who come to enjoy it year after year. The goal of this magazine is

precisely that: to help share and give a fuller picture of the culture, landscape, gastronomy and traditions of this Mediterranean treasare convinced that the Costa Brava is a unique, magic and incomparable place, and we want to treat it as such.

As you might have noticed, the logo we have chosen for this new

publication is a sea urchin. This animal is typical and characteristic of the Costa Brava and perfectly represents the scenery: its

de vue de l’ « Excellence ». Nous sommes convaincus que la Costa Brava est un endroit unique, magique et incomparable, et nous voulons le traiter en tant que tel.

Comme vous aurez pu l’apprécier, le logo que nous avons choisi typique et caractéristique de la Costa Brava, qui en représente pleinement la scène. D’aspect sauvage, brut et indompté, impassi-

Это животное, всем известное и широко распространенное на Коста-Браве, полностью отражает суть этого региона. На вид дикий, резкий и суровый, неподдающийся изменениям вокруг, со вкусом и ароматом моря. Le nord de la Costa Brava La partie Nord de la Costa Brava, celle qui fait frontière avec la France, est celle la plus rocheuse de toutes et avec le plus d’espaces vierges et sauvages. Cette zone est fortement marquée par le Cap de Creus qui dépasse de façon majestueuse du littoral de Gérone. Au nord du Cap de Creus, nous trouvons les villes de Portbou, Colera et Llançà. La première est limitrophe avec la France.

The northern Costa Brava The northern part of the Costa Brava, on the border with France, is the rockiest of all and has wildest, most pristine land. This area is strongly marked by Cap de Creus, which stands out majestically over the Girona coastline. At the north of Cap de Creus, we find the villages of Portbou, Colera and Llançà. Portbou is on the border with France. For many decades, it was the gateway to Spain and all the trains used to make a long stop there to change gauge and complete the border controls. This is why its station is so astonishingly big and beautiful. Colera, by contrast, is a much smaller seafarers’ village sandwiched between the enormous rocks and steep cliffs. Llançà is bigger, but still a peaceful village with local

Все просто, на самом деле. Вы уже бывали в Жироне или на Коста-Браве до того, как переехали сюда? В это трудно поверить, но нет. Я много времени проводил в Испании по работе (тренировки, гонки), но почему-то ни разу не был в Каталонии. The tipping point was reached about four years ago, now pro cyclists come here simply because it’s where pro cyclists come, the origins are somewhat lost.

Which is the best comment you remember about the festival? One comment made me feel especially proud, when an artist told me after performing that after a career of 40 years the Cap Roig Festival was one of the best places he had ever performed at. Also, to see Ben Harper playing for more than three and a half hours at the 2012 festival, and then read him say later in an American magazine that the most spectacular location he had ever performed at was a small town in Girona, are things that definitely touch your heart. For those readers who might never have been to the festival, what reasons would you give to recommend that they come? Going to Cap Roig, enjoying the amazing setting of the Botanical Gardens and having some of the leading artists of the day just 15 metres away is a unique experience.
