Themost traditional of our artists at New Concept Gallery, Linda Petersen renders the distinct landscapes of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona in warm, rich tones. Her oil paintings convey the beauty of the American southwest with grace, showcasing our adobe architecture, crystalline blue skies, sculpted rock formations and oasis-like river valleys to perfection.

Petersen earned her B.F.A. in Denver in 2001, and spent two summers painting in Italy. Her small plein air studies and larger studio works show a European influence, flavored by her years spent savoring the extraordinary landscapes of the Four Corners region. The works featured in Petersen & Roberts include several new paintings in a larger scale than what Linda has created in the past.

JULIA ROBERTS

For this intimate one-room show, Julia Roberts will be showcasing the works that first brought her acclaim here in Santa Fe: her exquisite hand-pulled prints inspired by the traditional motifs of Pueblo pottery. Roberts’ prints pay homage to the patterns and themes of indigenous artisans, while being careful not to copy their original designs. Before settling in Santa Fe in 2006, Julia lived in Europe for 16 years, producing her art in various ateliers and master classes in Paris and London. She spent many productive years working with master printmakers at the London Print Studio. Her masterfully executed handpulled prints show the influences of Asian and European printmaking methods, as well as the distinctive palette of her adopted home in the American Southwest.
