Silver Tiger Fun Facts:

• First game between the two rivals: 1921…Nevada won 6-0

• In 1933, the student councils of Nevada & Lamar came up with the idea of a Silver Tiger … officials from both schools bought the Trophy to go to the team winning the annual Turkey Day game…original cost of the trophy: $35

• First “Silver Tiger” game played: 1933 …a 7-0 Nevada Victory

• The trophy…a Silver Tiger mounted on a Black stand with the plate inscription “Nevada Lamar Trophy is actually named Oscar

• 65 meetings over 89 years

• Nevada holds a series advantage 37-26-2

• The two ties came in 1934 & 1937

• First Lamar Silver Tiger Victory came in 1940. The game resulted in a near riot with fans storming the field after a ferocious hit on a Lamar receiver.

• The trophy series actually started in 1931…a 7-4 Nevada victory … Before the Silver Tiger there was “The Lions Club Trophy in 1931 & 1932)
