Site comprised of collection of differing open spaces that create individual courtyards and interplay with one another to present an overall internal courtyard for the entire site tying the varied building types/programs together. The performing arts school occupies the northwest corner of the site. The school holds strict edges along the streets to express clearly the extruded cornerstones as display cases to the surrounding community. Internally, the edges fold to create a courtyard and outdoor performance space that merges with the other courtyards and engage with the rest of the site.

The disciplines of the “Performing Arts are very different - They have the desire to learn and practice separately but inspire communally to broaden artistic expression in all aspects. Disciplinary performance spaces become cornerstones to the overall form of the school as they are the anchors of the Arts and become the anchors to the overall program. Disciplinary crossover exists through the classrooms which are mixed in to every floor as connections between the cornerstones. The classroom spaces create adjacent informal gathering spaces. These spaces allow for impromptu performance areas and are positioned along the circulation path to be on display for all students and teachers passing by. The impromptu spaces become a volumetric break to crack open to the floor above providing secondary vertical circulation. The classroom pedagogy is entirely transparent both externally and internally.
