My Journey with Jennifer Bouron

Jennifer Bouron is one of Nerida Hansen’s most successful designers, and has been with me from the very beginning of my creative agency way back in 2015.

I cannot even remember when I first saw Jennifers work, but I remember how seeing her work made me feel. Anyone who has ever worn her fabrics will agree that Jennifers work is joyful in every way.

Jennifer is a French Artist and is most recognizable for for her quirky, fun prints and delicious colour palettes. Her energy and “Joie De Vivre” is infectious, and I couldn’t help but design some fun new quirky prints of my own, as well as adding in some recent favorites in bright new colours.

Before becoming a fulltime illustrator, Jennifer worked as a fashion designer for a kidswear company. Her fashionable drawings are eye-catching and fun, and no matter how whimsical her characters or prints, they hold a strong sense of style.

It is no surprise that I am one of many Creative Directors that Jennifer works with around the world. Her work has been featured in stylish magazines such as Frankie Magazine and the German publication “Flow”. She has also illustrated several children’s books, and she licenses in stationery, homewares and womenswear.

Jennifer is an enthusiastic, warm-hearted person and her “Joie De Vivre” is infectious. I was influenced to start creating some more quirky prints myself to accompany this range, and I cannot wait to wear these designs myself in our Australian Summer.

There are 4 beautiful fabric substrates for this collection with the Southern Hemisphere Summer in mind. We have selected between 2 and 4 fabric types for each design, according to the nature of howe each print will sit with the texture of each substrate.

Tencel Linen

Our TENCEL™ linen has a silky, soft feel, that is more luxurious than any other linen. It is breathable, lightweight and versatile with a standalone drape, making it an ideal choice for skirts, dresses, tops and sleepwear.

TENCEL™ is a cellulose fibre that is made from wood pulp (comes from sustainably grown forests), and because it is derived from a plant it is biodegradable. It is 50 per cent more absorbent than cotton and due to being breathable, it is less susceptible to odorous bacteria, making it a winning substrate for warm summer months

Organic Cotton Lawn

Our GOTS Certified organic cotton lawn is a lightweight, breathable fabric with a soft and smooth texture. The term “Lawn” refers to the weave structure used in its production, characterized by a fine, closely spaced thread count.

Our lawn has excellent draping qualities, making it a great choice year round for our Soiree and Puff Sleeve Blouses, Maxi Dress and Skirt, but it is also robust enough for just about pattern in warmer weather.

If you are looking for a lightweight elegant fabric with a luxurious then our Organic Cotton Lawn is it!

Organic Midweight Cotton

Our Organic mid-weight cotton is one of our most versatile cotton fabrics and being GOTS certified means it has adhered to the strictest ethical and environmental protocols. It ensures the product is made in a sustainable and ethical way throughout the textile supply chain. Using OEKO-TEX certified printing inks, it is the perfect option for those with chemical sensitivities. Organic mid-weight cotton has a plain and simple weave with a comfortable and soft feel.

Weight: 140gsm

Lightweight Linen Cotton

Linen Cotton is the perfect blend of soft absorbent cotton with the natural lustre & slub of linen. The natural bacteriostatic of the flax plant means it does not require pesticides to grow, and it quickly replenishes after harvesting making it a truly environmentally friendly fibre.

The combination of 55% linen and 45% cotton makes for a very durable, quick-drying fabric that is breathable and prone to less creasing than full linen fabrics.

We pre-wash the Linen Cotton to give it a soft, vintage feel, and as with all our printing we use OEKO-TEX® certified inks and processes which means the finished fabric has no harmful toxins.
