EASE OF ACCESS
The total width of means of egress in inches (mm) shall not be less than the total occupant load served by the means of egress multiplied by 0.3 inches (7.62 mm) per occupant for stairways and by 0.2 inches (5.08 mm) per occupant for other egress components.
Egress from a room or space shall not pass through adjoining or intervening rooms or areas, except where such ad- joining rooms or areas and the area served are accessory to one or the other.
EXITS
COLUMNS
Buildings or structures used for human occupancy shall have at least one exteri- or door that meets the requirements of Section 1008.1.1.
Wood columns shall be sawn or glued laminated and shall be not less than 8 inches (203 mm), nominal, in any dimen- sion where supporting floor loads and not less than 6 inches (152 mm) nominal in width and not less than 8 inches (203 mm) nominal in depth where supporting roof and ceiling loads only. Columns shall be continuous or superimposed and connected in an approved manner.
be less than 44 inches (1118 mm) based off of calculated occupancies planned for in scenario planning.

PRIMARY GRAVITY RESISTING STRUCTURE Based off of a 10’-0” x 16’-0” module of heavy timber, the primary structure consists of douglas fir members dimensionally 12x12 inches nominally. These mebers are allowed by code to be exposed in our structure due to the charring effect. The joinery linking all of the modules together consist of a mixture of mortise and tenons, lab joints, and scarf joinery. The production can be machined or hand carved, often combinging the former with the latter in the field as installation is completed.
10 x 16 x 9 module, the basis of the entire structure
PRIMARY LATERAL RESISTING STRUCTURE The lateral structure we have chosen to implement is a combination of knee bracing at the module terminus as well as CLT flooring, linking the Douglas fir heavy timber together to resist sheer forces that act to rack the structure.
