McCain SureCrisp™ fries put to the test at the Restaurant & Takeaway Expo

It’s not every day brands put their money where their mouth is, so we were excited when we visited the McCain stand at the Restaurant & Takeaway Expo. McCain claim that their SureCrisp™ fries stay crispy for 20 minutes in a closed delivery bag and this was put to the test by simulating the delivery experience from operator to customer. McCain SureCrisp™ fries were cooked up alongside private label, uncoated fries, put into paper bags and then into a typical insulated courier delivery bag. Once cooked, a big timer was set, and the fries sat there idly for 20 minutes

Operators attending the show were asked to judge the results by blind testing the two products side by side and guessing which ones were McCain SureCrisp™ fries. A whopping 98% of operators guessed correctly. Operators were also asked to rate each of the fries they were tasting on how happy they made them feel as well as the crispiness of the fries. It was an overwhelming response for SureCrisp™, with 85% of testers saying they were happy with the crispiness of the SureCrisp™ fries and preferred them to the private label, uncoated fries. The SureCrisp™ fries were very easy to pick out for their superior quality and retaining their crispiness, unlike the uncoated fries which were soggy and disappointing

With the delivery & takeaway industry still on the rise and forecasted to be valued at £13.3bn* for the UK in 2022, getting your fries right is crucial. Fries are always a firm favourite and the test showed McCain’s SureCrisp™ range certainly live up to its 20-minute crispy claim and are not afraid to show it off!

The proof is always in the pudding or, in this case, the ‘crispiness’. Favorite Fried chicken, who has over 90 outlets in the UK and overseas too, have found the impact on using SureCrisp™ has had a positive effect on their deliveries,

Alison Lawton, Favorite Fried Chicken said: ‘Since changing our fries to McCain SureCrisp™, we’ve seen an increase in orders through delivery, this is due to the fries staying crispier for longer.
