Disaster Relief Assistance for TROPICAL STORM IDA
Tropical Storm Ida left a path of destruction most of the state had not seen since Superstorm Sandy. On Sept. 1, this deadly storm spawned multiple tornados and catastrophic flooding throughout New Jersey.
In times of crisis, New Jersey Realtors® has a disaster response plan and team that springs into action. The day after the storm, the association conducted safety calls to all our local boards to check on their welfare and if there were any immediate needs. The local boards also assess the damage in their areas and report back so we can have a preliminary idea of the scope of the storm. The Disaster Response Team, comprised of six volunteer members, also assisted with assessing the damage in their area.
New Jersey Realtors® submitted an Application for Disaster Relief Assistance to the Realtors® Relief Foundation as well as a Voluntary Cooperative Program Agreement. New Jersey Realtors® is now assisting qualified applicants with financial help for monthly mortgages expenses or rental costs.
The disaster relief assistance application for Tropical Storm Ida is open now through Oct. 31.
Assistance is available to members and the public. To provide for a reasonable and equitable distribution of funds, assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
