HOMES FOR LIVING For each of us there is a transformation that takes place when we buy a home that stimulates our creativity and imagination. Whether it is our first home or one of many throughout life that we have acquired, it is the same. It is the beginning of a quest for creative expression and individuality to make that home our own. In the past, it was common for families to live for decades in the same home, adding updates and additions as needed. It was not uncommon for a single home to be lived in by two or three generations in the same family. New homes today are vastly different from their counterparts of years gone by. Today’s homes are designed and constructed utilizing high-tech products that work together to provide ergonomic planning and maximum efficiency for family living. Home buyers today want convenient house plan designs that help them stay organized, allow them to live comfortably through all stages in life, and keep utility costs low. More importantly, buyers are looking for homes that don’t require much work on their end. A trend that is gaining traction everywhere is “larger is not better”. Homes are becoming smaller with flex space that can be transformed as families grow and evolve. Builders are offering better planned homes with smaller more manageable designs that are more functional, more affordable and easier to maintain. In the past new home buyers often preferred minimal landscape and finishes in a home. Buyers today are looking for a complete move in ready home, inside and out, including full landscaping. Older homes have become popular with first time homebuyers who see value in home ownership and are willing to put the time and money into improvements. Home buyers are the lifeblood that drives our country’s economic machine. It also provides each and every one of us an opportunity to create a center for our own personal preferences.

South Shore/South Coast Over the last 10 years, Massachusetts has been the fastest growing state in the northeast corridor. In the Donahue Study produced by The University of Massachusetts, the state is projected to grow 10-15%, to nearly 7.5 million by 2030. When Alma Nove says they get seafood fresh off the boat – they are not exaggerating. This salmon was extremely fresh and impeccably seasoned. For all seafood lovers out there, this dish is heavenly. Adding to the future spring specials, duck was served with pickled strawberries and a balsamic drizzle, over Tuscan kale and pea risotto. This succulent duck is an absolute must-try, with a unique, sweet taste that was excellently prepared. The Tuscan kale and pea risotto created the best, most flavorful combination and was outstanding. While we enjoyed our entrees, we were served some hand-crafted cocktails from the bar. First came the Strawberry Wallop, which was strawberry infused with half vodka and half gin, St. Germain Liqueur, fresh lemon as well as peychods. Like many girls in their 20s, I enjoy a fruity cocktail, and this one blew me away. The next cocktail served was a House Infused Bacardi with lime and oranges, orange juice, cranberry juice and pineapple juice, topped with dark Bacardi.
