Telling our stories through colour and curation

I MPROVED

One of the greatest joys of interior decorating is that no two homes are ever the same. Our individual approaches to colours and patterns and the stories we tell through our homes mean that the opportunity for creativity is never ending.

In particular, how we use colour will express our histories without even the need for words. The fresh greys and whites of a kitchen, the soothing sage greens of a bedroom or the lively ochres of a dining room or snug. A room’s décor articulates the environment we want to create and live in.

And for those still discovering their language, our new Colour Consultancy offers a professional helping hand to unlock the colour potential of a home. Using the enveloping richness of shades like Constable Green, the pale refinement of Salt or the uplifting joy of our new shade Rhubarb, colour is the bedrock from which we weave our stories.

And layered upon this tonal base is how we edit our spaces to evolve the storytelling. How we curate our homes - taking time to select, organise and care for the pieces we live with. For our surroundings benefit from our editing endeavours. A curated home feels both intriguing and restful. A place of tantalising personal history, and at the same time, an ordered space with a considered palette, where favourite pieces have room to breathe, and our colour choices speak volumes.

Our seasonal paint colour, Rhubarb, sets a joyful tone for this season. It reflects a collection that’s rooted in tradition yet embraces contemporary living. Each piece, from the timeless Portobello cabinet to new adjustable task lighting, meets the need for versatility in our ever-evolving lives.

Rhubarb

Seasonal Paint SS23

Introducing Rhubarb; a spirited coral that evolves to a deeper shade of warm rose as daylight ebbs. Classically English, it’s inspired by vivid rhubarb stalks as well as the earthier hue of their weathered terracotta forcers. Rhubarb brings an element of surprise to interiors – much like when you lift a forcer and discover jewel-like stalks.

Behind

I Rhubarb is available in eggshell and emulsion and contains a high level of pigment to ensure even and consistent coverage.

I The colour feels lighter and brighter in eggshell, while in emulsion it has a deeper, matt appearance.

I This is an eco-friendly, water-based paint containing only 2g of VOCs. This falls into the lowest VOC category outlined by coating suppliers.

I Responsibly made in the UK.

I Rhubarb’s vivid warmth offers welcome contrast to neutral shades like Driftwood and Lily.

I It also pairs beautifully with blues and greens like Alpine, Cactus and Olive for a nature-inspired palette.

I Rhubarb has a fast touch-dry time of between one and two hours.

I If you’re painting a space where the humidity and temperatures fluctuate, such as a bathroom, drying times may be longer.

I Because the paint is water-based, you can simply clean brushes with warm water and soap.

I We advise purchasing as much paint as you need in one go to ensure it’s from the same batch.

I Metal tin and its handle can be recycled separately.

I Eggshell has a 17-22% sheen level. Its high resin content gives it this slight sheen and makes it highly durable.

I Paints will cover between 12-16 square metres per litre.

I For best results, we recommend using the paint with our waterbased primer underneath and making sure that the surface is properly prepared.

I Suitability for eggshell: wooden doors, furniture, trim, skirting and cornicing. Also works on previously painted walls.

I Suitability for emulsion: previously painted walls, wallpapered walls, lining paper ceilings and newly plastered walls.

Cabinetry Paint

We now provide customers with a complimentary 1-litre tin of cabinetry paint when they purchase a kitchen. This is for the purpose of touch-ups and will be batch-matched to the original paint used. Customers can choose to purchase extra tins if they wish, but only at the same time as buying their kitchen to ensure they are all from the same batch.

Paint Booklets

We have renamed our two paint booklets from Core and Seasonal to Signature and Seasonal. The cards in both booklets are now painted in the UK, using a specially developed paint that mirrors our own matt emulsion. As a key tool in our Home Design and Colour Consultancy Services, these improvements ensure the paint cards reflect our collection as accurately as possible.

Neptune Colour Consultancy

We are very excited to introduce our new Colour Consultancy Service.

Where Home Design is a comprehensive service, the Colour Consultancy focuses purely on paint. It helps our customers to establish a cohesive palette for their home, making interior decorating a little less overwhelming.

Our expert consultants will visit the property and consider factors like architecture, lighting and furnishings – as well as the customer’s vision – when making their proposals.

To ensure the decorator has everything they need, the customer receives a folder of swatches detailing each shade, as well as technical information like the paint finishes, areas of application and quantities required.

If you have any questions about the Colour Consultancy Service, please contact Simon Temprell. Simon.temprell@neptune.com

“Portobello joins our curated collection of ‘found’ pieces. With Shepton, Sunbury and Ardingly for company, these heritage-style cabinets are named after iconic antique fairs and markets.”
