Happily EverAfter Little Red Riding Hood
Illustrated by
Celeste Hulme
A long time ago a little girl and her mother lived in a cottage at the edge of the woods.
They baked together.
They picked flowers together ...
A’S
GRANDM
and they visited Grandma together.
One day Grandma gave her granddaughter a special gift for her birthday. The little girl wore her new coat so often that everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood.
She wore the little red coat with a hood to the baker’s to buy bread ‌
to the park to feed the birds ...
and to school to keep her warm.
‘Your grandma isn’t very well today,’ said her mother one morning as she iced a cake. ‘Why don’t I visit her and take the cake with me?’ said Little Red Riding Hood. ‘Be careful,’ warned her mother. ‘Don’t talk to strangers.’ Little Red Riding Hood placed the cake in her basket and set out across the woods to her grandma’s house.
As she stopped to pick flowers in the field a wolf appeared. ‘Where are you going?’ asked the wolf. Little Red Riding Hood wasn’t scared. ‘My grandma is sick. I am going to visit her,’ she said. ‘Is it a long way to her house?’ asked the wolf with a sly grin. ‘It’s only down that little lane,’ replied Little Red Riding Hood, pointing in the direction of the path. ‘Well, well,’ said the wolf, licking his lips. ‘I will run fast through the woods and meet you there. I would like to see if your grandma is feeling better.’
