welcome
We had a particularly busy summer in 2013 working with young people to produce 13 short films in just 6 weeks! All the films will be premiered during the festival. I’m also extremely pleased to announce that the Under 12s’ programme won two awards this year – The NI4Kids Family Event of the Year and The Primary Times Star Award for Best Family Event. Cinemagic is a festival for young people, designed by young people. As you can see this is reflected in the 2013 programme which includes a very exciting line up of events including special premieres, international feature films, education screenings and of course films made by young people. Good luck to the Cinemagic Jury, our new CineSeekers, who will have lots

YOUNG CONSULTANTS Under 12s!
Continuing the success of the Cinemagic Young Consultants from previous years let us introduce you to the class of 2013. “Hi we’re the Young Consultants and we all met up in July at ODEON Cinemas Belfast to help Cinemagic choose this year’s festival films. We did everything from deciding on programme design, came up with ideas for radio ads, wrote film reviews and most importantly decided what films should be selected for the festival. The films we have selected are all fantastic and we promise there is something for everyone. From exclusive previews and family favourites, to films from all over the world we hope Cinemagic 2013 provides you with as much enjoyment as we had from being Young Consultants”.

That’s Classified! Film Classification
with BBFC (Roving Event)
That’s Classified!
Every movie that gets released in the UK has to go through one final process before it hits the cinemas – classification. It’s the job of the British Board of film Classification (BBFC) to view them all and decide on a suitable classification or rating: U, PG, 12A or higher. What a job! This is a great opportunity for youngsters to get the lowdown on how it’s all done and meet some of the people who do the job for real. The workshop will feature plenty of interactivity and the feature case study will be centred on the fantastic WRECK-ITRALPH!

The film’s rich and vibrant animation captures the entrancing beauty of the Yokohama harbour setting and lush surrounding hillsides and, with a soundtrack that draws from the finest music of the time, perfectly captures the thrills of young romance and the hope of a new dawn. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where Sony Pictures Animation’s hit comedy left off. Inventor Flint Lockwood’s genius is finally being recognized as he’s invited by his idol Chester V to join The Live Corp Company, where the best and brightest inventors in the world create technologies for the betterment of mankind. Chester’s right-hand-gal - and one of his greatest inventions - is Barb (a highly evolved orangutan with a human brain, who is also devious, manipulative and likes to wear lipstick). It’s always been Flint’s dream to be recognized as a great inventor, but everything changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine (which turns water into food) is still operating and is now creating food-animal hybrids – “foodimals!” With the fate of
humanity in his hands, Chester sends Flint and his friends on a dangerously delicious mission, battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world again!
