Eco courses for an eco-conscious world ncn’s STEM Academy is trailblazing a growth in specialist training to support Nottingham’s rapidly expanding green/ ecotechnology industries. ncn Basford Hall is leading the way on an exciting new concept in low-carbon, energy efficient housing – the result of our new collaboration with Eco Modular Housing (East Midlands). A prototype two-bedroom contemporary show home, built using a recycled shipping container, was installed on the site in just three days. Boasting high-quality kitchen units, interior finishes, furniture and carpets, the unit is built to National House-Building Council (NHBC) standards. The prototype marks the first phase of the project which teaches students about environmentally-friendly construction and students will be involved in the next phase which will see them get to grips with real construction projects from planning to completion, including surveying, design and project management. This is a huge growth area for jobs in the UK and by providing relevant industry recognised training and qualifications in this area, we’re giving our students the very best chance of success in their chosen career.
