Faith and Cold Reading Wednesday 9 February to Saturday 19 March A Live Theatre & PW Productions Co-Production

DATES: Wed 9 Feb to Sat 19 Mar

Faith and Cold Reading

TICKETS: £10 to £18

Written by Shaun Prendergast Directed by Jonathan Moore Sam is a professional medium who lives with Carla. He owes a lot of money to Freddie, a bigtime gangster who has recently buried his mother. Will Freddie overlook the debt if Sam can re-connect him with his mother in spirit? With the pressure on, can Sam deliver or will it be left to Carla, herself bereaved, to make the connection? Cold Reading – ‘a technique used by mentalists and fortune tellers, psychics and mediums to determine details about another person in order to convince them that the reader knows more about a subject than he or she actually does.’ Wikipedia, 2008. ‘The thing you have to remember about the City is that everybody is pretending to have some knowledge, some vision, because in fact money doesn’t exist, it’s a notional concept. Lose faith in the concept and you get chaos.’ City of London trader, wine bar 2008. The play is set in the winter of 2008. Live Theatre is pleased that Stephen Tompkinson (DCI Banks, Wild at Heart, Ballykissangel, Drop The Dead Donkey and Grafters) is taking on the role of the charismatic but terrifying villain Freddie. Violent and volatile with a constant thirst for the truth, Freddie is certainly not to be messed with.
