NEMO Equipment, Inc. was founded in 2002 with a commitment to designing and manufacturing the highest quality and most innovative products for outdoor recreation, rescue and survival. In 2006, NEMO began adapting its shelter technology for elite U.S. Special Operations Forces and launched its Shield™ product line. In the years since, many elite Warfighters have depended on NEMO tents, shelters, sleeping gear, weapons bags, and other products to take full advantage of what limited comfort and protection can be found on the battlefield. For much of the last decade, NEMO Shield™ has been engaged in research and development with the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center and the U.S. Special Operations community. The focus has been on creating the next generation of cutting edge 1-2 person combat tents, specialized shelters for the arctic, and shelters for medical applications. 1 Person Combat Tent Using a recently unveiled, jointly developed, and totally unique fabric from W.L. Gore & Associates, NEMO has designed a Berry Compliant, lightweight, linkable, four-season, free-standing, individual shelter system that is waterproof/breathable and flame retardant. Coupled with outstanding signature protection, ALCS™ 1P SE (Advanced Linking Combat Shelter™) gives the Warfighter state of the art performance, technology, and protection from the elements.

The single wall lightweight design allows for significant weight reduction and the innovative linking capability provides a “buddy-team” benefit while still allowing for self-sufficiency in combat environments. NEMO AirSupported Technology® was developed by NEMO's founder after his work on spacesuits and inflatable architecture for NASA. NEMO AST® is a system of lowpressure inflatable tubes (called “airbeams”) and lightweight pumps that provide a high performance alternative to traditional tent poles. Airbeams are made of two layers, like a bicycle tire. The outer layer provides the shape, strength, and puncture resistance while the thin inner polyurethane bladder does the job of holding air.

Every NEMO AST® tent comes with either the lightweight 3.6 oz foam-filled, welded fabric Nemoid™ Foot Pump or the compact 2.3 oz Integrated Pump. The Integrated Pump is a clever little device we call a “lung amplifier.” Basically, you blow into a small welded fabric pouch and squeeze, repeating this action for about 10 to 15 seconds until the airbeam is fully inflated. The squeezing action increases the air pressure to the 5 to 7 psi needed to make the airbeam very sturdy.

Airbeams have remarkable properties that can save time, fight high winds, and lighten the load on your back. They are faster and easier to set up, and much easier to repair, than traditional poles. They pack smaller and will fit in odd-shaped spaces. They are also shockingly strong. In our Morpho™ SE tents, the airbeams are more than twice as stiff as traditional aluminum poles. The Helio™ Pressure Shower SE provides an innovative way to employ pressurized water in a free-standing, rugged, portable package for the many needs of the Warfighter. With Helio™ SE, daily showers, gear cleanup, and basic field sanitation is simple and quick. • The Helio™ SE comes in a small, neatly nested kit, weighs less than a liter of water, and provides 5 to 7 minutes of steady and satisfying water pressure. • Unlike conventional gravity-fed, hanging shower systems, the Helio™ SE system uses an 11 liter welded fabric water tank pressurized by a foot pump. • To use the system, you simply fill up the water tank, let it warm in the sun, set the tank on the ground, then step on the foot pump a few times. About Outland Equipment: Outland Equipment was founded by Christopher Aiston to provide people with the tools they need to survive and save lives in hostile environments. For the past ten years, Chris has been a design consultant to companies that manufacture firearms and accessories. He built relationships in the law enforcement and fire fighting communities and discovered that firefighters are typically heavily burdened by carrying around single-purpose tools. It was clear that firefighters needed a streamlined, lightweight, multi-purpose tool that could be carried at all times. This new solution would need to withstand the harsh environments firefighters work in, and prove to be useful every day on the job, across a wide range of applications. Once development began on the tools, it quickly became apparent that these new tools could also benefit law enforcement and armed forces. After two years of intense development and testing, Outland unveiled its first multi-purpose tools: the Point Man Axe, the FireFighter Axe and the Multi-Mission Axe. The PMA is a specialized combat instrument for LE and Special Operations Forces, built to hold an edge and withstand the rigors of battle. The FFA and MMA are forcible entry tools, with optimized materials and features for cutting and prying through just about anything in your path. The FFA and MMA have unique engineering that allows for interchangeability in the axe head. A range of different components are being developed now that will be able to mount on the back side of the axe head.
