HONMA GOLF: Stunning Performance For Every Age, Stage, And Play Level

Honma Golf has Japanese roots and worldwide impact. Get to know the brand, the technique, and how Honma is preparing the next generation of golfers with BERES Nx.

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Honma remains committed to creating golf equipment that brings out the beauty and history of the game—whether you’re a weekend warrior, committed amateur, on the pro tour, or in the tee-up stage of development.

New this year to Honma’s offerings is BERES Nx—clubs thoughtfully designed and expertly executed for up-and-coming players and their future success.

Roots of Respect

Fresh off its 65th anniversary of operation, Honma is one of the oldest and most-storied golf manufacturers in continuous operation. Now headquartered in the foothills of Sakata in Yamagata prefecture, to this day Honma remains the only premium golf-equipment company that handles every step of production—from inspiration to completion.

From its earliest days in a rustic Yokohama, Japan, workshop, Honma has produced premium golf equipment featuring an industry-leading stamp both in beauty and high performance. For more than half a century, Honma’s designers, technicians, innovators, and 360 master craftsmen have shared a common goal of producing some of the world’s most prestigious and visually stunning clubs.

Brothers Yukihiro and Hiro Honma were avid golfers from a family of distinguished art collectors. After succeeding with a single driving range and club-repair business, the brothers knew they had the knowledge and vision to go even further to revolutionize the game they loved. It all began with the art of premium club making—bringing the best minds in modern golf technology and design to the artistic stronghold of Sakata.

The result? Club collections in use by top players worldwide. Instantly recognizable by discerning players and fans, Honma proudly proclaims Stunning Performance.

Flawless Craftsmanship

Throughout its history, Honma has recognized, developed, and honored the beauty of design and production. Each Honma product touches 100 different employees’ hands and takes six months to develop; from start to finish, all Honma research, design, testing, and manufacturing are performed in-house.

Each wood club and driver club starts with a master model result- ing from extensive scientific testing, research and development from the top designers, technicians, and innovators in the industry. Meticulous inspection, polishing, refining, coating, and finishing comes before the assembly phase, which is carefully performed by a Honma artisan whose discerning eye will send each piece back to the drawing board if anything’s amiss. Finally, a balance check with a precision balance meter determines whether the clubhead meets Honma’s strict balance benchmarks.

Meanwhile, Honma irons demand head abrasion by a seasoned artisan, router polishing, and grip insertion stringently checked by hand. Honma’s original proprietary machinery aligns and joins each component ahead of rigorous checks of the lie and loft angles. For Honma’s shafts, master artisans manually wind carbon fabric around an iron core. The shaft is then machine-ground, then laboriously hand-refined.

Exquisite Details

Honma prides itself on Stunning Performance—that is, clubs that are as beautiful as they are game-changing. From the start, Honma believed that club craftsmanship was its own art form. The endgame? Equipment that stands out in both form and function.

Although some of Honma’s clubheads are sleekly simple by design, the most recognizable BERES line is Aizu, featuring the traditional Japanese lacquer craft of colorful and intricate carvings inspired by nature. On the course, in the cart, or on display at home, BERES Aizu stands out as stunning beauty.

Honma craftsmen—Takumi artisans schooled in the ancient Japanese art of intricate aizu carving—dedicate their lives and careers to making every single piece of Honma equipment a work of art. The long path to club making and design mastery begins with apprenticeship, concluding only when a craftsman finally has the ability to perfectly picture a finished club and how it will look and feel in a player’s hands.

One example of how function takes beautiful form is Honma’s exclusive solid cross-carbon crown, featured on the newest BERES Nx line. An eye-catching and recognizable Honma feature, the lightweight yet solid and painstakingly-crafted crown allows weight to be carefully redistributed throughout the clubhead, preventing power loss at impact and maximizing strength and performance.

BERES NX: For Golf’s New Generation

Last year, Honma introduced BERES Nx, designed specifically for golf’s next generation as an entry-level set for development, refinement, and commitment to the game. It is now available in

MEET MORLEY MOLE, ESQ.

Honma’s clubs are unlike any in the industry. So it stands to reason that there must be some … ahem … underground intelligence into Honma’s ease in melding honored tradition and today’s tech.

Their ace in the hole just might be a mole. A mole named Morley.

Morley is swathed in some mystery. He works undercover. He’s attuned to the rumblings of news and innovation. And he knows there’s much more to golf than meets the eye.

In Japanese tradition, moles are considered a sign of good fortune. They’re also revered for their relentless pursuit of their goals. Even with limited sight, moles are highly attuned to their surroundings and skilled in seeking prey. Much like master craftsman Takumi, moles pursue absolute perfection in everything they do.

Not turning a blind eye to his capabilities, Morley Mole offers fresh perspective into club mechanics—from the ground up, of course. Maybe that’s why Honma has pioneered club features that the competition can’t quite grasp; features like the world’s first carbon-slot, classic shaping, and unmatched artistry that’s a clear shot back to our Japanese heritage.

Morley may lurk in the shadows, but it’s clear he digs Honma.

the North American markets.

Honma’s storied BERES line features legendary speed, distance capabilities, and recognizable craftsmanship. Recognizing that great play begins with the best tools, Honma has put all the best of BERES into the new Nx, along with additional tools to promote accuracy and confidence on the course.

Inspired by the Honma’s premium BERES line, the Nx combines a lower price point with advanced technology for the developing golfer to promote strength, skill, and comfort. Included is a carbon-crowned titanium face driver that turns face design on its head for better off-center hit flexing. Also in the mix is an iron head that’s weighted with tungsten and stabilized with an internal resin bar for less twisting on off-center hits.

The result is a fresh combination of technology and forgiveness for the ideal introduction to the game as well as the Honma family—the perfect gift to get tomorrow’s players starting today. In addition, BERES Nx provides a lift and additional support for senior-citizen golfers as well as seasoned players returning to golf after a gap.

The BERES Nx Difference

BERES Nx addresses distance via the top of the driver, with a face flex that generates greater ball speed. The crown’s pattern of indentations stiffens the structure for even more flex functionality and rigid L-Cup design that moves welding lines off the face. Woods and hybrids boast heavy steel soles and titanium frames for better low-spin flight and distance-enhancing ball speed.

In addition, BERES Nx solves a thin-face vibration issue, which often gives the less-experienced player a bit of a shock. A dense tungsten plug in the club toe and polymer resin cylinder lengthens the player’s center of gravity to improve stability of the head at impact.

Searching for even smoother swings and accuracy? The monochromatic and beautifully modern BERES Nx Triple Star clubs feature Honma’s exclusive VIZARD shaft. Constructed with the same technology as BERES Nx, Triple Star’s style and shaft advancements define its beautifully crafted performance. Ultra-high elasticity prepreg, low frequency and low torque create higher trajectory and distance and consistent precision.

Bringing It All Together

Honma brings tremendous pride to every club it makes. Although the brand has long been treasured by players at the very top of their game, Honma has succeeded in diversifying its of- ferings to appeal to discerning golfers of all levels who are serious about investing in their passion and showcasing the beauty of the sport with every move.

Good growth means Honma will uncompromisingly deliver Stunning Perfor mance to all corners of the world— wherever golf is played, enjoyed, and revered.
