A Walk On Part Tuesday 25 October to Saturday 12 November A Live Theatre & Soho Theatre co-production In association with New Writing North

“…the diaries have been adapted by Michael Chaplin into a fast-paced and very funny theatrical entertainment, in which Mullin frequently appears to be a lone swimmer paddling against a tide of self-interest”

DATES: Tues 25 Oct to Sat 12 Nov TICKETS: £10 to £18

A Walk On Part The Fall of New Labour

LOCATION: Main Theatre

From the diaries of Chris Mullin Adapted for the stage by Michael Chaplin Directed by Max Roberts

DURATION: Approx 2 hours 20 mins including interval

Take a ringside seat and enjoy an insider’s view of the last and most turbulent decade in politics as the critically acclaimed and witty diaries of former MP for Sunderland South, Chris Mullin, return to the stage. Chris served Sunderland South as its MP for 23 years, retiring last year after serving as a Minister in three Government departments, including the Foreign Office, as well as a distinguished and influential back-bencher. Shortly after leaving Parliament, he published the second volume of his diaries to universal acclaim, many critics suggesting that they offer the clearest insight into the Blair and Brown years.

Image: The Fightback Begins Today © Steve Bell www.belltoons.co.uk

Live Theatre and Soho Theatre bring Mullin’s witty, irreverent take on contemporary politics to the stage, reflecting three worlds during a time of crisis and change – the febrile political village of Westminster, the flash points of Africa he toured as a Minister and the fragile community he served as an MP.

After its successful opening in May, The Broad Chare is continuing to provide proper food and proper beer all from the small, cosy and intimate surroundings of this neighbourhood pub. Bar snacks include the now infamous Scotch Eggs, delicious deep-fried monkfish cheeks and cauliflower fritters. If it’s just a drink you’re after then don’t forget to try The Writer’s Block, a new pale ale brewed exclusively for The Broad Chare and Live Theatre to a unique recipe by Wylam Brewery. With drinks taken as seriously as its food this is a destination to be enjoyed both before and after a show.

The Atrium Bar Live Theatre’s Atrium Bar and Undercroft open two hours before a performance and close at 11pm providing the perfect location for a leisurely drink before and after a performance. Remember you can take your drinks into the theatre and you can also order drinks or ice creams for the interval.
