Staggaring Social Media statistics Facebook * Facebook currently has more than 500 million active users. * 50% of active users log on to Facebook at least once a day. * Average user has 130 friends. * People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook. * 75 percent of Brand ‘Likes’ on Facebook come from advertisements. * College-aged kids (18-24) made up the fastest growing segment of users on Facebook in 2010.

Twitter * In January 2010 Twitter had 75 million user accounts, but only 15 million used the site regularly. This resulted in 27 million Tweets per day. * Today, there are more than 175 million registered Twitter users. How many of these are regular users is unclear, but the number of Tweets per day has rocketed to 95 million – an increase of 250 percent. * Twitter has also marked a 182% increase in the number of users tweeting from mobile devices in the past year.

Linkedin * LinkedIn has grown by an impressive 100 percent from last year, it now has over 100 million users across the globe. * 56% of users are outside United States. Top countries are: U.S.A., India, U.K and Brazil. Among European countries the most active are: The Netherlands, France and Italy. * 61% of members are men. Both users between 25-34 and 35-54 years old are 36%, while 18-24 years old are 21%.

Overall Social Media * Social networking site usage grew 88 percent among Internet users aged 55-64 between April 2009 and May 2010 * The average American Internet user watches 30 minutes of video online per day [40 percent increase over 2009] Compared to 5 hours of television per day
