Seedlings of Faith www.pathofcitrus.org

Issue 2 - Volume 5

It takes great courage sometimes to share the details of a life you may not be proud of. But you never know when your courage and yes, even your mistakes—plant seedlings of faith for a changed life in someone else. One of the young men at The Path shares his insights…

Richard’s Story

“A searching and fearless moral inventory of a fractured childhood that led to being dysfunctional in many areas of adult life: not knowing how to give or receive genuine love or affection made most relationships superficial and short-lived. My life was full of broken hearts, promises never kept, and empty, unfulfilled dreams. Full of anger, resentment and pain.” That is how Richard, a young adult and recreational drug user in the past, described his life. “I built all kinds of walls to protect my feelings. I kept my distance from bonding and true fellowship with anyone, and had little respect for authority figures. As time passed, I began taking out my frustrations on everyone and everything I thought might be a threat. Not being taught some basic life skills, learning by trial and error, I got into trouble with the law.” “I spent my life over-indulging in bad, destructive habits. I needed some serious correcting.” The turning point in his life came on December 18, 2006. “I was born again, but continued to search for acceptance from people around me. This led me away from the life God had chosen for me. Struggling with the scars from my past and chasing after my own interests continued to destroy my hopes and dreams for my life.”~(continued on pg. 2)

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” KJV John 10:10

Faith

Richard’s Story…continued from cover

“But once again, my ‘seedlings of faith’ took hold and I was led back to the Only One who could help me: my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He softened my hard heart. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, people were placed in my life that I could trust and believe in.” “The staff and people I’ve met since coming to The Path as a client have been a blessing from God to mend the scars. I’m learning how to be a real friend, husband, father—and ultimately a true man of God.”

Director’s Corner

Thank you for planting seeds of hope in Richard’s life… God bless you all! Success... In Their Terms

THE PATH SPOTLIGHT

“Although the work of people can look very difficult and seem disappointing if you are looking for perfection, we have had many success stories here that you may not recognize. When you are dealing with people who are addicted or live in fear because they cannot financially take care of their children on their own, they have success stories that are different from others. To be clean and sober for 30 days is a dramatic statement for some of our clients. To get your first driver’s license. To go to a big church and fit in where you thought you would never set foot while you learn more about the incredible story of Jesus who died for all of our mistakes. Today we count the blessings of doing the work of our Father and counting success in His terms-- and a most different way!” -- Path Staff member

Special Thanks

Thank You, Loopers Golf Association of Citrus Hills for hosting your inaugural charity golf tournament & luncheon to benefit The Path. Approximately 100 golfers participated in a golf scramble that included putting and other contests for a variety of prizes. The Loopers Golf Association is a social group promoting friendship and fellowship around the game they all love. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Frank Kosidlak and the Tournament Planning Committee, all of the sponsors and volunteers—and special thanks to Bill & Donna Phillips for introducing The Path to the Loopers! We love you all!

Path Farm’s 15 lb. cabbage, recently on display for customers and Path Farm Co-op members at the Hernando Farmer’s Market Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Richard Boehm of Summerfield (couple below, right) for the generous donation of 5 computers with keyboards, monitors, and mouse, as well as computer printers to add to the computer equipment purchased with previous funding from the WOMEN OF SUGARMILL WOODS, INC. -- to develop our computer lab to help clients boost academic skills and prep for obtaining their G.E.D.

Dear Friends, First, let me welcome our newest board members Floyd Ford and George Bendtsen. We are very privileged to have them join us! DuWayne Sipper I’m excited to share with you that The Path’s Board came together in March for the fourth time since we’ve started to look at our long term plans. This opportunity gave board members a review of our current organization, our strategic business plan, and also answered questions for the newer board members. This session also gave Kathryn and I a very good look at how board members feel about our ministry, our priorities and what they wish to work on in the near future… Special thanks to Brian Ludwig, a former board member, who shares our vision for the future of this ministry and did a terrific job as our facilitator. Our board has agreed to meet every other month for a ‘work session’, the off-month when there is not a regular board business meeting. These will serve as workshops on how to strategically build The Path so that we secure sustainability and develop objectives for such priorities as succession planning. I thank God for the board’s work and for God surrounding me with Godly wisdom…
