Petelo watched last year's Nelson Bays division one rugby final with a dislocated shoulder - this year he scored two tries to help his team repeat history. Wanderers beat Marist 19-17 in a tense final at Trafalgar Park on Saturday. The top qualifiers overcame an early 10-0 deficit thanks to their loose head prop who scored the team's first and last tries of the game. "I feel like if you paid to see that final, you got your money's worth," Drew says.
"I don't have anything left in the tank - I'm out on my feet, but it feels so good." Drew says sitting on the sidelines for almost all of last season thanks to a shoulder injury made the win sweet. "To be on the sidelines last year wasn't a great feeling but this group of men worked hard and we deserved it." The forwards had to go with seven men for 10 minutes before halftime. Their goal line was under constant threat, but they held firm. "We just said to each other that everyone has to dig deep and

that's what happened. It's nothing new to us." Captain Jesse Pitman described the game as entertaining. "We never felt like we were on the back-foot, we believed we always had enough points in us," Jesse says. "It's much more satisfying to win it this year. Last year it felt like a relief to finally win it after being
in two finals with Waimea and coming up short. It feels like we proved a point." He said he was delighted for Drew to have a performance like he produced. "Drew is the kind of team mate you want. "You turn up for training and he's out there doing his broncos, he puts in the work and thor-
oughly deserves it. "I hope he gets picked up for (Tasman) Griffins - I'm sure he will, he's a top bloke.” In other finals, Marist scored a late try to beat Motueka High School 27-25 in the women's final while top division two team all season, Collingwood, confirmed their dominance with a 15-8 win over Riwaka.
