When you speak with Paul Hentschel, the creator of ‘Holistic Pet Products’, you get a refreshing down-toearth, genuine perspective on life. Paul is very much a grassroots, off-the-grid, sustainablelifestyle kinda guy, living off solar power, and growing as much fresh produce from his yard as he can. At the time of our first conversation, he didn’t even have an email address, mobile phone or website!

He’s certainly a rare find in a techo age and he much prefers the ‘old school ways’ of face-to-face connection at his shop in Cooroy. This includes building relationships with the various suppliers of the holistic, natural animal products he sells in his shop, so he has an understanding of their accreditation and quality control processes.

After being in the pet industry for 20 years, it’s clear Paul loves animals and he has a passion for researching and sourcing great products for cats and dogs (he also sells fish in his shop and native options for fish ponds for mosquito control).

He often found in his travels, big companies would regularly source popular lines of animal food and products, but they were often not the most holistic or healthiest options. So what Paul has created with his small business is different! He has researched and road-tested every product on his own animals and if they don’t get the thumbs up, then he doesn’t stock them on his shelves. “I can’t sell a product I don’t believe in,” he said.
