SPRINTER VAN SERVICE AND REPAIR BY NORLANG AUTO

Both Mercedes and Dodge Sprinter van models are loved by their owners despite their few shortcomings. People use these powerful vehicles for both work and recreation (in some cases, even as their primary residence). If you drive or have driven a Sprinter van, you know that it’s a pleasure to drive due to it’s handling, power and low fuel consumption. However, in order to get the most out of your Sprinter van and keep it running in top condition, you need to keep up with its maintenance and repairs. Finding a service shop that really understands the unique issues commonly faced by these impressive vehicles is not easy. However, at Norlang Auto, our European tech team has the experience and know-how you are looking for. From the most basic of maintenance services to the most complicated engine or diagnostic repairs, our team can get the job done right for you! After all, we have our own Sprinter which we use as a fleet/contractor courtesy van.

Your Dealership Alternative Sprinter Van Service Centre Many Sprinter van owners have realized that it’s difficult to find a service centre that has the knowledge and experience to keep their van running in tiptop condition. Consequently, many opt for servicing them at authorized Mercedes dealers where the cost for repairs is quite high. Fortunately, Sprinter owners in the Lower Mainland do have the option of servicing their vehicles at Norlang Auto where we have factory trained technicians as well as the latest equipment to deal with any issue effectively and at a fraction of the cost of what you’d normally pay at a dealership service centre. Just like dealerships, we have a direct Internet link to Mercedes, through which we are supplied with the same factory software updates that Mercedes dealerships receive. We are able to communicate, repair and code your vehicle’s computers and modules that otherwise would have to be done at an authorized Mercedes dealer. If you have a Dodge Sprinter van, you probably know that it is made by Mercedes, therefore the tools and information we receive for Mercedes Sprinter vans apply to Dodge Sprinter vans as well.

Issues Your Sprinter Van May Develop At Norlang Auto, we are familiar with any problems your Sprinter van may experience so identifying and correcting them is done right the first time and as quickly as possible in order to get you back on the road. Sprinter Van Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) or AdBlue System

One of the issues we deal with has to do with the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) or AdBlue which must be added to diesel vehicles in order to reduce harmful exhaust emissions. Unfortunately, the Mercedes DEF system is quite complicated and if any of its components fail, you most likely won’t be able to start your van. At Norlang Auto, we have the proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the problem and repair it correctly without burdening you with any unnecessary repairs. The system also activates a warning countdown before you are prevented from starting your engine, This countdown can be reset by our technician to give you more time to deal with any mechanical problems. We also remind all our customers that it’s important to remember to prevent their AdBlue fluid level from reaching low levels since it can cause the pump and heater to fail and inhibit them from starting their van.

Sprinter Van Air/Turbo Intake System

The most common issues faced by Sprinter van owners have to do with the Air or Turbo Intake System. At Norlang Auto, our factory trained technician are very well acquainted with these issues and can help you avoid ruining your turbo and reducing the lifespan of your engine. There is a variety of issues which can occur: from something as minor as a loose hose or a clogged filter to more complex issues with resonators and sensors. Once the problem is diagnosed, at Norlang Auto, if it is necessary to replace any part, we will only replace them with factory approved parts or parts superior to those produced by the Sprinter factories, in order to keep your Sprinter running problem-free for as long as possible. We always advise our customers to have their Sprinter Van engine checked regularly to avoid the air-intake hose or the charge air hose, which connects the turbo to the intercooler, coming loose and creating costly repair issues. Sprinter Van Check Engine Light

The dreaded Engine Light can be activated for a variety of reasons, that is why it’s important to diagnose it accurately in order to avoid damaging any vital and expensive components. At Norlang Auto, our expert technicians will use the latest factory diagnostic tools to access the reasons why your Sprinter Check Engine was activated. Some of the most common reasons can be your diesel engine’s glow plugs, the exhaust recirculation valve (EGR), faulty sensors, a damaged or loose hose, the air charge cooler, a malfunctioning swirl valve or even something as simple as a loose gas cap! As a result, you need to be confident that your service centre will be able to diagnose the problem accurately and ensure that your Sprinter van is repaired right the first time. Sprinter Van EGR Valve

The Sprinter EGR valve, which controls the flow of exhaust gas, is, unfortunately, one of the van’s weak points. It is normal for Sprinter van owners to need to replace it before the 100,000 km mark. At Norlang Auto, we recommend that this valve is cleaned regularly to prolong its usage. We also warn our customers that the same symptoms that are related to a faulty EGR valve can also be caused by other parts of your Sprinter’s system. Therefore, it is vital that the technicians diagnosing the problem have the experience and technical know-how so that you do not end up replacing parts unnecessarily and wasting time and money. Sprinter Van Glow Plugs

The Glow Plug warning light is one of the most frequent indicator lights to be activated on your Sprinter van’s instrument panel. The glow plugs are basically heating devices for preheating and warming up your engine’s cylinders so that diesel combustion can occur more easily. When they are not

functioning properly, they can usually cause problems with the driveability of your vehicle. Replacing your glow plugs is inevitable since they are bound to wear out over time but for Sprinter vans, this is not so straight forward. In some models, with the 6 cylinder engine, the plugs tend to break off in the cylinder head which can cause serious damage to your engine. We encourage our customers to be aware of the symptoms related to failing glow plugs and visit us as soon as possible before more damage is done to their engine. Typical symptoms are engine misfires, hard starting, loss of power or acceleration, a drop in fuel efficiency and black smoke from their exhaust. Sprinter Van Limp Home Mode

When our customers’ Sprinter vans go into Limp Home Mode (LHM), they start to get anxious because they believe that there is a serious problem with their vehicle. The LHM is designed to protect your engine or drive-train from any possible damage so it limits your speed to 65 km/hr. When your Sprinter’s computer detects a fault in the operation of your engine/drive-train, it will activate this mode. It doesn’t necessarily mean though, that the fault is serious! At Norlang Auto, we found that the LHM is activated when your van’s turbo boost pressure is abnormal due to a reduction in the turbo air flow to the manifold. The EGR can also activate it when it needs cleaning or is damaged and when the swirl valve actuator jams, it will also activate the LHM. In addition, this mode can be activated when the transmission sensors readings indicate engine overspeed or improper gear ratio faults. If you are a proud owner of a Sprinter van, then you should take advantage of our training, expertise, experience and high-tech diagnostic equipment. What makes us your best choice for servicing and repairing your Sprinter van though, is our commitment to our valued customers to provide them with the best level of service and repairs that are possible today. Best of all, we are able to provide you with these services at a fraction of the cost which you’d normally pay at a dealership. For us at Norlang Auto, each customer is a member of our family so we take the time to address any queries regarding their vehicles and always keep them informed about the work needed to be done in order to keep their Sprinters running like new.
