Located in the critically recognized in South Norwalk CT the Fashion Lab curriculum draws on the deep rich traditions perfected in the European Couture Houses, contemporary design techniques: adapting these fashion making methods for young designers who are just beginning their fashion journey, looking to gain more skills or building their portfolio to apply to a college. NEF+DA's Fashion Lab provides students a fresh, hip industry current fashion experience and brings fashion to life. Adult Fashion Lab workshops Offers a hands-on industry experience, each fashion lab session offers students an opportunity to stimulate, grow and express their inner fashion-creative genius. Workshops in Pattern Making, Draping, Sewing, Fashion Illustration and Fashion Design are offered in convenient evening and weekend sessions. Junior Design Academy Developed by fashion design professionals and supported by a strong curriculum helps young designers to build portfolio for their future either applying for college or looking to start a business. Fashion Lab After-School Designed are 5 week sessions two days a week, or for the real enthusiasts’ unlimited subscriptions is open to ages 9 and up.

Our Fashion Summer Camp 2015 We are accepting Students ages 9 to 19, no previous skills needed, we will teach you to use the sewing machine and make your first patterns based on your own ideas. We love what we do and you will love our design studio.

The renowned designer Martin Margiela very first collection was based on the deconstructivist fashion movement. Take something old that you would otherwise throw away, and make it something new. Who knew that a plain Sundress could become a chic fashion statement using hand and machine sewing, Textile design, and an incorporation of business are applied in this fashion making project.
Leather has a rich history and it has been one of the mainstays of our wardrobe. Combined with lace it creates rich looks if the couture houses such as Fendi, Hermes, and Prada just to name few. Whether using cutwork, crochet or eyelet, this ancient handiwork takes on an au courant chic such as lace for the summer, Dresses, tops or shorts will be created in our studio using French traditional techniques. One of the days will be a NYC field trip.

In class, students will be making that necessary little dress required for every Fashionista’s. This project will teach you how to use pattern drafting and the skills to sew using sewing machines. Techniques such as embellishment and beading will also be learned.
Design your favorite pair of jeans or a jean jacket using textile technique. All sewing techniques learned in class can easily be used at home. Be UNIQUE!

This week will be devoted to the color PINK. The color pink has always been a trendy staple in the world of fashion. While keeping to our PINK theme, we will also be learning new fabric treatments and continue refining both our hand and machine sewing

Make the Dress of Your Dreams Week 7: August 3rd-7th [Morning (9AM-1PM)] Summer Camp: well-known couturier from NYC gracefully donated fabrics to us. We will design fabulous looks! The session will finish with professional Photo-shoot at the end.
