WHY DO WE LOVE CHOCOLATE SO MUCH? AND IS IT HEALTHY FOR YOU IN MODERATION?

It's one of the most well-known sweets ever. Men hoard it, women obsess over it, and it was supposedly first consumed by Aztec kings. Why do we love chocolate so much? Here are a few of the reasons why chocolate is so popular and why, even if you're on a diet, you shouldn't fully give it up!

It should come as no surprise that chocolate includes fat. Chocolate has a thick, creamy smoothness that precisely conveys the flavor of the cocoa thanks to the cocoa butter. Additionally, it has a melting point that is slightly lower than the typical body temperature, giving every piece of chocolate you eat that melt-in-your-mouth sensation. People who enjoy chocolate frequently describe this melting sensation as pure bliss.

A study conducted at the University of Michigan in the United States found that chocolate contains substances known as opioids. Opioids are also included in opium, and when ingested, they reduce pain and make people feel good. The study found that eating chocolate causes people to naturally manufacture opiates in their brains that calm their nerves and make them feel good. That hunger for chocolate diminished when the opioid receptors were suppressed.

Tea was once thought to be the main source of these compounds. Now, in order to give your body more of those compounds that extend life, doctors advise that you combine your tea with a chocolate cookie or biscuit. However, avoid drinking milk along with your dark chocolate since, according to the same studies, milk might negate the beneficial effects of chocolate by preventing those beneficial compounds from being properly absorbed in the body.

It's crucial to keep in mind not to consume too much chocolate. It does include a lot of sugar and saturated fats, which if consumed in excess can lead to obesity and other health problems.
