Disabling DTP Negotiation 1.
Disable dynamic trunking protocol on the trunk link on SW-1
2. Verify that trunking is still occurring between SW-1 and SW-2, SW-1 and SW-3 without the use of DTP

“Disable DTP on Cisco switches configuration” SW-1 SW-1(config)#interface fastethernet 0/1 SW-1(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q SW-1(config-if)#switchport nonegotiate SW-1(config)#interface fastethernet 0/2 SW-1(config-if)# switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q SW-1(config-if)#switchport nonegotiate Verification & Explanation “Cisco DTP (Dynamic Trunking Protocol) Negotiation” DTP negotiation can disable two ways, with switchport mode access command or with switchport nonegotiate command. If trunking is needed, but DTP is disabled, it must be statically configured with switchport mode trunk command. This design is most commonly used when switching trunking to a device that does not support DTP, such as an IOS router routed Ethernet interface or server’s connected NIC card. SW-1# show interface FastEthernet 0/1 switchport 2/5
