LAYERS We took an integrated approach to landscape, where plant life is integrated in a variety of ways and in a variety of forms. It was important to consider how the network of social and circulation spaces would interact with the landscape. The section is an important consideration, and because of this, we see the landscape as a number of layers, which allow anyone to reach out from anywhere in the building and touch a plant, and have it be wholly a part of people’s daily lives.

CIRCULATION The circulation system is dense and intertwined, allowing for both fast and long routes. It allows for multi-level wandering experience, passing through a numerous layers of plant and social life. It passes across roofs and crosses through the different in between spaces created by the misalignment of the volumes. It combines a

A BUILDING THAT BLOOMS The building also seeks to question ways of living in Berlin’s climate. Each apartment is given a ‘seasonal space.’ The use of this space would shift year round, in the colder PRQWKV WKH VSDFH DFWV DV D FOLPDWH EX̆HU zone, and it is inhabited less frequently. As the months progress, the space blooms, and this space transforms from interior to exterior space. In the summer, the garden grows into the seasonal space, and the seasonal space grows into the living space, creating a continuum of space and blurring the crisp lines of the volumes.
