Illustrated by Stephen Pym The Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon Tony Abbott MP, announced on 4 May 2015 that the Australian Government would donate $10,000 dollars to the Healesville Sanctuary, part of Zoos Victoria, to support the work of the Sanctuary in preserving the endangered Mountain Pygmy Possum (Burramys parvus). The gift would be part of Australia's recognition of the birth of Her Royal Highness, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana on 2 May 2015. This book has been published to coincide with the occasion of the first birthday of the Princess.
窶連ha!' said Penelope the Mountain Pygmy Possum as she pounced on a Bogong Moth. 'My favourite food!' And she gobbled it up with a crackle and a crunch, a chomp and a munch.
Penelope was very hungry – and no wonder. She had been asleep for most of the winter, curled up in her tiny home under a boulder, high in the Snowy Mountains.
