WHAT DOES A 4TH CLASS POWER ENGINEER DO? As described on www.technicalsafetybc.ca The 4th class power engineer certificate of qualification allows you to be the: • Chief engineer of a plant with a corresponding or lower class • Shift engineer of a plant up to one class higher than the class of this certificate • Person in charge of any type or size of refrigeration plant Also, keep in mind that there are a variety of qualifying factors in order to apply for the certificate. These include: • • •
Completion of a 4th Class Power Engineer course A mechanical degree in engineering A Marine Engineer certificate
