East Boston is a historical and diverse city within Boston. Upon researching East Bostons social and economic standing and ecological hazards, Logan Airport comes into question. Logan air port seems to have an impact on all scales due to its volume and pollution. In perspective it is the 18th busiest airport in the world, and 50 percent of the airport carbon foot print comes from the United States alone, so Boston is a big contributor. Regionally Massport, they own most of the water front of all the city and most sites are great polluters. They are a privatized public amenity, so they can assess their own data when it comes to controlling there carbon footprint. Locally East Boston and Massport, specifically Logan , have been in conflict since the airport first started its first major expansion. They have constantly shrunk East Boston, pushing out residents’ and disconnecting them from the water. Sounds problems have never been fixed to this day, and East Bostonflooding within the next 50 years is a ongoing issue.
