The Mombasa Plastics Prize MPP Incubator aims to reduce marine plastics waste in MombasaCountybydrivingthedevelopmentofyouth-ledsustainablebusinesses.
Between September 2022 and May 2023, the Mombasa Plastics Prize incentivized aspiring young entrepreneurs (aged 18 25 to develop solutions tackling marine plastic waste within Mombasa County’s informal settlements. The initial phase was an overwhelming success, where we saw the creation of 14 teams who crafted working prototypesandinspiredcommunitiesacrossthecounty.
TheMPPIncubatorwillbuildonthesuccessoftheinitialphase,byworkingwithafewof the highest potential teams from MPP to progress their prototypes into sustainable businesses. As part of the MPP Incubator, these teams will receive financial and non-financialsupport TheMPPIncubatoralsoaimstocontinueinspiringresidentsacross MombasaCountytoreduceplasticwaste,whilstalsobenefitingfromthecreationofnew jobs
Throughout the duration of the MPP Incubator, each team will progress from aworking prototypetoasustainablestartupbusiness Toachievethisgoal,theywill:
1 Formalisetheirbusinessesandestablishtheiroperationalstructure
2 Have the opportunity to refine their business ideatohelpgenerateasustainable andviablebusinessplan
3 Increasethecapabilityandskill-setoftheirteam
4. Develop and implement their workingprototypeintoaminimumviableproductor servicethatismarket-ready.
5. Formalisepartnerships.
6. Monitorandevaluatetheimpactoftheirsolutiononmarineplasticwastepollution.

Over the course of the 6-months, this NFS package will provide incubator participants with the skills, knowledge, and networks to progress their working prototype into sustainablebusinesses.

1. Submittingaproposal
1.1 Bysubmittingaproposalyouconfirmthat:
1.1.1 You have no actual or potential conflict of interest with Nesta (including Nesta’s Trustees, officers or employees). If at any time during the ITT process you discover an actual or potential conflict of interest, please informNestapromptly;
1.1.2 YouhavelegalcapacitytosubmitaproposalinresponsetothisITTandare actinglawfully,ethicallyandingoodfaithinyourdealingswithNesta;
1.1.3 You have sufficient time, skill, experience and resources to carry out the services to the highest professional standards expected of a competent supplier ofservicesidenticalorsimilarandareabletoobtainallnecessary rights, licences, consents, waivers, approvals, permissions, permits, certificatesandinsurancesnecessarytoprovidetheservicestoNesta;

2.Compliance

of a serious misrepresentation in supplying information inresponsetothis ITT;
2.1.2 YourtenderisreceivedafterthedeadlinesetoutinthisITT.Nestawillnot consider any requests for an extension of the time or date fixed for the submissionofresponses;
2.1.3 There is a change inyouridentity,control,financialstandingoranyother factorimpactingontheselectionand/orevaluationofyourtender;
2.1.4 Youareorbecomeinsolventorhaveapetitionissuedagainstyou;
2.1.5 You do not have the economic and financial standingand/orthetechnical andprofessionalabilitytocarryouttheservices;
2.1.6 You are suspected either directly or indirectly of behaving in a collusive, canvassing, or anti-competitive manner or you offer or accept an inducementorrewardinordertogainacommercial,contractual,regulatory orpersonaladvantage;and/or

3.TendererResponsibilities

3.2 You shall at all times treat the contents of Nesta documentation as confidential,aswellasanyinformationregardingNesta(oranythirdparty) impartedtoyoubyanyothermeans,andonlydisclosesuchinformationas may be necessary for the preparation of a compliant response.AtNesta’s request you shall returnordestroyalldocuments,othermaterials,working papers relating to this ITT and all copies thereof including all electronic copies.WhencompletedyoushallconfirmsuchtoNestainwriting.
3.3 YoushallnotbeforethedateandtimespecifiedwithintheITTdocumentation disclose to any person the amount of your proposal except where the disclosure in confidence is necessary to obtain insurance premiums or guaranteesrequiredaspartofanyproposaltoNesta

AnycontractenteredintoasaresultofthisITTwillbeonNesta’sstandard termsandconditions(copyavailableonrequest)
4.IntellectualProperty
4.1
AllintellectualpropertyrightsinthisITTandallmaterialsprovidedbyNesta oranythirdpartyactingonitsbehalfshallremainthepropertyofNesta.
4.2 Any intellectual property arising out of the provision of the services shall belongabsolutelyandexclusivelytoNesta.
5.Warnings/disclaimers
5.1
Nothing contained in thisITToranyothercommunicationmadeinrespect of it between Nesta or its representatives and anypartywillconstitutean agreement, contractorrepresentationbetweenNestaandanyotherparty. For the avoidance of doubt, receipt by you of this ITT does not implythe

existenceofacontractorcommitmentbyorwithNesta(oranythirdparty) foranypurpose.
5.2 The information contained in this ITT does not purport to contain all the information which you may require. While Nesta has taken all reasonable steps toensure,asatthedateofthisITTthatthefactscontainedinitare true and accurate in all material respects, Nesta does not make any representationorwarrantyastotheaccuracyorcompletenessorotherwise ofthisITT.
5.3 Nesta accepts no liability to you whatsoever and however arising and whether resulting from the use of this ITT, or any omissions from or deficienciesinit.
6.Waiver
Failure or neglect by Nesta to enforce at any time any of theprovisionsoftheseterms and conditions shall not be construed nor shall it be deemed to be, a waiver of our respectiverightshereunder,norinanywayaffectthevalidityofthewholeoranypartof thisagreement,norprejudiceourrespectiverightstotakesubsequentaction.
7.Jurisdiction
ThisITTshallbegovernedbyandinterpretedinaccordancewiththelawsofEnglandand WalesandsubjecttotheexclusivejurisdictionoftheEnglishcourts.
